Today’s Live Watercolor Tutorial is Something to CROW About! 12:30pm ET!

Hi friends! Today we are going to paint a crow on a fence post! I think it is a great subject for this time of year whether you celebrate Halloween or not.

Here is a pattern you can print and trace if you like:

Here is a color swatch. We will use the 5 following colors: Quin Rose (or any cool red), Pthalo Blue, Burnt Sienna, Yellow Ochre, and Sap Green. You can see the mixes in the swatch under the main colors.

You can watch the free live watercolor class in the player below but if you want to chat with us live at 12:30pm ET today make sure you watch on the YouTube watch page. I will also have the replay available for those of you who can’t make it live:)

Supplies available at our sponsorĀ Jerry’s Artarama

Also, Big News! Registration is now open for Life Book 2017! I am teaching along with a slew of other talented mixed media artists for a yearlong art journey! Find out more and register here.

I hope to paint with you live at 12:30 on YouTube, til then happy crafting!

  1. Who won you space?

  2. Want to draw a crow now.

  3. I love that painting!
I’d like to know though if I could get a similar impression of shimmer without using that iridescent (spelling?) medium. Would I have to leave parts of the paper white? I remember you painted feathers like that some time ago with the Senneliers (without shimmer medium) but would it work with other brands of paint and how did you get it that way?

I also admire the post the crow is sitting on …. perfect!
