Watercolor Practice & No Live Tomorrow

Hi friends! I am quickly dashing off this blog post on my way out the door to chaperone a two-day school trip to a music festival. The sun is shining and everyone is in a great mood (I just hope they don’t allow musical interments on the bus!)

I wanted to let you know that I won’t be able to do the live show tomorrow because I will on the trip but I did want to make sure you had something to work on so I have a watercolor leaf practice video for you. This is quick, if you have 10 or 15 minutes grab your paints and play!

Video!

I hope you take a few minutes to paint today! If you are living somewhere where plants are in bloom and the weather is nice why not go outside and paint from life! It will build your observation skills like nothing else!

If you feel like you want more in-depth watercolor instruction I invite you to check out my watercolor course Essential Tools and Techniques for Watercolor. It has 5+ hours of video instruction on color mixing, texture effects, washes and three real-time paintings to complete.

I have also just added a private Facebook group for students to share their work (enrolled students can find a link in the Intro & Supplies module.) If you think you would benefit from this course check it out now because it’s on sale through the month of May for $39 but it goes up to $70 on June 1st. Here are what some student’s have said about the class:

“Absolutely loved this lesson. Great job Lindsay. I hear you say the same things in your videos but it is nice to have all the information about color mixing in one video by itself. Makes much better sense. I don’t feel so overwhelmed. Thanks.” -Emily Knight

“Lindsay, you gave the best demonstration of a controlled wash on the green and red bottles that I’ve ever seen. This has been an “aha” moment for me! Now I’m really practicing controlled washes with success.” -Pricilla M. Ware

“This was such a good lesson on the difference between warm and cool colors and what can be achieved when mixing! I learned a lot. Now to play…” -Terri Honz

“Lindsay this class is FANTASTIC!! It is well paced and includes so many wonderful techniques. :)” -Janet Walsh

I am so grateful for the support and encouragement that I have received for the course so far, it has far exceeded my expectations and I am so grateful to find a place where I can take my time to teach all of the important techniques I think beginners should learn and practice. If you would like to learn more you can check out Essential Tools and Techniques for Watercolor here or enroll today!

If anyone would like a tutorial for the other rose painting I showed in today;s video just let me know in the comments below and I will be happy to post it. I will have a live stream NEXT week:) Wish me luck on chaperoning the school trip and til next time happy crafting!

  1. Actually, I like the rose too! It seems impressionistic that way, just a hint of a rose so you still look at the leaves!

Good luck with the school trip, did you pack some earplugs?
