I haven’t had a chance to watch the video yet, but I did want to let you know how the acrylic paint and glycerin idea worked out. I had a small mister (about an ounce I think) with water in it, and I added about 6 drops of glycerin to it. Sometimes I spritz the gelli plate first, sometimes I forget and spray after I added paint and not brayered yet, and, yes, sometimes after I brayered. All this to say, it does help! It gives me a little extra time to make marks on my plate before pulling a print. Hooray! I would love to see (hear) more ideas on unique mark-making tools you can find at home or cheaply. My current favorite is the plastic bottom of a party tray, where it had a raised surface to keep vegetables crisp. One side reminds of the quilt pattern, Cathedral Windows, and the other side is like a diamond with concave, not straight, edges. Another cool idea is the rubberish cushion that are made to keep things in a drawer from slipping around. Fabulous! Thank you so much, Lindsey, for the wealth of information you share with us!!!

My trick for threading a beading needle is to put a little Glossy Accents on the end of the thread and rub it in with my fingers while pulling it out to a point. When it dries, the thread is stiff and will go into the needle easily. It really only takes a second and it saves me hours of frustration when doing a lot of beading with many colors of thread.

For those who don’t like their clear stamps stained–I didn’t either when I started out, but now I’ve realized it does not hurt them in the least and if i drop them they are much easier to find. Embrace the stains! For a perfectionist like me it is very freeing. Try it, you’ll like it.
Kathy, you deserve diamonds. When there are things I want I buy them for myself. Tomorrow always becomes today. I ask myself ‘if not now, when?’ At any rate, I hope you get some soon.

Hi! You said in an earlier video to only store dye ink pads upside down, leaving pigment rightside up. Why is that? I did it but now I am having a bit of trouble with pigment inks. What about solvent ink pads? Thank you for all you do for us all!

the pigment is thick and should not drip to the bottom of the pad so they are fine upright. The dye and solvent inks are thin and storing them upside down keeps the ink at the surface ready to use:)

Another great video. You can also clean diamonds by fashioning a paper clip on to the side of a sauce pan, fill it with enough water to cover the submerged rings (dangling from a paper clip), and let the water boil for about 5 minutes. Be careful to let it cool before removing. A soft tooth brush will now brush out any old soap scum or anything else stuck in there. For quick general cleaning use a little glass cleaner. ~Diane

Love all the answers as always. DON’T USE TOOTHPASTE on diamonds!!!!!!!!! Toothpaste is made with some crushed sea shells and that can put tiny scratches on the diamonds. Buy tablets for cleaning dentures at the dollar store and just soak diamonds in a bath of warm water and a tablet of denture cleaner.
