Supplies for today’s tutorial: (affiliate links used)

Watercolor crayon alternatives (I recommend the set of 30 Caran d’Ache Neocolor 2 watercolor crayon set but you may already have other products in your stash that will work well too!)

Paper recommendations:

  • I prefer a paper with a bit of tooth but other people prefer a smooth paper, Canson MiTintes is double-sided so you can try both a smooth or rough side to see what you like. Because of that, I recommend that paper first. The assortment pads are nice.
  • Canson XL pastel paper
  • Strathmore Art Again (recycled and budget-friendly)
  • Matboard scraps (if you have them)
  • Any watercolor paper
  • Fabriano Tiziano
  • Strathmore Mixed Media paper (I prefer the toned tan) is very smooth and nice if you like to add markers to your work.

I hope this video and blog post was helpful! Don’t forget that my new class Watercolor Crayon Workshop is 50% off during the launch (use coupon code CRAYON50 if the discount doesn’t appear automatically) and you get lifetime access so you can grab it on sale and do the class at your leisure and return to it as many times as you like! Happy crafting!
