Quick Gift Tags With Layering Stamps!

Howdy friends! Wow, what a weekend, the weather was glorious! I went to the pond today and blissfully floated in the water for an hour and then read for another hour on the beach, so nice! I like the hot weather, and we have had a very pleasant summer so far but the weather has not been really hot until this week. Yesterday I took a break from the sunshine and went down to my comfy cool studio and played with some stamps.

I am using the new(ish) layering stamps and inks from Altenew. They are a fairly new company that has become really popular because of their highly detailed, easy to use layering stamps. I have another project using the butterflies here in case you missed it. I find that these allow me to create really quick projects and they are really fun to use. The key is to use a couple of shades of the same color ink, if you do not have a great selection of ink I recommend “stamping off” your medium color to get a light shade as I demonstrated in this video.

Video!

You can find the stamps and ink at Hallmark Scrapbook for a great price and the tags I used are from Papermart. So, is it hot where you live? Thanks for stopping by and til next time happy crafting!

  1. I have one of those rose stamps but from Close to my Heart. I haven’t used them on a card yet but I’ve been playing with a bit to see what colours look best. They do look nice as long as you line them up pretty close.

  2. Yes! They are all fun to use…and quite a variety of different looks are available at Altenew. I have a number of the sets and am also having FUN with them. Thanks for the video Lindsay and the tip to go with a med range – stamped off color for your first stamping…I have been going with the lightest and not pleased with that look….really like yours!

  3. This is really pretty and I love the 3 step stamping so that you get the different layers. I would like to know where you get your seam binding. I looked on Papermart’s website but could not find it. Thanks for sharing.

  4. Love it! Reminds me of an old CTMH set….think it’s time to dust it off, because these tags are to die for, thank you!!!……FYI we were in Maine two weeks ago, kayaking, swimming, tubing, and floating in the water…..the weather was fabulous……love to craft, but I’m a lake girl come summer…..

  5. Hey Lindsay… This is more of an Ask a Crafter question.. In the Quick Gift Tags with Layering Stamps video, you mentioned a tool with a hinge. I remember there was a tool that was actually reviewed in VSN in 1999 from a company called Red Rubber Stamps (or something like that, when I googled it, it no longer exists or has morphed so I could not find it), which actually had an adjustment for height… This tool used wood mounted (it was 1999 after all). Nowadays, there is another tool that is being mentioned online, MISTI, for unmounteds. Do you have any experience with either of these tools (or a similar version)? Thanks!

    1. I really like the stamp layering technique. There are a multitude of results with this type of stamp technique. Clever use of space, too. Using plain tags makes creating gift tags and decorations fast and easy while creating one-of-a-kind keepsakes. Thanks, Lindsay.
