Heirloom Winners!

Hi friends! I am telling you, I am such a ding-dong this month. With so much going on between my regular videos and blog posts, classes and the kids end of the school year stuff (my son started drivers ed, yikes!) I have been running in many directions! I completely forgot to announce the winners of the Heirloom Productions Stamp Show Tickets! They are: Karen Stevens, Debra Graham, Monika.Buzsy, Mary Nieb, Kris Storts, Betty Wlazlo, and Donna Birney. Please check your inbox for an email from Nikki at Heirloom containing your tickets! See you at the show! If you didn’t win you can purchase tickets to the show on the Heirloom Productions website for $6 through 5/27/18 which is cheaper than at the door ($8/day or $14 for both days) but if you are taking a glass you get your admission to the show free.

I love attending the Heirloom Productions Stamp Show in W. Springfield MA, there are so many good vendors and I love seeing folks in person that I chat with here and on YouTube. People are so friendly and it is so nice to meet online crafty friends in person. I do hope you will say hello if you see me at the show! Last week I was notified that the Loose Watercolor Bouquet (Lilacs) class was nearly full but I do have spots open in the Loose Watercolor Roses class if anyone is interested. The past years I have taught at Heirlooms my classes have sold out so if you want to paint with me on Friday June 1st be sure to reserve your spot here.

I’ll be back tomorrow with a fun cardmaking tutorial with a sneaky die cutting hack! Til then happy crafting!

Watercolor Classes @ the W. Springfield Stamp Show & Ticket Giveaway!

Hi friends! I have some fun news to share today! Firstly I will be teaching two watercolor classes at the Heirloom Productions Rubber Stamp Show and Paper Arts Festival on June 1st 2018 (yikes! That’s less than a month away!) You can sign up for them here.  There are other fun classes running from 5/31-6/2 for card makers and paper crafters too and you can also rent a table to create while you are there. This year if you purchase a class in advance you get a free 2-day admission to the show. You can see the details on the Heirloom website.

Here are my classes available this year! Don’t worry if you can’t make it to the show, these classes will also be in my next online course: Loose Watercolor Flowers. You can take both of my classes if you want (most students do) as there is no overlap in content. I try to design diverse classes so people can learn as much as they can!

Finished painting size is 11″x14″ and the cost for this class is $50. Materials are provided for use in class but if you have a small spray bottle of water it would be helpful to bring it.

Loose Watercolor Roses for Beginners (below) 6/1/18 3-5pm *you will learn the rose stroke technique and my “wet into spatter” techniques to help you loosen up and create 3 small paintings. We will start off with a rosebud bookmark to warm up and then paint a floral swag and wreath. You will learn techniques for front facing roses, side facing roses, rosebuds, foliage and filler flowers.  The cost for this class is $50 and all materials are provided for use in class. All you need to bring is yourself and an open mind and willingness to learn! Space is limited to 20 students per class, visit the Heirloom productions website to sign up.

Polaroid Winner and There is still room to get into my watercolor techniques class!

Hi friends! Happy Friday! It just occurred to me that next week at this time I will be relaxing after teaching 2 classes at the Heirloom Stamp Show…more on that later, first I need to announce the winner of the Polaroid Zip Printer (drum roll….) Melissa Clodfelter! Yay! Please follow he instructions in the email I sent you so we can ship out your prize!

OK, stamp show housekeeping! I still have some room in my Watercolor Techniques for stampers class June 5th from 10am-12noon. In this class you will make 4 cards and learn how to expertly color a stamped image!

Of course I have goodies for you! You will get to keep the small reusable plastic palette and the paint that is in it (watercolor goes a long way so you should leave with enough to complete more projects at home) AND thanks to my friends over at Royal Brush you will take home a beautiful brush that will give you years of painting enjoyment. Plus the 4 lovely cards you will make. Not bad for the super low price at $35! You can register online here.

This is what we will be making:

Meet Up Announcement!!!! I will be at the Lost Coast Designs Booth at 1pm during the convention Saturday and Sunday if you want to meet me (and you can’t even begin to imagine how foolish I feel typing this, I mean, do I sound like a diva or what?)

But wait there’s more! Kathy and Lorraine will be there too! (BTW Kathy and Lorraine, if you are reading this would you mind coming over to the LCD booth at 1pm next weekend?) I’m like 99% sure they will show up.

I filmed a video the other day when I was packing to go teach at the show. If you have ever wondered what that is like have a look:

Thanks to Creative Options for the cool tote and for sponsoring that video!

If you had your heart set on taking the Using Watercolors to Stamp class you might be able to get a spot, there were only 2 spots left early this week when I called but it is worth a try. That class goes from 12:30-2pm and Students will make 3 cards and get the palette and brush as well! Love the free swag! If interested call Heirloom at 541-574-8000 to check availability, who knows, someone may have cancelled.

I plan on reporting from the show, I ordered a smart phone (who am I? It is a crazy upside down world!) so I can post photos and video. I plan to be most active on Twitter and Instagram so follow me if you want some behind the scenes and also pics of stamp show goodness! I also want to try shooting video with my new Android phone for you tube. Those are my intentions anyway. Wish me luck:) That’s all for tonight! I’m off to watch the kids play ball. Thanks for stopping by and til next time happy crafting!

I have tickets to giveaway & a coupon code! Life is good!

Hi friends! I am absolutely giddy, the folks at Heirloom Productions have given me some tickets to give away for the Heirloom Productions Rubber Stamp show in W. Springfield Massachusetts! I want to make sure the tickets go to folks who want them and live close enough to attend so if you want to win just leave a comment saying if I win tickets I will go! Also, because I am nosy, tell me what you want to see most at the show, a vendor, demos, your favorite crafter perhaps…just kidding! 😀 If you are not sure what to expect check out the Heirloom Productions website where they have a full list of vendors and classes that will be at the show. I will pick winners Sunday and post the winners names on my blog. You will receive your tickets via email. One of my favorite vendors that will be at the show is Lost Coast Designs, I bought my first stamps from them 3 years ago and have been a die hard fan ever since. Because I know everyone cannot get to the show I have a coupon to share with you if you buy more than 6 items, you get 20% off and free shipping! The prices at Lost Coast Designs are very reasonable so that is a really good deal! Use this code when shopping: RSCVC and don’t forget to tell them Lindsay sent you!

***how to use the coupon code: Use the Shopping Cart as usual and put “RSCVC” in the comments area to get your special pricing. If you use a credit card, she will calculate the discount before running your card; if you use PayPal, she will refund the discount back to your account.

Speaking of Lost Coast Designs, here is a fun card I made today with their Wizard of Oz stamps, watch the tutorial to see how!

The card was literally made from scraps near my paper cutter, don’t you love it when projects work out that way. I had just enough poppy paper left over from yesterdays project to use on this card. I only own 4 sets of label dies but they get quite a work out, I love cutting a label layer out of the center of a piece of card stock that is hidden because I can stretch that perfect color paper scrap and save weight on the card for mailing. It is two ways to save money! How about mixing and matching your markers? I recommend newbies to try out different brands in different colors so you can see what markers you prefer, they all work well together as long as they are the same type (alcohol or water-based) and they blend well together too. Why commit to one brand of markers when you are not sure it is the best for you? I love scrap cards, I always feel so good making something with leftovers, it’s like a free project, don’t you think? Thanks for stopping by and til next time happy crafting!

Stamps a Stencil & a Stipple Brush = Awesome!

Happy Friday folks, it is the first day of Summer Vacation and I have started my kids on their pre-TV routine: 30 minutes of IXL Math (a school recommended math program) and I have also informed them that their rooms have to be tidy before the TV is turned on! I know, I’m awfully mean, they also have to read 30 minutes (at least) a day but they don’t mind that. I went down to my studio the other day to tidy up but was distracted by the bin of new stamp show stuff so after clearing a spot to work I played with my new stash, I liked my first try so much I simply turned on the camera (which is always set up) and filmed the process. You can use whatever stamps and stencils you have, stencils with bigger holes work best, and dye based ink, You can use any large brush you have too.

Pretty fun huh? Now between this and the gelli-prints I am going to have to actually use these backgrounds before my pile-o-backgrounds gets out of control. Thanks for stopping by and til next time happy crafting!
