Edit! The live stream was so fun today! Here is the final painting. The replay is available below!

Hi friends! This week I am in a castle collaboration with talented painters Angela Anderson and Cinnamon Cooney-The Art Sherpa! We are all painting castles! Here is a color study for the one I will be painting:

The colors I am using are: Quin Red, Cobalt Blue, Cad. Yellow Lt., Burnt Sienna, Sap Green, Yellow Ocher but you can pick whatever you have that is closest. If you are new to watercolor you can thin down acrylic paints to a watery consistency and work on paper. You do not have to worry about under-binding on paper;) Here is the reference photo for the castle but please refer to the printable pattern because I am adding more landscape area to this.

  1. I like castles. When we lived in England, my class took a field trip to Framingham Castle. Interesting.

There is a castle in our city here in WA. It was originally built to be the governor’s mansion when the city was in the running to be state capital. But, Olympia won, I think it was because Olympia was accessible by water as well as by land. If you want to see the photo I took, you can see it here:

If you want to see the painting that I did based upon the photo, you can see it here:

  2. Thanks for the great castle water color live show today. I finally got to see your live show today. You are so talented and you inspire us . I was wondering if you would possibly consider a water color painting of an old weathered barn with a snowy scene? (an easy beginner’s video) Thanks again for the great video…

  3. I finally got around to watching this video …. first time I wasn’t at home to see it live! I am so thankful for your idea how to add the red tulips on the grass without having to paint around them! I would have LOVED to know how to do that because spring flowers on a meadow or grass look so nice and loose. Splattering water makes it look like flowers growing random – something I’d never get that well on purpose. I can’t wait to see if I can really do it – probably try it out in a sketchbook first.
