Wow! Sometime yesterday my blog reached 2 million page views! I am really psyched because WordPress does not count my own visits (if that was the case I’d have hit 2 mil years ago LOL!) so that means that actual people are reading this. Thanks people! Well, I am still sewing up a storm to get ready for Saturday’s craft fair so I have little time to chit-chat. Here is a necklace/earring set I made a couple weeks ago. Enjoy!
PS don’t forget to sign up to win the stamp featured in yesterday’s post! On to the pictures, thanks for visiting and til next time happy crafting!
I like to listen to audio books. I listen when I fold laundry, drive, cook and craft. I really feel like I can savor a good book this way since I tend to skim over the slow bits of a book when I “read” or I fall asleep mid page. I’d much rather be multitasking:) I also have the bad habit of bailing of a book halfway though and returning it to the library or a friend with my bookmark still inside (I have left bookmarks all over town!) so it is nice to use up my scraps and make a few every now and then to replenish my stash. Oh, back to the audio book, I was listing to the book “The Help” when I made these:
I honestly could not tell you how any sewing theme stamps I own, I started collecting them about 6 years ago, I have been able to pick up quite a few sets lately because of the growing popularity of vintage sewing stuff. So my collection keeps on growing! The thing I love about vintage is that it will never go out of style. Collect away girls! BTW the stamps I used were from a Cling Mount (real rubber) set by TPC at Joanns, it was $6.99 but I used a coupon and got it for $3.50 BUT I think all of their stamps are 40% off this week!
I finished “The Help: this weekend so I’ll have to find another audiobook to listen to, any suggestions? I think I am the mood for a thriller now! Who knows what I will make listing to it 🙂 Thanks for stopping by and til next time happy crafting!
Hi Folks! I’ve been waiting to post this video since August! I used some awesome button and Jewel stamps from Pink Persimmon in this tutorial and they kept selling out of them so I wanted to wait until they were back in stock because you might want them after seeing this! I made paper tape out of stamps and sticker paper, it was so fun and easy, you can see the tape on this card, the video is at the end of the post:
I made a ruffle out of crepe paper and used glitter nail polish to add quick drying bling to the jewel. I colored my rhinestone with marker to match and made my own seam binding. You can see more tips like that in my latest article in Scrap & Stamp Arts!
Also I wanted to tell you that I have a new article out in the January 2012 issue of Scrap & Stamp Arts Magazine! It is filled with my favorite tips on making your own craft supplies titled, what else? The Frugal Crafter! Check it you on newsstands or get your copy here.
Here is the video, enjoy!
Thanks for stopping by and til net time happy crafting!
The tags can be used as bookmarks. i love tags because hey are the perfect size to try out colors and techniques. For instance I made the background button stamp by heating up a foam block with a heat gun and pressing it on to a pile of buttons then inked it ip with light pink ink to stamp the background.
These cards can be sent to friends who need a “pick me up” or a bit of support.
I drew the stitching in with the new fine liner nibs from ProMarker, they come 3 to a pack and you just sanp them on top of your fine end of you ProMarkers and they work like a dream!
Here is a look at the products I used from Pink Persimmon.

Ahhh, the lazy, hazy days of summer! I had a fabulous week ‘away from it all’ last week, it was a great time to kick back and relax and enjoy the start of summer! These long hot days are the perfect time to have a party…an ice cream party that is!
With a vintage cream palette you will be entertaining in style, all you need to add is the ice cream! Check out the fun sugar cone wrappers included in the ice cream party kit:
A vintage glass flower frog holds them up while you fill them and doesnt lit look pretty? You can find these at antique shops for under $10 for clear ones, if you come across a colored glass one be sure to snag it up because they are few and far between, also these heavy glass frogs will hold down your outdoor tablecloth nicely! Here is a banner you can hand from your food table, it comes blank but you can easly customize the printable JPG templates.
You also get water bottle wraps (great for keeping trace who’s drink is who’s and soda can wraps which I printed slightly smaller to wrap around my shaker of “sprinkles”
For an easy favor you can simply wrap a candy bar, think of a dozen of these in a pretty basket!
Or use the sugar cone wrapper to make a mussie-tussie, you can have an assortment of old-fashioned candy and mini scoops and quests can fill their own favor!
An ice cream party is a simple way to celebrate a summer birthday. Here is a look at the Ice Cream Party Kit from Lindsay’s Stamp Stuff:

First of all today I have an announcement to make…..{please pause for drumroll and fanfare}…….ahem, OK…Get this, I was picked to be on the Pink Persimmon Creative Team! Yahoo! I was asked to be an “Education Specialist” that is fancy for “I’ll make videos and show ya how to do crafty stuff” 🙂 But, pssst, that’s not all {I say in a hushed whisper} I will be designing some exclusive rubber stamps for them too! In the meantime tho I’ll be bringing you some fun projects with the stamps currently in the Pink Persimmon catalog. Here is a fun teacher’s gift set I made with a few Pink Persimmon stamp sets:
This is a dry erase board {made from a 8.5″x11″ document frame with glass from the dollar store} for one of my daughter’s teachers. To make this I simply stamped 5 banners from the Small Banner Set in the corner of a 7.5″x10″ sheet of lightly patterned cream paper and over stamped the word “notes” using the Carnival small alpha set. I stamped the Wise Old Owl in the corner with the same color inks. I added some filler stars from the Little Red Wagon set too. Since this is all flat stamping I stamped directly on pattern paper to unify the piece. Then I mounted that stamped paper onto a 8.5″x11″ coordinating pattern. I added a brass eye-hook to the side of the frame so I could tie on a dry erase marker with “abc” patterned twill tape.(the ribbon is tied to the cap so it is easy to remove the marker part for writing.) The “Mrs Wood’s” text was stamped with the Small Soda Pop alpha, I love how well the cursive letters line up!
Here is a picture of the stamping before I put it under glass:
What I love most about these stamps is how quickly you can pull a project together. Since I used mostly solid image stamps no coloring was involved making it a quick and fun project. My kids are excited to make some more of these sets for their teachers this year.
I used the scraps from the dry erase board to cover a clean tin can then I stamped more banners and glued them on along with some more patterned twill tape. I used a safety can opener to remove the lid from the can so the edges were not sharp.
Lastly I thought it would be fun to make some cute clips. I think these would be handy for flagging pages in their assignment books or to use as a book mark. I loved the offset scallop pattern from the tummy of the Wise Old Owl so I stamped some on a cream scrap and used a 1″ circle punch to cut them out and over-stamped numbers from the Large Soda Pop alpha set and glued them to large paper clips. I glued circles punched from patterned paper scraps on the back so you wouldn’t see my gobs of hot glue 😀 Wanna know something else cool? The frame, dry erase markers (4 in a pack) and paper clips are all from the dollar store, add in a recycled can and you have a groovy gift for little dinero! Also I used 2 sheets of paper (and a few scraps) from Autumn Leaves.
***Edited to add: I realize that you might not know how this is a dry-erase board {and I didn’t think to snap a photo of the board with a note written on it} well, the glass on the front of the stamped paper in the frame will work just like a dry-erase board. I left the center of the stamped picture plain so the teacher can write notes there like this:
I hope that makes sense 😀
