Ask a Crafter 27!

Howdy friends! Man oh man, does this winter seem extra long to anyone else? (whining warning) Usually I am not too bothered by winter, probably because I work from home so I can hunker down during the cold months without a care in the word but it has been so cold and snowy for so long and everything is covered with ice! I just went outside to close up the chicken coop for the night and fell in the snow (I trudged through the snow because the path was icy) I feel like the guy from the scene in the  movie “Fargo” when he is scraping ice off his windshield and has a fit…in fact I remember watching that movie when it came out and immediately identifying with him LOL! And my studio is cold, so cold, as in 50 degrees! I’ve heard of suffering for your art but this is ridiculous! That’s why this weeks Ask a Crafter is being filmed upstairs near the wood stove…a girl can only take so much. 😀

If you have any questions for next weeks show just leave a comment and I will either answer in the comments or on next weeks episode! That is if I haven’t joined Lorraine at her beach house in Florida! Haha…wait, that sounds pretty good!  If you need instant feedback from you fellow crafters be sure to check out the Frugalcrafter Community, you can even post photos of your work. Sharing is caring! Thanks for stopping by and til next time happy crafting!

Oh, please tell me how I can do it better…NOT!

***Edit: I wrote this post last night at the end of a very aggravating day, bear that in mind as you get to the end, note to self, don’t publish in irritation LOL!***

Hello friends,  here is the new and… ahem… improved Ask a Crafter.

I got a bit overwhelmed by the comments of last weeks webcam AAC (to be fair I asked people what they thought rather than say “take it or leave it”) so I decided that if everyone wants the “good camera”  then the show would be 20 minutes and I just would not answer all the questions on air, I did respond to everyone though.  As I explained in this video I am not willing to tie up my family’s computer equipment for a day to render and upload one long video.  I was happy to use a webcam and stream it live to Youtube and answer everyone’s questions and let it go as long as it may but most people couldn’t bear the loss of video quality. The third option is that I save myself the hassle and don’t do it at all.  So watch it, don’t watch it but please, don’t tell me how I could do it better. I’m done asking opinions and advice (although it keeps coming), and I am adopting the “take it or leave it” approach, it is the same philosophy I have with cooking in fact and it certainly curbs the whining, well, my whining anyway LOL! I’ll see you next time and as always happy crafting!

Ask a Crafter 17!

Wow, when I first started this series people asked me “what are you going to do when people run out of questions?” Ha! They don’t know my fabulous viewers! You are a clever lot and have a never-ending list of questions. I love a curious mind and I am really loving the kind generous community forming around these videos and blog posts. If you only watch the videos on my blog I urge you to watch it on YouTube because you can take part in the camaraderie in the comments thread. So many crafters have offered advise and ideas that I would never have thought of and I bet you will make a friend or two as Lorraine and I have! I wish I could have you all over for coffee but this will have to suffice (until I get an industrial coffeepot and a WAY bigger house!)

That WAS fun! If you have a question for me or Loraine please leave it here in the comment section or on the YouTube video and we will answer it next week. Oh, and I am trying to compile a “crafters gift wish list” so let me know what you are hoping to find under the tree this year and I will do a video on that, you can let friends and families watch it so you will get something good this Christmas! Of course they might question your sanity for watching videos by the likes of me LOL! Thanks for visiting and til next time happy crafting!

Ask a Crafter 14: It’s EPIC!

Hello friends! It’s Wednesday and time for the latest episode of Ask a Crafter! My usual sidekick Lorraine was traveling so I asked my friend and author of the book The Rainbow Pants, Kelly Brooks Bay,  to co-host with me. She did a great job and it was a tall order with 7 pages of questions from you guys making this the longest AAC ever! I really love how this show is becoming a crafty collaborative effort, i love seeing the conversations popping up in the comments of my blog and YouTube video page. Crafters are the greatest, most giving people and the advise on stamp clubs and die cutters is invaluable for others. Sharing is caring and I think my viewers are the most caring bunch around! So, without further ado here is the latest installment of Ask a Crafter:

Bet you didn’t think we could talk non stop for 1 hour and 23 minutes did you? Again I want to thank Kelly Brooks Bay for joining me (especially since I put her on the spot the day before I needed to film!) and you can check out her book The Rainbow Pants here, now going into it’s second print run! Congrats Kelly! If you have a question for next week  or a general comment please leave a comment and if you want to get the whole Ask a Crafter experience check out the YouTube watch page where you can join the conversation with loads of other crafters! We all have something to contribute! Thanks for stopping by and til next time happy crafting!
