Glimmer Bubble Paper, a Valentine and a Winner!

Well happy Friday friends! I’m just gonna jump right in and announce the winner of the About Art Accents Year of the Horse stamp set winner, it’s:  poetryoflifebyjane! Congrats! 172 people entered and your name was drawn, have fun with your new stamps! :D  If you didn’t win, no worries, the stamp set is on sale for $12.99 (regularly $19.99) and it is worth every penny:) Today I am using more stamps by About Art Accents, some Valentine stamps to make this card:

DCF 1.0

I am entering in the Oriental Stamp Art challenge to use Mizuhiki cord but I didn’t have any so I used satin Rat-tail cord from Papermart instead. I make do. I also made the background paper using a moldy-oldie stamping technique that would be just right for all of the artsy-fartsy cards, scrapbooks and journals we like to make. Get some white glue, cheap eye-shadow and you heat gun cuz I’m gonna show you how it’s done!

After posting that video I was asked for ideas using it in a card, well, here it is:

I hope you have a crafty weekend! We might eek out of the single digits tomorrow (yeah, heatwave baby, where’s my suntan oil?) so that is quite exciting! Thanks for stopping by and til next time happy crafting!

A Quick and Fun Classroom Valentine You Can Make Today!

Howdy folks! We are totally snowed in today, oh my the snow drifts are up to our porch railing! We are staying in at least until the snow stops falling and the winds die down. What a great time to make valentines! These are the ones my daughter Lila will be handing out:

DCF 1.0

They are really easy too and inexpensive since I got all of my supplies from papermart. I used their bakers twine in red and teal, polka dot and shimmer pink tulle, printed satin ribbon, and large unstrung merchandise tags. I also used stamps, ink and glue from my regular stash. Have a look at the video to see how I made them:

Pretty easy huh? I brought my tray of supplies upstairs today and put it at the Kitchen table so the kids could work on the valentines util the wind slowed down enough for them to get out and play. Sometimes it’s just nice to hang out with the kids and craft, dontcha think? Stay warm and safe this weekend especially if you are getting hammered by this blizzard, til next time happy crafting!

DCF 1.0

I “Chews” you! {Valentine & more stamping tips!}

OK folks, I have to post this on the down-low because if my kids see this they will wrangle it away from me before Valentines day LOL! I swear, my kids are like ants and they can sniff out any sugar source in my studio as soon I bring it in, it is a weird 6th sense…like a candy ESP or something. My kids love gum and gumball machines so I decided to make these for them for valentine’s day:

Don’t worry, I will give them all the same amount of gumballs! Actually I am making the mini pails (I got them in the dollar spot at Target after Christmas for .50 cents each, if they have any left they are probably cheaper now!) for them but I wanted to show an option of a large mason jar too. Both are cute! The large mason jar take 4 bags of gumballs to fill (Dollar Store size bags) and the pails take 2 bags. I placed sandwich bags in the pails first because I don’t know if the pails are food-safe.

On to the tips!

  • Notice the fiber wrapped pail handle. Rather than spend 30 minutes tieing short lengths of ribbon to the pail handle (which would be totally cute but expensive x 3 kids and time-consuming) I just wrapped a couple of yards of fancy fur yarn around it. Quick, easy and just as cute!
  • Those $1 alphabet sets from Joann/ACmoore are fun but the boxes they come in are not. Make a slightly larger origami box from paper so you can have a looser container for them and it will be easy to fish them out and use them and quick to put them away again. I have directions to make the box here.
  • Use a rubber band to hold stamps together when stamping with these mini stamps, it is so much quicker and your letters stay evenly spaced.
  • Color with ink to match your project! I dipped a brush in the grey ink I stamped with then watered it down to paint the jar lids. A perfect match and no need to drag out more supplies!
  • Flip a clear stamp! I only had 3 convo-heart stamps but wanted more colors so I flipped one of the clear hearts backwards on my block and stamped with the backside to make the plain yellow hearts in the jar. You can stamp a shadow of almost any clear stamp just by sticking it on the block backwards and stamping with the smooth side of the stamp, Neat! It’s like have twice as many clear stamps!

Here is a look at the tips in action:

And a close up of the stamps + rubber band:

A brief sidebar…How hard is it to find a large canning jar stamp anyway?!? I looked online for weeks for a simple large canning jar and couldn’t find a thing then I tracked the one I used down directly from Inkadinkado and ordered it on the spot direct from the company. I was so frustrated that I grabbed my own collection of vintage canning jars and made a digistamp set called Funky Jars to Fill:

Funky Jar Stamps

But I used the rubber stamp I bought cuz after all that work tracking it down I had to use it LOL! Thanks for allowing my shameless plug tho ;)

Have a great weekend (Go PATS!!!) and til next time happy crafting!

Handmade Valentines for Kids and Teachers!

Howdy folks! I wanted to share a new SVG/Printable set I designed last week called Valentines Galore! There are many templates in this kit to satisfy all of your kid’s classmates, teachers and whoever you want to make a valentine for.

I love the 3-D heart purse, it is so easy because it cuts as one piece out of a standard sheet of cardstock. It is also quick to print and cut if you do not have a die cut machine :D

I think this library pocket would be cute filled with pencils for a teacher or even as a journaling pocket on a scrapbook page! Also I included a pencil topper so if you don’t want to give out candy you can still give something sweet!

The conversation heart box covers are awesome! These are inspired by an iPod valentine I saw in the magazine Family Fun. I thought how about a calculator and a cell phone too! The really cool thing is you can cut several of these designs out of a few different colors of cardstock and mix & match the buttons and dials. These designs will import in SCAL the exact size of a box of convo-hearts (sweethearts brand) so there is no need to resize anything;) There is no wasted paper and the kids can use white glue to glue the pieces straight to a box of convo-hearts! Easy, inexpensive and the kids can do it themselves. You can le them write their own “texts” in the window and you can still use the to/from spot on the back of the convo heart box.

I also included a plain box in case you wanted to used the covers but fill with your own goodies or even a mini coloring book and crayons!

I hope this gives you some fun ideas to use this valentine’s day! Here is a look at the Valentine’s Galore kit:

A Simple Valentine and a Printing Tip!

Happy Friday folks! I hope you have some time to get crafty this weekend. We have a weekend full of basketball games, cheering and the Pinewood Derby! Fun, fun, fun! Valentine’s day will be here before you know it. Here is a card you can make in about 15 minutes:

Simply make a 5″x7″ card from kraft cardstock. Cut panels of paper to fit (I used the new Hugs & Kisses digital paper pack From Lindsay’s Stamp Stuff), ink the edges of the paper and adhere to card. Cut a slit on the fold of the card to thread ribbon through  and wrap a length of grossgrain ribbon around the card and tie in a bow. It will use about 18″ of ribbon which seems a bit wasteful but I bought it at the dollar tree so no worries ;) The jar and conversation heart stamps are digistamps from my Funky Jar Digital stamp set. All of the goodies that come in the kit are scaled to fit the jars perfectly, I added the hearts (png version) in the jar in PSP, saved the file incase I wanted to use it again, printed it and colored it with markers. I adhered it over the paper and ribbon with foam tape. I stamped “Be Mine, Valentine” on a scrap of white, inked and adhered it. Quick and easy!

And now for my printing tip….

If you want to quickly print out digital papers try this:

  1. Click on the start menu, then computer and find the folder your digital papers are in.
  2. Select all of the papers you want to print by holding the “ctrl” button and clicking on them with your mouse.
  3. Click print, in Vista it will be on the top of your open window but it might be to the left of bottom in other windows versions.
  4. Now choose what size you want your prints. You can print full pages of paper, half pages or quarter pages. Note: The paper will be scaled down. For instance if you choose full sheet the pattern will be larger than the pattern on a quarter sheet because it resizes the paper to fit the smaller space. In the example I printed 12 papers on the 4 to a page setting and the patterns are about 20% of original size. As a bonus they are a great scale for cards!

That’s it, the printer will print as many pages as needed to print all of the pattern paper sheets you selected!

Vintage Lovin’, a Sale and a Freebie!

Hello folks! Before I tell you about my project today I want to let you know EVERYTHING in the Lindsay’s Stamp Stuff shop is 30% off through this weekend! Woohoo! Now here is a fun little easel card and envelope I made using Love Grows, On The Line and Posh ‘n Trendy digital stamps from Lindsay’s Stamp Stuff:

Here is a close peek at the bottom of the card:

Easel cards are fun, and so simple to make. For mine I took a 6″x12″ cardstock and scored it a 6″ and 9″, fold valley style at 6″and 9″ and you will see how it make a triangle shape if you look from the side. Now create a 6″x6″ panel of crafty goodness and attach it to the last 3″ that is folded over. In this photo I opened it up and you can see how it is attached, remember you are only adhering the bottom half of the 6×6 panel to the 3″x6″ fold over piece:

When you fold it back up the card stands proudly on display!

And look, when it is time to mail it folds neatly into a square! Cool huh?

Here is a look at the products I used on this card {Remember they are 30% off along with everything else at LSS right now!}

Now for the freebie, I have a son in scouts and this month it is pinewood derby month so I made a checkerboard flag banner that you can use for Pinewood Derby, Soapbox Derby, a NASCAR party or even a Cars kids birthday party, it’s FUN and FREE! Click the pic to download :)

A Birthday Playdate!

Wow, what a weekend, it was super busy but super fun too! Yesterday we invited two of my girls’ twin friends over for a birthday playdate, their friends just turned 7 and we want to celebrate with a low-key but fun afternoon. I printed off some cupcake wrappers and activities from the Valentine Classroom Party Printable kit and some party hats, water bottle wraps, place cards and a banner from the new Valentine Party Add-on kit:

To add a splash of festive color to the table I covered it in valentine wrapping paper I picked up at Target (love the dollar spot!) this is a perfect solution if you do not have table linens to match and it looks so much nice than the plastic disposable covers-cheaper and more eco-friendly too and it makes clean-up a snap!

I wanted to have a fun little activity for the girls to do while they hung out and chatted so the printable activity sheets from the Valentine Classroom Party Kit was perfect for that, I just printed one sheet for each guest and cut them apart, that gives you 4 activities!I put crayons in a vintage glass flower frog, it adds to the decor and is practical too. I keep an eye out for these whenever I am in an antique shop! If you can’t find a glass frog you can cut a styrofoam ball in half and poke crayons in that.

Here are the cupcakes, they are so quick and fun. You get 3 wrappers and toppers on one printable sheet, they are quick to cut and all you need is a dab of hot glue to attach the topper to a toothpick and glue the wrapper closed. The girls were so cute, they wanted to save their wrappers to take home. It is impossible to keep a cupcake wrapper clean so I printed them a couple of sheets to bring home with them, I guess their American Girl dolls will be having cupcake parties too!

Here is the banner from the add-on kit, and check out the cut party hats also in the kit! The banner only takes 2 sheets of cardstock! I cut between the triangles with mini wavy scissors and hot glued them to a length of ribbon then tacked it to the wall, easy peasy!

To keep the party hats secure on their heads just tape a length of elastic cord (made for beading) to each side of the hat on the inside. I cut the bottom of the hats with scallop scissors to add a bit of flair.

Here is a look at the kits I used:

This kit would also be perfect for Valentines parties and baby showers!

$1 retirement stamp sets and new Valentine goodies!

Hey! It’s time to make room for new product in the Lindsay’s Stamp Stuff shop at MyGrafico and I have a bunch of retiring sets that you can snag for $1, You will still be able to purchase the sets in my Shophandmade shop {at full price} but why not grab a deal now?

I have been in the mood for Valentine’s day this week {with a cold New England winter ahead it is something nice to look forward too plus I have ALWAYS loved Valentines day!} Here are some cards I made with the SVG die cutting files that are included in my new A Little Lovin’ kit from Lindsay’s stamp Stuff, I used my Cricut and SCAL software to die cut all the shapes.

I love how these “sweet” cards are not Valentine specific, heck you can use these long after Valentines day!

And of course a valentines card for hubby {let’s hope he isn’t reading my blog today :) LOL}

Tip: When making a batch of cards arrange all of your die cuts on one mat separated by color, then place different colored papers on the mat. That is how I cut these designs all in one pass in about 5 minutes!

Now here is a look at the A Little Lovin’ set, you get clip art in JPG and PNG format plus fully editable EPS and SVG art files and SVG cutting files that have been specifically optimized for die cutting.

Did you know that most of my clip art sets come with SVG cutting files at no extra charge, gotta love a little something extra:) Speaking of a little something extra here is a cute Valentine digital stamp freebie. To download click on the image, then right-click on the larger picture and choose “Save as” Easy peasy (and no waiting for 4shared-I hate that!)

Cleaning my craft room…NOT!

Well at least I tried too but as always I got distracted by all of the little pretties scattered about and made a scrapbook page instead. Before I get distracted again :) Let me remind you that SELECT digital stamp sets are 50% off in both the Lindsay’s stamp Stuff shophandmade shop and my shop at MyGrafico.

OK, now here is the layout:

Look at what I had lying around on my craft table! I'd rather scrap that put stuff away any day!

I used leftovers just lying around on my scrap table, the flower digi stamps are from the Fancy Flower digital stamp set, the panda is a dollar stamp from inkadinkado, the conversation hearts are from About art Accents and the post-it notes are form the dollar aisle at JoAnns. All of these stamps had been stamped and colored and they were just lying about on my table at the time, at least there are a few things I don’t have to put away LOL!

Thanks for stopping by and till next time happy crafting!
