Hi Friends! I am beginning to feel like a game show host with all of the fun giveaways lately! Up for grabs today are the butterfly and peony stamps I used in my video and a $10 gift certificate to Art Neko! This contest is open word-wide so everyone can play! All you have to do is leave a comment and I will pick a winner at random next Monday! Now watch this video for this fun technique!
You can also do this technique with colored chalk (pastels), watercolor crayons and in some cases watercolor pencils. Try what you have. You can also use water based markers for a different look but still beautiful. Try this technique with the stamps you have OR if you are inclined to shop for the ones I used you can use my coupon code Lindsay10% to save 10% on regular priced items your next order at Artneko. The Butterflies I used are also on the beautiful Cats set (A huge 8″x10″ pate) that is normally $29.99 but on sale now for $12.99 and the peony is available as a single stamp for $6 (reg price $8) or you can get it as part of this beautiful set of Assorted Ancient Asian Images for $14.99 (regular $29.99) I love it when the sets I picked to use are on sale! I have no idea when the sale is over so don’t wait if you want these. If you buy it and end up winning they will let you choose different stamps:) Don’t forget to leave a comment for a chance to win! Thanks for stopping by and til next time happy crafting!
I love watching you.mi am new to stamping and am making all of the mistakes. Thanks for your encouraging optimism. Loved this and hope to win.

I’ve shopped with Art Neko in the past (thanks to one of your videos), and I have to say I was not disappointed. I bought a very inexpensive “sheet” of stamps and it had to have had nearly 50 stamps on it! The deep rubber stamps are great for working with polymer clay. In fact, some stamped clay magnets using my set are next on my to do list. 🙂

I actually think the “congratulations” looks out of place? It doesn’t quite fill up the space it’s in, or maybe it’s not bold enough. So either:
1- try the card front again without a sentiment (I know it can’t be undone, maybe tie some pink/purple ribbon across that area?), or
2- add a line flourish underneath the congratulations and maybe even trace over the word with a pen to make it more bold, or
3- add some embellishments (sequins or pearls as suggested by others) near the word.
(Of course it’s still beautiful as is, but since you asked…)

Your video’s are always awesome, Lindsay! You asked if you needed something else on the card – YES. Just a little bit of Silver (fine tip) pen should do the trick(maybe outlining a flower or two or highlighting the centre of one or two of the flowers, outline the centre card with thicker silver pen??)!! Do you have snow yet?? We just have rain, rain, rain (mind you; you don’t have to shovel rain! 🙂 Love from the West Coast of Canada. j 🙂 🙂

Hi there Lindsey! I just wanted to say thanks for all your lovely tutorials and even the quirky videos where you think you’re just kinda rambling. Those videos especially have helped to remind me of how much I love art and how much it soothes me. I have lost touch with my creative side, I guess you could say. I always thought there wasn’t enough room for it between marriage and children and work. I was diagnosed with several chronic pain illnesses a few years ago and with my now limited mobility, I need a creative outlet now more than ever. You have sparked so much inspiration with your channel. Thank you so so much for sharing this part of your life with us! Please keep up the beautiful work! ~Cindy

Hi Lindsay,
As usually, I love the colors you pick and the stamps are pretty, especially the peony stamp. When you seemed to wonder if the finished card looks good I wondered what could possibly be missing and after a while I thought: with all those cool colors (even the red was a cool red), maybe a touch of a warm color somewhere as a contrast would make the mass of cold colors look even better. I wouldn’t know which color though, green or a warm yellow or something else.

Blue is my favorite, hands down. If you still want to add something, you could add dotted-line loops to show the butterflies’ flight paths. Another thought would be a patterned exclamation point after the “Congratulations” in some glittery gel pen. If I’d done the text stamping, I’d probably have gone for gold embossing powder atop embossing ink. Whatever… maybe a few flecks of gold throughout the card, just for the snazz.
My cats “come when called” but it takes time and training. Even so, sometimes they’re busy and expect you to leave a message. They sure do have their little quirks!

Beautiful card! I think the butterflies could use a little bling – maybe some rhinestones on the bodies. Thanks for the chance to win those awesome stamps.

Your work is always so great! That card and those stamps are so pretty. I’m just starting out with stamping, and I would have never thought to use any kind of stick media on stamps. Only thing I’ve tried other than ink pads is markers and paint. Thank you for sharing all your artsy craftsy knowledge with us.

Hi Lindsay…..great stamps you used making your card. I was thinking perhaps you can add some sparkles to the butterflies….or perhaps Perfect Pearls Powder to intensify the colors. Either way it looks great, just a little something to make the butterflies to stand out. TFS. 🙂

Is it possible to paint the colour onto the stamp – for better colour distribution and finer lines – then stamp it… and will there be enough ink/colour to then spread the paint gently into the white areas, for shading?
I wonder it that would work..?

that should work fine:)
