Funky chess piece tags and pocket cards!

Howdy Friends!  yesterday was a nice relaxing Saturday. My Husband had a large woodworking project going on in his side (or meager corner) of the basement, my daughters worked on Pearler beads and scrapbooking while watching Once Upon A Time the basement TV and I made bookmarks! All of the stamps used on these tags are from Lost Coast Designs.

I think having that show on in the background influenced my work, the creepy trees and full moon in the background…it is a little Big-Bad Wolf/Red Riding Hoodish…

I spent a lot of time on these, they are so addicting! The tags are actually quick to make but man, they are like potato chips, you can’t stop at just one! Just be warned, after this video you might find yourself going on a tag making binge!

I decided that I should make a card to house my tags but these tags are big so I grabbed my new Business Envelope Kreate-a-Lope and made an envelope, then I took a piece of 8″x9″ paper, folded in half to make a card. I used a scrap of the paper leftover from the envie to make the pocket for the tag!

I love these chess piece stamps from Lost Coast Designs, just when you think you have seen it all in stamping you find a company that has truly unique offerings.

A couple of people on YouTube asked me what laminator I used to laminate the tags and it was a cheapie I bought for $18 at ABC Distributing and I got that one because the packs of 100 refill sheets are under $5 a set. You have to pay shipping so I bought 3 packs of the refill sheets when I got the laminator. It works great too, I’ve been using it about a year now.

That’s it for me today! If you have any questions on this project of the supplies I used just leave a comment! Thanks for stopping by and til next time happy crafting!

  2. these are awesome – love it! They’re totally the right kind of madness meets whimsical that I adore! There is something off with my blog talking to WordPress blogs – its doing something weird with comments and not publishing them, and sometimes it doesnt let me publish WP comments on my blog – so I haven’t been away – just cant comment. Hope this shows up

    1. I have had issues commenting on your blog too, it seems like there are 2 different places to post and one spot works and the other give a timeout symbol and never posts.

  3. I totally love the stamps you used and all those techniques. I certainly will be checking out that site. Is the laminator you used a hot or cold one. I have seen them in stores but never taken a close look. Which is better?

    1. it is a hot laminator, it melts the plastic to your project and seals it in on the sides. A hot laminater machine might cost more up front (but mine was only $18) but the laminating sheets are cheaper than the cold laminator. I would just use clear contact paper (shelf liner-the griptack brand is really clear) or buy the laminating pouches from an office supply store (they work really well but can run $1 a sheet) before investing in a cold laminator. All a cold laminator does is press the two sticky clear sheets to your paper anyway. 2 years ago I won a creatopia machine (xyron) but the laminator cartridge was like $40 for 40 feet, same with the adhesive. For less than one laminating cartridge I bought my heat laminator and 300 laminating sheets! You might even be able to use the hot laminator sheets with in iron but I have not tried it except to flatten something out I laminated that got wrinkled.

  5. Absolutely love those tags – and the stamps – swoon! I have a couple hundred stamps and you are right, they are all getting to look the same. I have a birthday coming up this weekend and I do believe I am going to give myself a nice birthday present from Lost Coast Designs – if they ship to Canada that is.

    1. they ship everywhere my dear:) They even offer a special shipping rate for Canada so I would email them if you are making a big order, I know in the US shipping is free if over $100 and overseas it is half price if over $100 and I think it is somewhere in between for Canada (you might have to get yourself a few things too!)
