Hi friends! I decided that on Wednesdays in the summer during the Ask a Crafter hiatus I would ruminate on my own craft questions. This week I wonder: Is Scrapbooking dead? What do you think?
I posted this video on YouTube the other day and I was overwhelmed by the response! I have decided that I would film a series of back to basic scrapbooking videos. I need your help, what topics would you like me to cover? Photo printing options, basic supplies, multi-page layouts? Let me know. I want to present scrapbooking as a sustainable inexpensive hobby that can be done as simply or elaborately as you like. If you have any scrapbook questions or problems that you would like addressed please let me know. I want to cover as many bases as I can without being overwhelming. Do you think I can do it? I hope so! Thanks for sharing your input and til next time happy crafting!
Hello friends! Again it is another night I am grateful to have a video planned and in the can LOL! I went swimming at “my pond” with my girls late this afternoon. I am typically a soak in the sun until I am too hot, take a quick dip and back to the sun, type of girl but today I swam. We got home, had dinner and chilled out. One of my girls asked to read to me and as I listened I fell asleep! Swimming really does tire you out…well, me not my kids, they were all going strong until 5 minutes ago LOL! Anyway, it is Wednesday and time for part 4 of the Ask a Crafter marathon Kathy, Lorraine and I filmed earlier this month:
I was thinking what I was going to do on other Wednesdays this summer and I think I will do random crafty vlogs. I’ll chat about one topic and you can tell me your opinion too. It should be fun! I hope you are having a wonderful summer and til next time happy crafting!
Howdy friends! Last week I mentioned on Ask a Crafter that this would be my last AAC episode until September and we were flooded with great questions. I wanted to answer them all! Kathy came up with the great idea of doing a marathon of 20 minute videos and to release them each day until they are done. I loved it and Lorraine was game to join us hours after returning from the stamp show. So on my YouTube channel I will post an AAC video daily and here on my blog I will post one each Wednesday for the next 4 weeks. So depending on the type of person you are you can binge watch them or savor them:) Oh and because I had like 143 people ask, yes, I am still doing craft and painting videos throughout the summer:) Without further ado here is Ask a Crafter 40 part 1…oh wait one more thing, if you have a question you can post it and I will answer them as I have time, but if you need an answer ASAP post it on the Frugalcrafter Facebook page and a frugal friend will respond (um, that’s you guys helping each other out, yay!) Big thanks to those who have jumped in and helped AAC folks and Facebook friends with their questions, it was a big help when I was away this weekend and you have awesome ideas so please keep it up!
That was fun! Next week I’ll have part 2 but if you can’t wait hop over to my YouTube channel, part 2 is already up and there are 2 more coming after that. Thanks for stopping by and til next time happy crafting!
Stop the world I wanna get off! LOL! Hi Friends 😀 Whew, the end of the school year certainly sneaks up on you doesn’t it? Between running to baseball games, softball practice, finishing up projects and enjoying the small scraps of springlike weather we have been blessed with year I feel like I am a spinning top (with a screw loose!) I think I would forget my head if it was not attached today. Oh well, now I get to chill out and relax for the evening, and you can too, while enjoying this weeks episode of Ask a Crafter:
Reminder: Next week is our last episode until September so if you have questions get them in or you can ask over on the Facebook group anytime during the summer and someone will be there to help, we have a wonderful community of over 2000 crafters and the more the merrier I think! I will still have lots of video tutorials of course so don’t worry:) Sorry to keep this so short tonight , thanks for watching and for all the great questions (you can leave them in the comments for next weeks show.) Thanks for stopping by and til next time happy crafting!
Howdy friends, time again for another Ask a Crafter. Luckily Kathy is feeling better and she is back on the show but Lorainne is sick with a sore throat. I just can’t seem to get us all together, oh well, maybe next week I’ll be sick and they could do the show and I could sit back and watch, now that would be a kick, I tell you! We have a diverse bunch of great questions this week. From using old thread, to the difference between India Inks and liquid watercolors and craft vs artist watercolors and we will even discuss what animal products are in some of the art supplies we use. All that and more in this weeks AAC:
I had a great comment by hovawart16 on the YouTube watch page about animal products in art supplies that I neglected to mention:
“Did you mention silk? Silk thread, cochineal color, and shellac are all harvested cruelly. I admit that I enjoy using them, but lately I’ve been thinking about all these tiny creatures, so patiently creating beauty, and then, especially the silk worm, being boiled alive because we are in such a hurry to grab it all for ourselves.”
And this other great point from joannesminis:
“As someone that has lived on a farm all my life and has raised sheep in the past I do want to clear up something. If we did not shear the sheep for the wool they would literally die of heat stroke. It is simply a hair cut, the sheep are not really hurt in the process. I have personally sheared many a sheep in my day and believe me when I say I was in worse shape at the end of the day than any of them were,.”
But what I really appreciated was the acceptance and respect my viewers have for each others opinions. You folks are the best! If you have a question for next weeks show leave a comment. If you have a comment about the show or something to add to another’s question go ahead. I think some of the best advise comes from you guys answering each other’s questions. Sharing is caring people! Thanks for stopping by and til next time happy crafting!
Hello friends! It’s Wednesday and time for another fun filled episode of ask a crafter! I got some really great questions this week. Did your question get answered? Watch and see!
I loved the colored pencil fix, what a money saver! If you have a question for next weeks show just leave it in the comments section! So, today I had the day free for project planning, I had high hopes but only managed to push paint around. I decided that I might be able to get some computer work done since my “muse” was on an inspiration vacation and YouTube has a new feature where you can put a 3 second “branding” video up that will show before all of your videos. The video is supposed to represent your channel. This is what I came up with…
…yes, that pretty much sums up my channel, don’tcha think? Well that’s it for me tonight. I’m hoping tomorrow is a more creative day. If not I might have to sink to doing housework-perish the thought! 😀 Thanks for stopping by and til next time happy crafting!
Howdy friends! Another week, another Ask a Crafter! Lorraine is in the craft room with me today and I have to give her credit, she did not zone out when I mentioned the words “color theory”, then again after today’s episode I am the last person to scold someone about staying on track. Without further ado, here is this weeks AAC:
I just wanted to reiterate that if you asked a question last week and it was not answered please look for a reply to your comment either on the YouTube watch page or the blog post, whereever you left it. I do answer all of the questions, just not all on the show. If you have a question for next weeks show, such as “how do you give a chicken a bath?” just leave it in the comments! Thanks so much for watching and til next time happy crafting!
Phew, what a busy day! I got my oil changed, grocery shopped, taught a knitting class and in my spare time filled digital stamp orders from my fabulous blog readers! I had a chance to chat with many of you via email today, it was so nice to “meet” many of you, thank you! Yesterday Kathy and I filmed ask a crafter and it was such a nice day that we walked after taping. We had another gorgeous day today so at least we know the weather was not an April Fools Day joke LOL! Without further ado here is the latest episode.
Here are the links I mentioned in the video:
The Cotman Watercolor travel Palette, I thought it was $30 but it is only $24, oops! I’ve had mine for about 15 ears and I simply refill it with tube colors when the half-pans of color ran out, it is a great palette and it comes with a collapsible brush. I bring a container of water with me for painting on location. The Kool-Aid or Tang plastic containers of drink mix are perfect because you can fill it with water and the measuring cap is a great rinse pot, you can use both sides for dirty and clean water too! If this makes no sense I am sorry 😛 Sorry and tired LOL!
Here is a link to the video demonstrating how to paint on fabric with Inktense pencils and fabric medium, it is really fun and if you make art quilts you will really like this!
Sorry to keep it so short tonight, I was reading on the couch before posting this and I dozed off! I though oh no! It is Wednesday I have to blog Ask a Crafter LOL! If you have a question for next week please leave a comment and til next time happy crafting!
Happy Wednesday folks! We are now up to 26 episodes of Ask a Crafter, can you believe it? and I am still getting new question every week, you guys think up some good ones too! So, without further ado let’s see what was on viewers minds this week:
Ha! And I got my pumpkin scones! And they were delish, thank you Kathy! If you have a question for us just leave a comment and we will either type an answer or read it on the next show! If you haven’t checked out the Frugal Crafter Community on Facebook yet please do and share what you have been working on, we have some wonderful friends over there, it has been 2 days since I opened it and we already have over 700 members (it makes me feel kinda famous LOL!) Before I forget I mentioned a couple links in the video:
