40% off & Painted Presents {you can do it!}

Happy Thanksgiving to all my friends in the USA, today I will spend Thanksgiving with the in-laws, I am looking forward to it, although sad that I will be missing dinner with my folks. I will contribute vegan garlic bread, stuffing and lasagna to the mix…I have never made lasagna (vegan or otherwise) before so this should be interesting. 🙂

I joined a group of painters last month and last week decided to paint some slates using designs from my Natures Christmas and Warm Winter Digital Stamp Sets:

This slate I painted for my Mother in Law, she does not use a computer so no worries there:)
You can make the wording generic like I did here and sell these at craft fairs too!

I wanted to let you know that everything at Lindsay’s stamp Stuff will be 40% off today only so when Hubby is watching football you can sneak over to the computer and grab some great deals!

Here is how to paint a slate:

Supplies: Slate (get them at craft stores or demolished buildings/worksites-you can sometimes get loads of these for free if you keep your eyes peeled-my SIL gave me these {and many more LOL} and I have a theory that if you leave them alone in a dark room they multiply LOL), Acrylic paint, Brushes, spray varnish, white transfer paper and a design.

Step 1. Print out {or sketch} a design on paper, I printed images for Warm Winter and Natures Christmas at about 5″ high-measure your slate to see what will fit well-then I used white transfer paper to trace my design on the slate.

Step 2. Paint it, no biggie, if you can color a digital stamp with markers or pencils than you can paint it with acrylics. Don’t worry if you are not a painter, imperfection adds to the charm {Mine is brimming with charm LOL!}

Step 3. Spray a coat of clear varnish over the slate and add twine or ribbon to hang it. Twine or wire id best for outdoor use but ribbon is pretty if it will be hung inside, I added buttons and ribbon to the one for my MIL because she lives in an apartment and it will not be outside. Little details make all the difference:

that’s all there is to it! Here is a look at the sets I used:

Don’t forget everything at Lindsay’s Stamp Stuff is 40% off in the mygrafico shop today only so don’t miss out! Thanks for stopping by and til next time happy crafting!
