My State is Cracking Down LOL! Sat Chat 3/18/23

Hi friends! I am feeling very silly this week after a funny story about my state and a questionable license plate. Hear all about it in this week’s Sat Chat!

Stuff I mentioned:

Other than that it’s been a pretty slow weekend. One child has landed safely with a friend and we expect the other to arrive late tonight. I need to wash bedding to accommodate the second round of my daughter’s friends in our makeshift youth hostel. I did a lot of baking this week for the weary travelers and they seem to appreciate it! I only wish I could leave it alone. My amazing bread is a blessing and a curse LOL! Have a great weekend and as always happy crafting!

A Refreshing Painting

Hi friends! Today I have a little snack of a painting to share.

painting of a coctail garnished with a lime wedge and strawberry.

It was done in my tiny sketchbook that I pull out when I want to make something quick and fun. The diminutive size of it takes away the pressure to make something grand. Do you have a small sketchbook? If not maybe paint this on a watercolor greeting card and then mail it to a friend who could use a pick-me-up too!

Several YouTube viewers told me that the spiral on the drink was not wood, it was rhubarb skin. I obviously don’t drink enough, LOL! Maybe I need to do some research? Happy crafting!

Well, this is exciting!

Hi friends! I have some exciting news to share! Royal & Langnickle has finally released the Art Instructor kits that I filmed tutorials for a few years ago! I just got mine in the mail! check out the unboxing in this video!

I made a playlist that includes this unboxing and all of the tutorials from the Royal & Langnickel YouTube here if you want to see them. I am hoping these kits will soon be available in all major art and craft stores. The artwork was created with the supplies from the kits but I do want to let you know that these are student-grade, budget friends supplies. They are not professional art supplies. They are kits to get you started and they use the standard Royal & Langnickle products. Here are some photos of the kits.

That’s all for today. I just wanted to share my excitement! Happy crafting!

At this point, we should just call it Sun-Chat on the blog

Hi friends! Again I forgot to post Sat Chat on the blog yesterday. It airs at 7am Saturday morning on YouTube if you are ever looking for it. I will get my act together here on the blog someday, maybe, honestly, who knows! Today we set the clocks an hour forward (yay! my car clock is right again!) so we can enjoy an extra hour of sun in the afternoon. I was so looking forward to waking up at a reasonable hour this morning. I’ve been waking up so early the last few weeks, definitely before I am done and way before I need to be up. I am the kind of person who if I wake up after 5am I can’t go back to sleep. I woke up early this morning, my clock said it was 4-something and I was hearing noises in the kitchen. It was one of my girls and her friends prepping food for a road trip they were embarking on today. So it was actually after 5am and there was no way I was falling asleep knowing my precious baby was going to be on the road. It’s gonna be a long day, Thank goodness for Life 360 (if you know what that is you are probably an anxious parent too, I tip my hat to you, friend.) Anyway, time for Sat chat!

In case you are wondering, I do know there is a Nor’Easter headed my way on Tuesday. We don’t need to dwell. My prediction is 4″ max and the warm weather will melt everything. I will manifest spring vibes, it can’t hurt LOL!

Stuff I mentioned:

  • You can find a real-time version of the cake lesson in Critique Club now. • Book recommendation: Calypso by David Sedaris. I listened to the audiobook read by the author and he is wonderful. Your library might have it, mine did!

Well, the sun is shining! I’m gonna walk the dog and then I might go for a drive myself. Enjoy your weekend and til next time happy crafting!

A Gentle Art Hug & Loose Watercolor Tutorial

Hi friends, I hope you are well. Today I wanted to pop in with a gentle, easy, and quick watercolor floral tutorial that you can paint when you need a quick win or just a moment of relaxation with your art supplies. We all have times when we don’t feel creative and inspired. It gets better. don’t beat yourself up over an artistic dry spell. Do what you can and enjoy putting the brush on paper.

Sat Chat (a day late!) 3/4/23

Hi friends! I totally forgot to blog this yesterday, I blame my brain fog on the snow but today it is sunny and I feel nice and sharp! I am so glad it is March and even though we have a fresh 6″ of snow on everything from yesterday the bright blue skies have done my mood a world of good. I was actually so warm walking the dog this morning that I took off my gloves and it is supposed to hit 40 degrees today! Where did I put my Coppertone? Hopefully, this means I am turning a corner of the winter woes, I am off to meet some old college friends for lunch today and I am feeling super positive. Spring is right around the corner, right?

Stuff I mentioned:

After I filmed Sat Chat on Friday I did play with the Arrtx pastels and filmed a couple tutorials and the review for them so that will be up on my YouTube channel tomorrow. I have had some requests for watercolor tutorials so that is my next priority. It’s funny that my to-do list feels much more manageable when the sun is out. I wish I could bottle sunshine and crack it open on dreary days. Anyway, in case my chat seemed bleak please do not worry, I am fine, just a bit dramatic when winter gets me down. Happy crafting!
