Howdy friends! The other day while making lunch for the kids I snagged a handful of cherries, they were too pretty not to paint:
I used Prismacolor colored pencils to draw and paint these on a scrap of creamy yellow mat board. Watch the video tutorial for step by step instructions:
Will you give it a try? Be inspired by whatever surrounds you, whether it is a landscape, a flower, the people in your life or even your lunch. Make time for art everyday, even if it is just for a few minutes. Thanks for stopping by and til next time happy crafting!
You are great as always. Tired this one. Came out ok. Will keep at it.

Hi Lindsay, 🙂
The cherries you drew and coloured look so life like I could pick one and eat it. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful talent!
Have you ever painted on rocks?
Best wishes and take care. Happy summer!

Thank you Lindsay! This technique helped in getting the highlights and shadows worked out. Burnishing is a new idea, and thinking about how the paper can reach a point where it will no longer ‘accept’ another color. Lots to consider how paper responds and works with you. The Alps were partly there and some were socked in with heavy cloud cover and rain. Nice drive, wish you could have been here to share the views. Lighting in the Alps is totally different. More blues and softer shadows. Very subtle. Alpine lakes are either an artist’s dream or nightmare, but still very beautiful from the higher roads or hiking trails. Paula aka Midnightair.

I heard you were hankering after some Crafter’s Companion pencils, I assume the Spectrum Noir ? I had the chance to try them and I was underwhelmed. Compared to Prismas or even Derwent (Artist) they don’t layer well IMHO. I think they’re probably fine for crafters wanting to colour a stamped image but not for the artist wanting to draw/paint a whole picture.

Wow, Lindsey, just went over & found Art Neko! Thanks for the heads up in your “Frog Tag” vid. I’ve been trying to weed out all the kiddy, disney stamps to find something more arty & realistic. Those folks have it all. I placed my first order with them today. It won’t be my last. Thanks a million.
