Copic+Colored Pencil=Awesomeness!

Hmmm, Is Awesomeness even a word, well if it isn’t it should be! This week I challenged my designers to create cards and projects inspired by nature. Many of the Lindsay’s Stamp Stuff sets are nature themed so it was easy to find a stamp to use, I decided to work with my Fancy Flowers digital stamp set and here is what I came up with:

Digital Stamps: Lindsay's stamp stuff, Cardstock: GP, Co'ordenations, Rubber stamp (sentiments): SU!

I got the idea to use colored pencils over my copic markers from a lady in my What’s Digital Stamping? Yahoo Group (Thanks Tiffany, you rock!) and I love the results. You simply color the images as usual with your copic (or Bic, Sharpie or Prismacolor) markers then add colored pencil on top. The more color you add the more it will glow but if you were coloring something that was fuzzy (like a teddy bear) or rough (like a rock) you can use a lighter touch to pick up some of the texture of the paper.

Markers: Copic, Colored Pencils: Prismacolor, Punch: SU!

Tiffany warns up not to use the marker over the colored pencil though, it will gunk up our marker nibs.

The colored pencils over the markers give a rich glow to the work.

I first colored the images with markers as I normally would, then I added colored pencils around the edges and blended them inward with a colorless blending pencil, or you can use a lighter colored pencil.

Digital Stamps: Lindsay's Stamp Stuff, Die Cuts: Penny Duncan

Egg-cellent cards and freebies!

Wow, I never tire of egg related puns! Kinda odd seeing as I am a vegan and haven’t eaten an egg in over 15 years LOL! There is something about a pastel colored Easter egg that just makes me smile 🙂 I designed the Cute Easter Digital stamp set in hope that it will make you smile too, here as my latest batch of cards from this set:

Digital Stamps: Lindsay's stamp Stuff, Colored Cardstock: Co'ordantions, doublemates, DCWV, White cardstock for stamping: GP Image Plus, Punch: SU! & Martha Stewart (bird)

I am still smitten with my new Copic markers. I was having a hard time getting a large area blended smoothly though and I wanted a blue background on this card, I do not have the copic airbrush system but I have an actual paasche VL airbrush that I haven’t used since my kids were born so I dragged it out put some denatured alcohol and a few drops of “stream” alcohol ink (ranger) in the fill cup and sprayed me a nice smooth background. The only problem is it is so smooth I might as well have printed it on blue paper LOL!

This is my favorite card of the batch. I am getting this Coopic blending thing!

I printed my basket 2 times on white cardstock, I colored one and trimmed it closely. The other one I trimmed in a 4.5″x6.5″ rectangle and airbrushed it with blue then colored the basket with grey and adhered the other colored basket on tip with foam dots:

I had lots of fun coloring all of the elements on this card. I needed a little somethin’ in the top corners and I designed a photo corner svg to go there, download is below as a freebie as well as the word art used on these projects! To make the grass I simply used scissors to snip fringe from two strips of green paper and taped them on under my basket.

I used 3 shades of blue markers to color the large egg quickly!

I also fringed the green paper on this card. The cloud is a nesting SVG file from Penny Duncan that I cut with my Cricut and SCAL software and ren through my big shot, there is a tutorial on embossing with the cricut and big shot here if you want more info. The mat on the card below is also embossed with one of penny’s files:

A quick and simple card!

Now for the freebies! Click here to download 2 simple photo corner SVG files. One has scored edges that you fold back over the edges of a photo. (it is the one I used in my project) and the other is a glue on photo corner.
