Howdy folks, I have another stamp set to give away from About Art Accents, it is the Kokopelli word, image and two border stamps, wow! All on beautiful deeply etched red rubber. You can see all 4 stamps you get on the card:
I don’t often use Native American or Southwestern imagery in my art but I really enjoyed playing with these stamps. Kokopelli is a fertility symbol apparently…uh, I guess I won’t be using that stamp too often, I don’t want to tempt fate LOL! The last time I was pregnant I had twins! Here is a video showing you how I made the tags. The clay embellishment video is in yesterday’s post.
Another technique I wanted to mention is to get a stone look on the main image of the card I stamped just like I did on the video but then I ran it through my Big Shot with a grungy abstract looking embossing folder and swiped it with ink. I used glossy paper because when I tried it on regular cardstock the image did not stand out as much as i wanted.
Another tip I have is to save the white and cream cardstock strips that you get when you trim down paper, they are great for stamping boarders for cards or sentiments! Well that’s it for today. I LOVE all the texture you got into the card. You pulled all the elements together beautifully. I’m not currently married or dating so I think I can risk using Kokopelli. (hehehe you know you’re going to get a lot of bad jokes, but you started it!)

I lived in the Southwest for three army tours at El Paso, loved to go out to look at the rock paintings. I have had a life long interest in the Native Americans and have a lot of paintings and prints from the southwest as well as a fireplace that looks like an adobe oven. Virginians think the decor is strange but colonial is not my style. Now I have Native American plus Oriental art.Just call it eclectic. LOL

Funnily enough yesterday I was watching a documentary on ancient world art and there was a little segment on the flute player Kokopelli, I was excited because that image has always appealed to me and I have a tiny piece of art that I bought at a craft market a while ago where someone drew a kokepelli with a glue gun right in front of me with coloured glue sticks. I liked how he did it and the image that he created so much that I bought it – I only found out years later that it was a venerated native American fertility symbol. So of course your post today totally caught my attention. This is a stamp set that I must really look into getting.

Great idea for native american/southwestern themed cards and tags. I might have to dig out the few southwestern stamps I have. Never used them but you have given me an idea for a couple of cards that I know my daughter would love to have.

Beautiful cards/tags and great tutorial. I love the embossing in the background. You really figured out how to make it pop. One good thing about being in a same-sex marriage is that there is a very slim chance of an “oops baby” (and if one of us had one we’d have some ‘splaining to do).

I have used alcohol inks on picture paper, but I had never thought to stamp on it. I wonder why. I have some small koppelli stamps and I have always wondered what to do with them, now I need a big one to finish of my set. I love all of your videos.
