10 minute Thank You card

nope, I’m not kidding, you can make this card in 10 minutes using my Vintage Christmas Label digital stamp set. When I designed the Vintage Christmas labels set I wanted to a. Make a set that was quick to use and could be cut out with your nestie die cuts in a snap and b. Make a set you could use all year-long! I need a lot of Thank you cards after the holidays so I thought I’d show you how to make a chic, vintage, elegant one in 10 minutes flat:

To begin I printed the labels from the Vintage Christmas label kit on Staples cream cardstock (I love this for ink jet printing and it is heavyweight and affordable $15 for 250 sheets) to change the color I went into the adjust menu in Paint Shop Pro, then clicked hue/saturation then chose hue/saturation/lightness and played with the sliders until I got the color I wanted. There are many different ways to re-color, that works best for me:) I used the font Rosewood to type the “thank” on the bingo card and the “U” that I simply punched out. Then it was just a matter of cutting and gluing!

I used some crinkled seam binding and stick pins for a little vintage flair and that was it, easy peasy!

Here is a look at the Vintage Christmas Labels set I used in the project:

Back-2-School: Kerning

OK first a disclaimer: I am NOT caught up with my scrapbooking! I just like to scrap photos the day I take them sometimes while the moment is fresh! Here is a scrapbook page I made yesterday with photos I took yesterday as my kids went of to school:

Collage Sheet: Lindsay's stamp Stuff, Apple Clip Art: LillyBimble (Mygrafico.com), Font: LD Pencil (lettering Delights), paper: Autumn Leaves

I love back to school time, I loved that new pencil box smell, new school clothes and getting back with my friends after a summer apart…of course that got old quick and I would long for lazy days by the pool LOL!

I also decided to make some backpack tags, they are so quick and fun, I used two freebies from Lindsay’s stamp Stuff: Shipping Tag template and Back to School Collage sheet. the tab on the bottom left photo was from the teacher’s helper kit. The apple clip art is from the Super fruit kit by LilyBimble and you can snag all of these goodies at MyGrafico.

Handy Stuff to Know: I want to talk a bit about kerning today, kerning is the spacing between letters in a font. Most of the time the letters you type will be just fine but sometimes if you have a font where the characters connect (like a cursive or script font) they won’t line up just right. Take a look at this example using the Font LD Pencil from Lettering Delights (that I used on the name tags and scrapbook page and it is on sale for a dollar!) and also a cursive font called Little Days:

this example was done in Paint shop pro, if you are using Microsoft word and want to adjust the kerning go to format, font and click the character spacing tab then click the spacing box and it gives you the option to condense (squish the letters together) or expand (spread them apart) play with the spacing until you like the look.

I wanted to make sure the backpack tags I made would survive the elements so I cut a slit in a 3″x5″ ATC baggie and slipped in my paper tags feeding the ribbon through the hole and sealed it shut on the bottom. I could have laminated it with packing tape too, just be sure to do that before you set your eyelet and add ribbon.

This project qualifies for the following challenges: silhouette 10 (sketch), A crafty Little Place (anything goes), Fussy and Fancy Friday, Incy Wincy, S2G , Simple Doodles and Stamp Challenges (back to School)

Also a great deal! Lettering Delights has everything on sale for a dollar but they also have  extra coupons you can use on top of that: 10% off a $10 and up purchase: TakeTen or 30% off a $25 purchase: TakeThirty That is a fantastic deal! I love the Doodlebats they sell because the cut great in my Cricut using SCAL software and you don’t need to convert them because they are ready to cut! OMG SCAL is on sale too for $59.95 regular $75. I love a good sale!

Grad Paper Freebie!

It’s that time of year, pretty soon pomp and circumstance will be playing as family and friends walk down the aisle to get their diplomas. Isn’t it exciting! Here are some quick cards you can whip up using fabulous products from Lindsay’s Stamp Stuff:

Stamps, Paper: Lindsay's Stamp Stuff, Dies: Cuttlebug

I used digital stamps from the school rules set, here is my favorite card close up. I am entering it into the MyTime To Craft challenge (too cute theme cuz the grad girl is so cute!) and for the YNS Challenge (cut it out and pop it up) There is 2 laters of foam tape on the grad girl!  the other 3 cards are for the Stampin For the Weekend challenge (cards for guys) Yes, no pink! can you believe it?

I used foam tape for dimension, I colored the image with Copics.

I have a new paper pack to show you today. I wanted to design a school themed paper set that would be easy on the ink cartridges so I came up with the Elegant & Shabby School Papers. You can print it on white paper for a modern look, or on cream or pastel cardstock for a shabby chic look, or on bright primary color paper for a school kid look. So versatile and the set of 8 12×12 papers and 2 card sheets is on sale for $2.95!

Today’s freebie is a printable sheet with 4 papers, simply print, cut apart and adhere to your card base. Click the picture to download:

Thursday Freebies Folks!

Hi there! I hope you are all having a great day 🙂 With mother’s day right around the corner I thought I would whip up a few cards using my new Old Paper set, my old Fancy Flowers set , my Envelope Bonanza templates and today’s freebie:

Stamps: Old Paper, Fancy Flowers, Envelope Template: Envelope Bonanza all from Lindsay's stamp stuff

Tip of the day: don’t be Lazy, make matching envelopes 🙂 If you have a Cricut and SCAL software you can cut my Envelope Bonanza Templates in Seconds! If you don’t you can make the printable envelopes in a minute or two, no excuses 😉

These cards qualify for the following challenges: Clearly I Stamp, Craft Your PAssion, Creative Card CrewDare you to Digistamp,   One Stitch at a timePaper Cutz, Paper Popsicles and the middle card is for 2 Sketches 4 You.

The paper and stamps were all printed on one sheet of cardstock, I layered the stamps over the paper and filled the center with the paint bucket tool using white at 100% then added the flower stamp over that. I filled in the “torn” pieces with the paintbucket using white at 40% so it would be a bit lighter than the background then I added a drop shadow (very blurry) to give a little more depth, You get a nice 3-D effect that way! Here is how my sheet of cardstock looked:

By arranging this in Paint Shop Pro before printing I get all of the paper and elements for 3 cards on one sheet of cardstock! And I saved it so it is ready next time I need a quick card. I let the flower are white so I could color it with Copics:)

Now you could simply print the torn stamp on pattern paper and color the torn paper bits with a white colored pencil and cut out the center to layer over a stamped image too, it is up to you and how you prefer to craft:) There is no right or wrong way! Here is a closer look at the cards:

Now for the freebie, I made a little set of tickets you can use for cards, I love them because they are easy to color and trim and FREEEEEEE! Click the pic to download!

3-D Advent Calendar and a Freebie!

Update: The Gingerbread man SVG was missing from the freebie zipfile. I rezipped it and you can download the freebie here. So sorry for any inconvenience 😉

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone in the states 😉 I’ll be spending the afternoon with my parents having some yummy food and enjoying my family’s company. The great thing about being a vegetarian on thanksgiving is that no one asks you to cook anything, yep, I still get to mooch like a college student;) I’ll probably make some rolls and humus and maybe a vegan banana cream pie, yum!

This week I worked on crafting kit that you can use to make an Advent calendar:

3-D Advent calender kit, only $3, form Lindsay's stamp Stuff, Pattern paper: K&Co, Cardstock: Staples, The Paper Co.

A 12 days of Christmas calendar:

Arrange 9 green boxes and 3 brown boxes to make this cute, quick, calendar!

And Christmas ornaments (picture a little paper trunk underneath so it looks like a Christmas tree, I completely spaced when I made this LOL!)

One box makes an ornament 😉

And there is more you can make with the 3-D advent kit too, like a “cake” centerpiece by arranging the boxes in a circle and favor boxes for table place settings. I included a sheet of printable numbers for the calendar as well as a sheet of printable tags and blanks if you want to write a name in them. The numbers are sized to fit a 1 1/2″ circle punch perfectly saving you time and making this craft easy. I included a template with instructions written on it and I also put another printable template that has just the cutting and folding lines and there are two boxes on that sheet so you can put your 8 1/2″x11″ green cardstock in your printer and print the template right on the paper with little waste, no tracing, YAY! For those of you with Cricut Machines and SCAL software I have SVG cutting file in the kit so you can cut it with whatever Cricut you have! If you dont have SCAL yet you can use this coupon code: 97994821 to save 10% on the software, hurry, it expires on 11/30/09!

Here is a look at the 3-D Advent Calendar Kit available for $3 at the Lindsay’s stamp Stuff Shop, remember, for ever $5 you spend you get to pick a single stamp for free!

3-D Advent kit, only $3 in the LSS shop!

Speaking of free, here is a little freebie for my stamping AND SCAL/Cricut friends. You get 2 digital stamps in both png and jpg format and 2 SVG cutting files to cut with your Cricut!

Origami and other neat stuff!

Over at Oriental Stamp Art they challenged us to use origami this week.  Great! I had scanned some spin art papers that my son had made because I thought that they would be perfect for tea bag folding and I had a great vintage photo to use too.  Then I thought about the origami treat boxes I made last Halloween and how they would be perfect to store them bunch of $1 alphabet stamps I bought last year but never use because they are a pain to take out and put back in the teeny boxes they come in.

To make the blotter cut a peice of 13x13" matboard and cover with paper, cut 2 4" chipboard squares in half, cover with paper and attach to the corners from behind.
To make the blotter cut a piece of 13x13" matboard and cover with paper, cut 2 4" chipboard squares in half, cover with paper and attach to the corners from behind.

So I made some storage boxes (to make see my easy tutorial here and start with a 6″x6″ paper) and while I was at it I decided to take some scrap matboard ( cut 13″x13″) and mulberry paper (from the wrapping paper isle of the dollar tree) and make a blotter that I can refill with unloved scrapbook paper (hey the backside is white after all) and when I finished that I got around to making a card:
