Hello friends! Today was the last day of February vacation for the kids so I took them to the pool, they love to swim and we stay for hours! We usually meet up with friends and us moms chat while the kids swim. Today the kids swam for 6 hours and they wanted to swim more! I guess it is a treat to swim in February, especially in the north. Well, today while they were swimming I walked around the pool to throw out some of their snack wrappers and right in front of two 20 year old lifeguards I stepped in a puddle of water and down I went! One second I was walking, the next, on the ground! They were fussing over me, offering me ice packs, it was such a riot, meanwhile I am quickly righting myself as gracefully as possible as not to embarrass my self or my children LOL! Â “nothing to see here folks…” and the funny thing is I made sure not to wear my slippery shoes this time! And the strange thing is that my neck is sore (not my rear) I must have gotten a bit of whiplash…or I am just tired from all of the gabbing i did with the ladies, who can say, I have a heat pack on my neck tonight, some Advil and I’m sure I’ll be good in the morning. Oh yeah, you are probably here for the video tutorial…well, without further ado let’s paint snowdrops! (Heck of a segue, eh?)
I hope you have made it through your weekend without injury. I think there is a cup of sleepytime tea calling my name and maybe I will take another stab at the book on my bedside table but i think I will be in dreamland before I finish a page. 🙂 Thanks for stopping by and til next time happy crafting!

Lindsay don’t feel bad about eight years ago I slipped on some liquid soap at Krogers, don’t know if you have that chain of grocery stores i Maine or not. Hurt my hip and they said they got me on tape. My husband said he would give $50.00 to see the tape. Had to go to the doctor the next day and x-rayed said I had a bruised hip. Hope your neck is better tomorrow. And I love your flower painting.

OY! I fell down the other day at home, lucky without injury. I was surprised because I took a hard fall. Must be all that extra padding on my 61 year old booty. LOL!

I really hope you are alright and that you feel much better after a good night’s sleep! It is never fun to fall like that, and you probably did pull your neck trying to keep yourself from going down. I will say a prayer for you, please let us know how you are doing, we care.

Don’t fail to take the neck issue seriously. Things like that can become chronic. You probably do have whiplash, or your back might have been affected when you fell on your behind–you might have some compression on a disk which can press on/pinch an adjacent nerve that runs to the neck. Physical therapy can often put these things to rights with minimal effort. I suffered with headaches for years–severe ones, due to whiplash because I did not seek medical attention. My bad. When I sprained my LCL in my knee and could barely walk I did finally go to the doctor. Physical therapy has been a life saver. Often our spine is being compressed and the pain is referred to other parts of the body, like the knee, the neck, the arm.
If you are not back to normal in a couple of days please go see your doctor.

I’ve been doing your tutorials, not on cards, I know you said that we could make cards with your ideas and sell them. I’ve been changing the ones I do to small pictures and changing all ideas to water color, can I sell them also.

I have had it for many years, i think they still make it tho…Let me see if I can find it: http://www.overstock.com/Crafts-Sewing/Winsor-Newton-Whole-Pan-Cotman-Watercolor-Studio-Set/6169230/product.html wow, it is pricey!I think i is not the best value at that price, it is cheaper on ebay from a UK seller and free shipping: http://www.ebay.com/bhp/watercolor-pan but it looks like there are more affordable brands to look into. Yarka is really good and sometimes it is cheap. I like my set but it was a gift. I find I rarely use many of the colors too. I think pans are not as popular anymore, hence the higher price for them. I like both tubes and pans, pans seem to last longer but you don’t use either up too fast, I really like the handy box I must say but look around a few places before you buy:)

Hi, again, Lindsay (sorry for the mis-spelling of your name in my first comment above) Can you list the sedimentary colors you mention. I can not find a simple list and I like to be able to lift out color.

goodness, I don’t worry about name misspelling:) Colors that are mineral based or non-organic are usually sedemtary (non organic means never alive so colors that are basicly from rocks or minerals) so iron colors and neutrals:
burnt seinna
yellow ocher
burnt umber
raw seinna
iindian red
Ultramarine (lapis lazulli)
*Cadmuim reds and yellows
*Colbalt blue
* health warning!
Lemon Yellow (from nickel)
Mostly earthy colors are sedimentary as well.
Staining colors often come from plants or synthetic dyes:
vibrant pinks, purples an greens are the most staining (I have many green paintbrushes LOL!) Sedimentary colors dry in interesting patterns as the colors are less likely to mix thoroughly so you will see dots of original colors in the wash, very pretty and unique! Buy some paint and experiment! It is a lot of fun to see how sedimentary colors change when they dry!

This turned out just lovely! I am more confident using acrylics–would love to combine my stamping with acrylic painting for card making. But I’m unsure what paper would be best, that would work with stamps and paint without warping badly or resisting the ink. Years ago when I first tried this, I purchased some blank cards but found they warped too much with the paint. Ran across a Donna Dewberry product called paper medium and used that with my paint and it stopped the warping. But I no longer see the DD products in the stores. Thinking using a different paper may work better. Like water color paper–would that be a better way to go? What say you our crafty artsy guru? I’m pretty much a novice when it comes to painting so my knowledge base is limited.

I would try watercolor paper and if you want to seal it before you paint try satin mod-podge:) Or you can thin down the acrylic and use them like watercolor:)

This has nothing to do with painting! HOT GLUE GUN – where to purchase, what kind of glue sticks, what kind of gun?
I do not own nor have not used a hot glue gun – seen them in action. What do you mean by low heat setting? Thank you. Susan

I recommend a Surebonder dual temp hot glue gun. You can get them at most hardware or department stores. It is red. I use a blue high temp in my videos only because it has a longer cord that willreach lol 🙂 but I prefer the surebonder. It will take all standard (not mini) glue sticks and they cost less too 🙂

sorry you fell, especially in front of other people – never fun. As other people have said, go to the chiropractor if you are not better. They usualy tell me to put ice on mine. You can use a package of frozen peas or corn or there’s a ** homemade ice pack, which is one part iso alcohol to 3 parts water in a ziploc bag and put it in the freezer. You can keep re-using it, because it doesn’t harden so you can manipulate it.

Everything is so ice here too! I was carrying in bags of groceries and slipping and thought, “get the sand out girl before you make a repeat performance on your walkway with NO lifegaurds around to haul your sorry butt up!” LOL! I tried heat, felt better. I hope you didn’t get hurt Meli. Take care:)
