Howdy crafty folks! It’s time for What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday! I FINALLY managed to bring some order to my crafty chaos this week. I even vacuumed! I dug under the scary table where I cram stuff and purged and organized and I am not ashamed to show you my room. Even with my projects in progress out it still looks pretty good:)
Doncha love this shelf? I found it on the side of the road with a “FREE” sign on it! Free! Can you believe what people get rid of? I had my husband hang up the shelf then I used ribbons, scrapbook papers and beaded tassel trim to change it from “blah” to “ohh la la!”
I spent most of the day painting and working on a new beginner watercolor tutorial for my shop. I finished the BBC series Being Human so I decided to start on the American series…hmmm, tv is so much better with British accents….
I also varnished some new paper beads, look at that clean table!
And surprise, I got an advance copy of the December issue of Scrap & Stamp Arts and my artwork is on the cover, the whole entire cover!!!
A clean craft room, artwork on the cover of a major stamping magazine and a free shelf. It’s a pretty good day. Thanks for stopping by and til next time happy crafting!
If all days were half this good!!! Nice clean space too

Congrats on the being the cover feature!! The fall/river water color on your desk is wonderful. If I could water color like you, all my cards would be/have mini-water color paintings–like the whiskey painter Joe I found on youtube.
I am going to try water coloring soon. I have all the supplies on hand that i need. Your last painting–the Cosmos–was a bit intimidating to me because the water is so ‘loose’. I’ve tried water color in the past–a very long time ago–and it ended up looking like a big muddy blob. I daresay I didn’t allow my paint to dry before applying adjacent paint. AND I didn’t control the amount of the water on my brush. SEE–I am learning by watching you work and your pointers/tips do help tremendous
I’d like to try is a small water color beach scene or a landscape–become proficient at that and then at some point begin to add to those scenes additional things of interest–similar to one my daughter purchased that features a tree on a hill w/ some grass, a couple of fall leaves and a small bear w/ a balloon. On the painting–which is on canvas board–written in black ink, by hand, is an endearing sentiment about romantic love.
The reason I got into rubber stamping is because I was doing acrylic painting–flowers, roosters, etc. on small cards and needed to add more interest to my card and I cannot draw. So, I bought a French script rubber stamp and used it on the background in the vintage/shabby chic style versus full on stamping. It made my cards much more interesting. After that I was hooked on rubber stamping for life.
Sorry for this epic epistle. A bit windier than usual today…HA.

One more thing–sorry–I TOO love British shows. Have you watched the Halloween episode of Poirot? It’s called Halloween and it has been on youtube in its entirety.
It’s not British, but have you watched Hamish McBeth? It’s Scottish and their accents are awesome too. I love Hamish McBeth–the whole series in on youtube–rhere are 3 seasons and each episode is better than the precious one.
The lead character is played by Robert Carlyle, who is a fabulous actor. He currently plays Mr. Gold in Storybrooke–Once Upon a Time which airs Sunday nights. My husband and I are hooked on it.

Love your craft room. I craft in the basement too but only against one wall and I face the washer, dryer, furnace, hot water tank, freezer, etc. However, I refer to this space as “the lower studio” instead of the basement. The “upper studio” is a huge walk-in closest that is my sewing room.
Congrats on your cover. You deserve it.
By the way, I tried your water colour technique from yesterday’s posting…..and, let’s say, I need to practice!!…but it was fun.

Can’t beat a British accent, but then again I might be biased! Love the river watercolour and congrats on the front cover! Hamish MacBeth is a good show (and it IS British!), along with Monarch of the Glen, but most Americans who reviewed it on Netflix said they needed the subtitles on! Love how the shelf turned out, can’t beat free.
