Easy Tracing in SCAL2!

Howdy folks, just a quick post tonight to share the decorations I made with with my cricut and SCAL software for my Sons Cub Scout Banquet this week. The photos are not great but you can get the idea, I found all of the boy scout logos on this website and it stated they were free to use if you are using them for cub scout functions.

these were easy to make in scal 2!

Turning the logo clipart to cutting files was so easy, I save the badges I wanted from the website, opened scal, clicked the trace button and selected the file and viola, I had a cutting file! The only one I had to alter was the arrow of light because the design was hollow so I filled it in with the paintbucket tool in PSP then traced it, still easy:)

I have a coupon for $16 off SCAL through feb 16th: 2237421

Well, my laptop is about out of juice, til next time happy crafting!

  1. WOW Linday
those are great! Did you have a file you used for those? My youngest may be getting into scouts soon and it never hurts to plan ahead 🙂 Thanks for showing and sharing!

  2. My oldest son is “crossing over” (going from cub scout to boy scout) in a couple of weeks. I ought to show this to DH so maybe he’ll get my computer hooked up again to the Expression and allow me to get back into my craft room so I can make these for Ds#1. Of course, I haven’t learned how to trace in inkscape or SCAL2 (my results have been disappointing).

  3. These are FANTASTIC!!! I have been trying to create them and have not been able to. Would you be willing to share the files with me? My sons have their Blue and Gold coming up and I am in charge of decorations. These would come in handy!

    Thanks and great job!!!

    1. Hi Jennifer, If you have the old version of SCAL you need to convert it in inkscape, I have a tutorail here, it is easy. Inkscape is free and you can download it at http://www.inkscape.org. It is good to know how even if you have scal 2 because sometimes you need to do more advanced stuff than scal 2 can handle, also it is fun to draw and creat your own designs to cut. My tutorial is here: https://thefrugalcrafter.wordpress.com/2008/10/27/convert-a-png-to-a-svg-fileworks-for-jpg-too/

  4. WONDERFUL! I just love what you did. I am having an awful time in inkscape trying to trace in “Trace Bitmap”. Could you send me the files? I’d be happy to pay you for your time. Thank you, Joanne

    1. Hi Joanne, My computer crashed since then and i no longer have the files. You can now trace the files right in scal2 or scal3 by by clicking on the icon that looks like a tree then choosing the file you want to trace, no inkscape needed!
