Woah! Where did the weekend go? Sat Chat (a day late)

Hi friends! Greeting from the snowy tundra! I finally finished reading Stephen King’s Fairy Tale yesterday, 10 out of 10 stars, I totally recommend it! A little spoiler alert because I am a very tender-hearted person when it comes to animals: the dog in the book is OK. I think the book is fine for teens, nothing struck me as too “adult” and it was just a fabulous story. It will tickle your brain with nostalgia and unlock memories you have forgotten. One of the best books I have read in a while. It is long tho and it took me almost a month and a half to read, probably because my focus has not been great lately, with that here is this week’s Sat Chat.

Stuff I mentioned:

  • You can find a real-time lesson for the radish project in Critique Club
  • BTW Blick just dropped the price on open-stock Neocolor 2 watercolor crayons from $2.25 (The list price is $2.60) to $1.58 each!
  • I honestly don’t remember what else I said.

Have a great weekend and til next time happy crafting!

  • Pad lays flat when working
  • Paper holds up to taping
  • Smooth Will accept light layers of colored pencil as well

Cons:

  • Not the best for blending

sat Chat, A whole lotta Meh this week

Hi friends! I hope your weekend is off to a good start. I have to say that I have not been very artsy this week. It’s like I can’t get out of my own way creatively so I have been working on boring “adulting” stuff. I really feel the need to bring the sense of play back into my life. I’ve got the winter blues, cabin fever, and the gray doldrums! Ack! I have been feeling restless and having a hard time focusing. I need some warm weather and sunshine I think, or to find some more fun on the daily. How are you staying in good spirits during the long cold winter? February might be the shortest month but it sure feels like the longest! Anyway, it’s time for Sat Chat!

Stuff we talked about:

Well, I am going to take another run at the book I have been reading (Yes, I am still working on Stephen King’s Fairy Tale, it’s a really long book LOL!) and maybe watch some TV. I know it’s not very creative or ambitious of me but I’m keeping it real. Happy crafting!

Review: Alyona Creates Ultimate Palette Watercolor Set

Hi friends! Today we are taking a look at handmade watercolors made in the UK and sold by fellow YouTuber AlyonasWatercolourCreations You can see several videos on this set of paints on her channel which will be more in-depth than what I am showing in this review. You can purchase these paints (and stamps) on her ETSY shop. *The stamps are high-quality photopolymer. They cling and stamp well.

Let’s talk about the paints. You get five 14ml tubes of watercolors in a tin for about $95 USD, 4 out of the 5 are said to be granulating and 2 are super granulating. All colors are multi-pigment mixes and Alyona said that no fillers or expanders were used.

Pros:

  • Unique colors Easy to rewet from dry (pans well)
  • Mixes well with basic colors for unique mixes and more options
  • Vegan Handmade High pigment load

Cons:

  • Price (A bit high considering the pigments used)
  • Only available in a set at Alyona’s Etsy shop (But may become available in a larger art store in the future)
  • Multi-pigment mixes

What do you think? Would you add these paints to your stash or try and mix them using what you have? Happy crafting!

no palette judgment here! Sat Chat 2/11/23

Hi friends! It’s a beautiful bright and sunny Saturday here! I was a bit chilly walking the dog but nothing compared to last weekend and the sun felt so good (on the tiny exposed patch of face skin LOL!) I felt silly applying sunblock when I need the vitamin D but being out for an hour with the sun reflecting on the snow makes me worry. Thank goodness for vitamins. I hope you are having a lovely start to the weekend. Enjoy the sat chat!

Stuff I mentioned:

Speaking of delicious and healthy foods I just saw a recipe for making glazed doughnuts in the air fryer. I think I’m going to try that today. I’ll let you know how it turns out next week. Happy crafting!

Hello Moon!

Hi friends, I took a look back in one of my sketchbooks to get the inspiration for this painting.

Marker and colored pencil illustration of a hot air balloon with a moon face.

I really liked the marker/colored pencil drawing I did of this moon hot air balloon and thought that it would translate well to the colors in the new Art Nouveau Gansai Tambi watercolor set.

Watercolor painting of a hor air ballon and watercolors on a desk.
