Hi friends! We did not get the blizzard that was predicted today, we only got a couple of inches of snow and not the 18″-24″ that was in the forecast. That was great because we got to have a lazy day around the house. I spent most of the day preparing samples for classes I (hopefully) will teach at the Heirloom Stamp Convention in Mass this June. I have had many people asking me how to mount and unmount stamps lately. I thought I would do a quick tutorial since I just got this sheet of sentiments from Art Neko that I needed to mount. Generally I do not wood mount my stamps but I like to have my sentiments mounted and sitting on my shelf for quick access. I hope this helps! Money saving tips too!

How aabout storage? I placed mine in binders according to theme. I have way too many. Any other suggestions?

Was not even thinking about being able to index the wood….great tip Lindsay!!!! I have been in the process of removing my rubber and old cling from the wood as I have a MISTI and it does not work with wood mounted stamps, plus I need more ROOM to STORE my stamps (now over 100 pizza boxes full!) I was told you can write on the back of the rubber the name, #, and company (or whatever) with a Sharpie…then apply Aileen’s Tack It Over and Over -letting it dry for an hour – and remove from storage acrylic to use on an acrylic block to stamp or when using a MISTI. I have cut old acrylic packaging to the size of my stamp to store the stamp without getting stamps sticking together in my pizza boxes which are in the garage sorted by theme….so far so good…it is working great! Isn’t it amazing what we can do when we run out of room and need more storage space…LOL!

Great idea with the foam. . . Actually I bought packages of shims for very little and ( Lowes ) and stamped the sentiment on the shims and glued the sentiment on the other side and had my neighbor cut them apart for me. Works very well. I store them in a jewelry hanger with 32 pockets on either side. The hanger I got at LTD limited but they don’t always carry them.They are 4.95 on sale and I store most of my unmounted rubber this way. Clear stamps I put in bins indexed by type: botanical, artsy ( grunge like things and shapes. ) animals etc. Still need to get busy and use what I have but there is always another stamp around the corner. LOL

I have a pretty big boxful of wooden blocks meant for mounting rubberstamps that my husband is threatening to throw out/recycle(?) if I don’t find a nice home. They were my treasure from my rubberstamping collecting in the past decades before I reconnected myself into calligraphy and watercolor (love your tutorials!) and if I get back into stamping I would probably unmount them to save space. Goodwill doesn’t know what the heck it is so they won’t take them. What do you recommend?
