Hi friends! Today we are going to paint a crow on a fence post! I think it is a great subject for this time of year whether you celebrate Halloween or not.
Here is a pattern you can print and trace if you like:
Here is a color swatch. We will use the 5 following colors: Quin Rose (or any cool red), Pthalo Blue, Burnt Sienna, Yellow Ochre, and Sap Green. You can see the mixes in the swatch under the main colors.

I love that painting!
I’d like to know though if I could get a similar impression of shimmer without using that iridescent (spelling?) medium. Would I have to leave parts of the paper white? I remember you painted feathers like that some time ago with the Senneliers (without shimmer medium) but would it work with other brands of paint and how did you get it that way?
I also admire the post the crow is sitting on …. perfect!

it is just a matter of working light to dark and letting some of the lighter layers show through:) It will work with any paint.
