Howdy friends! Man oh man, does this winter seem extra long to anyone else? (whining warning) Usually I am not too bothered by winter, probably because I work from home so I can hunker down during the cold months without a care in the word but it has been so cold and snowy for so long and everything is covered with ice! I just went outside to close up the chicken coop for the night and fell in the snow (I trudged through the snow because the path was icy) I feel like the guy from the scene in the  movie “Fargo” when he is scraping ice off his windshield and has a fit…in fact I remember watching that movie when it came out and immediately identifying with him LOL! And my studio is cold, so cold, as in 50 degrees! I’ve heard of suffering for your art but this is ridiculous! That’s why this weeks Ask a Crafter is being filmed upstairs near the wood stove…a girl can only take so much. 😀

    1. I didn’t bake her anything. How remiss of me! I probably won’t this week either cause I think we’re coming in town for lunch and a bead shop stop. Besides I’m still trying to figure out how to get the pumpkin scone recipe out to you folks as its too long for any of the comment spots. I think I’m going to have Lindsay help me shoot it in video form. Though I’m thinking about trying peanut butter scones with a strawberry jam glaze. I believe the peanut butter will translate well to vegan.

  3. Hi Girls. I already left one question on You Tube, but I have another quickie question. I’ve been watching someone demo ‘stickles’ and have managed to work out that they are probably just overpriced glue pens lol. Me being mega frugal, I don’t even want to buy a glitter pen, so could you recommend what kind of glue I can use with loose glitter please? xx

  4. Lindsey, I love the crazy quilt wall hanging behind you…..that is so pretty. I did crazy quilted pillows for ALL my in-laws one year for Christmas. There are 10 on my Husbands side and 8 on mine. So There were a lot of pillows. LOL

  5. Haven’t seen the episode yet but I hunker down by a gas fireplace in the evenings. Crafting upstairs because my studio area is below 50 too. This winter has been interminable.

    1. I have software called Sure Cuts a Lot but you can no longer buy it for Cricut. I can cut computer fonts too, it is great!

      1. What machine does it work with as if I can use another machine. I don’t use Cricut as much as I should. It is quite an investment but sometimes drives me up a wall!

Almost any other machine works with SCAL Emily, you can visit their website (Craft Edge) to see what machines are compatible: http://www.craftedge.com/index.php?rfid=4291406&ref=c05943995fc9e9df4a0b0672d997478d I would pay attention to different machines right now though, there are a lot coming out with new features to compete with each other, I have my eyes on the Brother Scan & Cut, the Silhouette and Eclips but I am also hearing good stuff about Pazzels

        1. Create & Craft, the online crafting channel has exclusive rights to the Brother Scan ‘n’ Cut in Europe for the next year. It’s a pretty expensive machine, but the joy of it seems to be the fact that it runs without being connected to the computer, will scan your design then either draw it or cut it and can cut some fabrics as well as paper and cardstock. I’m not too sure, but I think the Cameo can cut items from a file on your computer. The plus side to that is it’s about one quarter the cost of the Brother. Even though you need the computer with it, i think that sounds like it might be a good option for first time buyers. I’m even thinking of putting one on my ever lengthening wish list lol.

  7. Another great video Lindsay and Kathy. I did want to mention your video is really beautifully clear but the sound is very low from your end. Im hoping you will check this out. Towards the end when you raised your voices you could hear you both fine but most of the video you had to strain to hear what you were saying. Thanks again.

      1. thanks for letting me know that bejay1, I couldnt turn up the volume on my laptop but the end part when they talked a little louder I heard them fine. These sound cards on laptops are a headache, I know Im not the only one but dont know what will help this issue.

  9. That’s an awesome crazy quilt! I’m kinda partial to the table lamp to because (ahem) I have the same ones. 😉 Mine have recently been treated with a crackle painting technique, so they are off-white with Settlers’ Blue showing through. {smile}

  10. It still rattles my bones when I hear Cricut/Pro Craft……….I hope viewers don’t decide to buy anything from Pro Craft. I try not to buy anything from that company. Sometimes it hard, because there are several embossing folders that I like.

    1. I got some awesome Sheena embossing folders from Crafter’s Companion. Got the ebosser from them also. Had enough points to get the toolkit free, the big one. Their customer service is good but I don’t think I’m getting any more spectrum noir pens.

      1. Let me just clarify that Provocraft/Cricut is a totally different company than Crafter’s Companion just in case that wasn’t clear;)

        1. Yep, CC is an English firm and I’m guessing that Provocraft/Cricut is American CC seller the electric Ebosser die cutting/embossing machine plus stamps, card, paper, Spectrum Noir pens and the like 🙂

            1. I’m from Virginia in the U.S. but I find the British Crafters to be incredible. Another favorite is Christine Griffith. I can’t put as much bling on my cards cause they would be unmailable and too expensive but her stuff is gorgeous.

              1. I’ve heard Lindsay (I think) saying that square cards seem to cost more to post over your side of the pond. I think that although we complain over here about the cost of postage, we have it a bit easier than you do…btw…my best friend is from Virginia 🙂

                1. Our postage has gone up recently. I forget what the British measurements are 5×5 Inches? An A2 for us is 4 1/4 x5 1/2. sometimes I’d like a bit larger card so it could be embelished more. Where does your friend live in Virginia? I’m in the Shenandoah Valley.

I’m pretty sure I can send up to an 8×8 card at the standard postage rate, Emilie, as long as it doesn’t have too many embellishments on it that would make it too fat, then it would have to go at the next ‘large’ rate. So, as long as it will fit in a normal sized letterbox, it can go standard rate.
                    My friend, Gina, lives in Richmond. I visited her on my first ever trip to the US. She actually got me a first class ticket on her airmiles, so I really treated well for my first long haul trip. I even got to talk with the captain 🙂

  12. Lindsay – I first found you and your fabulous Ask A Crafter videos through WOYWW, At first I didn’t realize you had made so many. Now I’m kind of in crafty heaven with these videos! Every morning that I can spend time in my crafty corner, I put one of your videos up on my tablet and listen while I’m art journaling or embroidering or painting. I feel like I’m taking a class and I love it–so thank you soooo much for sharing your knowledge and experience. It’s amazing. Now to my question: I won some gorgeous rice paper from Yasutomo. I can’t decide what to do with it! It is so pretty–it’s almost like fabric, So of course I’m thinking, “What Would Lindsay Do?” Any ideas? Also, I LOVE your craft room, and I’m looking for a spring craft show, and I’m making bubble wand necklaces! Woo hoo! Crafty hugs.
