WOYWW: An Inky Week!

I have been having so much fun in my studio this week! From making my cheap homemade version of Goosebumps  spray (Recipe here) to playing with ink and cheap kids stencil brushes:

Yep, I got a 15 pack of stencil brushes at Micheals with a coupon for $5 and I went to town, you can see them in the soup can on my desk along with my big ink sweeper, distress ink pads, random backgrounds over-stamped with my lovely new from the stamp show Artistic Outpost stamps and my homemade bottle cap & cosmetic wedge daubers. I love me some homemade supplies. Why am I sharing my desk you ask? Because it is What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday of course!

The stencil brush ink technique is so quick and easy and a great solution for folks who have a hard time getting a smooth blend with foam blenders, have a look:

I also want to mention again how much I lobe my Samsung F90, it is so easy to shoot and share that I can make a quick little tutorial whenever I am in the mood. I’m not endorsed by them or anyone who sells them but I know a lot of you make craft videos too so I’m just sharing my opinion. For me the pause/record feature is what makes it, I can pause the video if I need to let something dry or get something and then resume it so no need to edit it later. I will say that I do not care for the software that comes with the camera, if I need to edit something I use Corel Video Studio Pro. Anyway, here is a close up of the inky card, not bad for 6 minutes eh?

  6. Lindsay:
Very glad to here that your husband is doing well. 🙂
I love this technique, and plan to get some stencil brushes today. Michael’s is having a big end of summer sale and I have a coupon. I have a stamp in mind for this, and now I can’t wait! Thanks so much.

  7. That is a tidy and pretty desk and I love the card, don’t know what Goosebump spray is but I will have to find out now. I will watch your video a bit later.

I don’t know why (well I do it was blogger) I thought I was 113, so went and visited all the 3s and told them I was 113. Someone told me I am 136 – so I am whoops, so I am starting over on the 6s, not sure how far I will get!

  8. Lovely desk, and lovely work as usual, Lindsay! That’s a great card. I use Inkylicious Ink Dusters for ink blending and absolutely love them, but I’ve used stencil brushes too – mostly for stencils lol!

I rejoined WOYWW this week for the first time for ages, not that I’ve got a workdesk at the moment, but posted the photos of my new ARTHaven in progress!

    Happy belated WOYWW,

  9. You are SO creative! I am amazed every time I watch one of your videos! And you make it look so easy. Truly! I love your work and your tutorials. I needed a how-to on using distress ink and this went SO far beyond what I had hoped for. Can’t wait to try it.
