Hi friends! We got back from the Heirloom stamp show late last night and boy, what a blast it was! I got to hang out with old friends and make new ones! I taught 2 classes Friday that I think went really well and I got to enjoy the convention too! I put cash aside all year long so that when the stamp show comes along I can shop without pain LOL! And I did have some cash in my pocket when I came home. Have a look at what I got:
Below is a list of vendors I mentioned. Please note, some of these vendors may be wholesale and only offered to consumers via stamp shows or retail stores. I have also noted any free domestic shipping options I saw on the sites, many have reduced international shipping too at those spending thresholds. If you are one of these vendors and you have a special you would like to share leave it in the comments!
But first! I want to thank Shilpa from Artyshils Art World for the beautiful portrait, see the video here.
Vendor List:
Lost Coast Designs (free USA shipping over $100)
Carmen’s Veranda (free USA shipping over $100)
Rubbernecker (free USA shipping over $25)
Verses
Technique Junkies (free USA shipping over $75)
Impression Obsession (free shipping over $50)
Local King Rubber Stamps
Stampendous (not a vendor but I bought some of their stamps from other vendors)
Tessler Stamps/Stencils
Eyelet Outlet Free USA shipping over $50
Gary Burlin
I also bought some things at Micheal’s while I was there because there is not one near me.
I also mentioned buying the Elegant Writer pen to do a technique I saw artist Karlyn Holman do in this video.
Now I am going to have to get some more binders to store my stamps in! I need to write down all of the ideas I want to try before I forget. I put all my new goodies in a basket so I will use them soon rather than file them away and forget. I highly recommend you attend a stamp show if you can. You will get fun ideas from vendors and learn about stamp companies you never would hear about otherwise. It keeps the hobby thriving too and that is good for all of us (I did my part on that score!) So, what stamp would you like me to use first? Let me know in the comments! Thanks for stopping by and til next time happy crafting!
I Was there on Saturday and did not see you. Wanted to give you a great big HUG!!!
Thanks for all the videos and general whackiness. Love it! Keep up the great work!

Would like to see you do a tutorial with the stamps from Stupendeous. I have the the flowers and humming birds and have not tried them yet. Thanks for the idea with the paper templates. I made one to use on a card last night with my Cricut and was trying to think of how I could make it last longer.

I enjoyed hearing about the show and seeing all of your new goodies, Lindsay. I like your idea of putting your new things in a basket, so that you will use them. So often when I put new things away immediately I forget about them.

Love the video, Seeing someone else’s haul is always so much fun. I have the color bursts and love them. So fun. I had no idea there were so many stencils. Guess time for me to go searching some out. Thanks for sharing Lindsay.

hi Lindsay! I am so happy you had such a wonderful time at the stamp show. I had planned on being there but had car issues so I was not able to make the trip to Springfield. Huge Bummer! Anyway, at the beginning of this video you help up a large package of what looks like stamps that say things like “Fragile” on them. Are those stamps? You said the company is no longer in business. What is the company?
Thanks!

Frugal Crafter, thanks for the “non frugal” haul video. (LOL). I really enjoyed seeing what you got. I love that Local King koi fish set and I’d like to see what you do with those.

Once again, I had the pleasure of seeing you and Cathy at the show; and once again I missed the elusive Lorraine! I absolutely love watching your hauls! I have a bit of buyers regret having lusted over that bubblegum machine from Lost Coast, and the City Scape from TJ. You are going to LOVE the little “starlight pen” I use mine all the time, and after a year, I have not even gone into the second pen. It is really sparkley yet fine. Also, Gary Burlin does have an online shop. Can’t wait to see you utilize your treasures!

who makes that pen and where can I fond one?

It’s called “stardust clear glittering gel pen” and it is made by Sakura. It comes in a 2 pack for about $3.99. I got mine at Joann’s and got to use a coupon! Well worth it.

You made me laugh, Lindsay, when you wrote that you were “NOT” so frugal at the stamp show. It is always a treat to see art supplies and stamps up close. Bringing home goodies seems to be a Right of Passage for stampers, so enjoy your plunder. You have earned the right to pamper your muse!

Looking forward to seeing you make a card (for your Dad) using the birch trees.

Thanks for the shout out Lindsay! Even though I’ve run into you before in Springfield, this was the first time I’ve met Kathy and Lorraine. What a pleasure to hang out for a few, and to take one of your classes! (loved it!, learned a lot!)
BTW, the demo artist at Impression Obsession is Melinda; she has demo’d for IO for several years, and prior to that was a demo artist at Marcos! (back when they were carrying The Wizard and the Bind-It-All to conventions)
And, my only convention regret is not following you into Gary’s booth, LOL.
As for what I’d like to see? Your ideas for any of the Technique Junkie stamps please.

I love Melinda. I’ve seen her demo at 2 shows now and I’m absolutely mesmerized by her. I could look through her samples for hours too! I’ve been trying to remember what brand of ink she uses… I think its Colorbox, but I can’t remember if its chalk, dye, pigment, or archival. Anyone know? Thinking chalk, but don’t want to guess before investing in a bunch of colors. I loved the coverage the inks gave to those detailed backgrounds! I must have bought more than a dozen of IO’s background stamps because of Melinda! 🙂

Yes, Melinda was using Colorbox Chalk ink… Recently she has been adding in Pan Pastels with Versamark. So one layer is Pan Pastels, another layer is the Chalk ink.

I’d love to see how you use the paper stencils with the mod podge. I’m thinking there is so much potential in them (and is such a frugal way to get stencils). I’m thinking since I make a lot of my stencils and paper cutouts, that learning to seal them while using them would extend their uses.

I second this request. Would love to see them used with a gelli plate.

I love the color bursts! I was at a show and the rubbernecker’s folks were demonstrating them with their watercolor stamps. I did not realize they were similar to brushos until I saw a video on line using them that way. They blend together beautifully, and no two tries are exactly the same.
On another note, I tried to purchase plain white pillow boxes from Papermart that I could decorate with stamps. They did not seem to have plain white. Everything was embossed or textured. Any ideas where else I might find them? I usually can find anything I can think of at Papermart. It is a great store, but not today.
Thanks!
Amy

I am new to stamping. When I stamp an image it isn’t vivid and clear. I used memento ink and card stock. I tried with a craft mat and without a craft mat. What am I doing wrong?

Make sure your stamp is inked well, the rubber should look shiny after you ink it up. Try less detailed stamps tp start off with then use more detailed ones as you get more experience. I am planning a series of videos called “stamp School” this summer for beginners, maybe that would help?

Make sure the rubber looks shiny after inking it up. Less detailed stamps are easier to stamp. I will have a beginner stamping series coming up this summer too!

Good golly, I didn’t want you to stop. I took notes on the items I liked. Thank you for sharing. I live in the middle of nowhere (Wal-mart is 25 miles away) so I’ve never heard of a lot of these companies. Thank you again.

Fun! I think you got more stamps in this one haul than I have total- ha! I’ve had this card idea stuck in my head forever now, but I can’t find a huge daisy stamp. Do you have any ideas on who might have one that’s at least 3.5 inches (preferably bigger though)? If it’s mounted, the image needs to be that big not just the stamp block.
Can’t wait to see what you’ll do with all your fun finds! Thanks!

Fun! You got 2 things on my wish list – the Birch Forest stamp is out of stock at RubberNecker for over a year so that was a great find, and I also like the CTMH typewriter sayings the best of typewriter stamps.
Always useful stuff in your videos! Glad to learn of spraying Pearl Ex ink pads with water. I would like to see how mod podge works on paper stencils – I have been tempted to buy them but have stuck with plastic, so that would be great if it works. I also have seen the IO background stamp layering and think that is creative.
I love when you call something “useful” – I use that word too, but as an amateur, it’s more legitimate when you use it 🙂
