Howdy friends! Today we put away all of the Christmas decorations. It’s funny how spacious the house feels after that! We finally got some snow and the kids got to play in it. I was still feeling a bit run down so I decided to try the paper doll kit my sister gave me for Christmas
Hopefully the pic is OK, I am on the couch blogging from my cellphone but was having so much fun with this I had to share! All of these dolls take 4 pieces of paper. I am making notes in the book that came in the kit of the paper sizes so hopefully I can make these with my other origami papers. I was actually going to buy this kit for myself, I carried it around Barnes & Noble for an hour one day but put it back because I am frugal or whatever, and my sister snuck back in the store and bought it for me! 🙂 She is a keeper!
My girls are going to make some of these tomorrow. Maizy did a good job making one tonight, I love how she put a face on her doll:
We are going to laminate it tomorrow so it can be a sturdy bookmark. I think I will use mine to decorate cards. What would you use them for?
Please excuse any typos (phone typing problems lol) and til next time happy crafting!
Oh I love these, it would be great if you could do a tutorial, what cute bookmarks they will make. Thank you for sharing.

I remember having one that was a bookmark stuck on handmade paper that was stamped with the Kanji for good luck as a kid. I think I ended up using it so much it just wore out.
I’d probably make another, I do have some cute origami paper… Hm Ideas.

Love these origami dolls! You and your girls did a great job, and I too love that face Maizy gave hers! I used to live in Okinawa and Japan as a young girl and loved wearing my kimono and geta shoes, and I also really enjoyed making things with my origami. This has brought back some wonderful memories!

Cute and your girls did a good job. I’d use them on a card also. Did a little of that once when I took a class, but never tried it again. Edna

Sorry that you are still not feeling well. Hopefully now that things are slowing down a bit you’ll be feeling well soon.
The origami dolls would be great as either a card or bookmark. The papers are gorgeous, especially the one with the koi.

I love the idea of using these dolls as bookmarks. Placing them inside plastic sleeves and adding a cheerful tassel would be a perfect gift for any reader, cookbook lover, teacher, and anyone who wishes to keep their place till later.

I hope you fee better soon, I feel exactly that ‘run down’ I think it is because it’s Winter or something this cold came back and I am very achy and needing some goodness to get Me back to Gracie more normal I hate not feeling right, with my endometriosis it means my immune system is pretty weak. I am having decent meals to help boost my system back and drinking plenty to get rid of this cold, those look fun! We did quilling at art classin college that was fun! to time consuming but the results was I made a baby penguin very cute! 🙂
your so great at Art & Craft! I have been making bracelts and doing Art on the sofa! or at least trying too…
I appreciate you writing to Me, your a wonderful person sharing your talents with us.
We are very wet and windy our weather gone mad recently lots of rain.

Love the dolls. I’d use them as you mentioned and also as a decoration for a package or even room decor, perhaps hanging from a lamp switch. They’d be cute on the outside of a pocket letter as a decoration if you did an Asian theme. I did an Asian themed PL for my friend whose new granddaughter was adopted from China (one of those babies that got thrown away, was found in the dumpster because she had a cleft palette. How despicable is that? And worse it is a common practice in China).

Ha, my daughter brought me over a New Years gift from Barnes and Noble, in fact she told me to run over and take a look cause they were on sale now but I never got a chance to…I got Deluxe Origami Jewelry, she said she thought they would go good with my cards…I haven’t had a chance to look at it yet, feeling a bit under the weather myself, that’s why I’m so late in catching up with this also…will let you know how it goes when I make my first necklace…
