My First Time Working With a Scrapbook Kit!

Hi Friends! Do you ever get in a creative rut? Maybe you have trouble coming up with fresh new ideas with the same old supplies. I go quite a while between buying scrapbook supplies and stores where I live never have the new stuff so when Edith at Scrapbooking With Me Boutique asked me to be the guest designer for September and use the new kit I jumped at the chance. BTW they are having a Labor Day sale through Monday, prices reflect the discount, no coded needed:) Here is the layout I made with the kit featuring new 2014 My Minds Eye Paper and die cuts, stamps, stencils and more:

On the video I will show you all the techniques for making these pages, we will make a page start to finish using the contents of the kit plus white cardstock, adhesive and 4 colors of gelatos from my stash:

Here is a close up on the page we made in the video:

These scrapbook pages came together really quickly (for me) and I love the way they look! No work, all fun. I think I will have to try kits again and I hope you do to! Thanks for stopping by and til next time happy crafting!

Doh! I forgot adhesive!

Hi Friends! I hope you are enjoying Scrapbook week! Today I am going to share what I think are the 4 most important supplies you will need for scrapbooking except for photos and an album (because we already discussed those thoroughly) and apparently adhesive, yes you will want adhesive LOL!

Really the most important parts of a scrapbook page are the photos and the story. Here is a recap of the basic supplies:

  • cardstock
  • pens
  • page protectors (I dissed the Project Life Album yesterday but their page protectors are a wonderful value and I recommend them highly)
  • cutting tools: mat & knife or paper trimmer, scissors
  • And yes, adhesive, really I can’t believe I forgot that, geeze! I like 3M photo safe double sided tape.

Don’t get me wrong, I love decorating a page as much as the next scrapbooker but the essentials are listed above. Everything else is gravy and totally optional. Scrapbook the way you want, you do not need to spend hundreds of dollars to get started, use what you have and record those memories! Til next time happy crafting!

More Rainbow-y Goodness!

Howdy folks! It is really starting to feel like Spring! I can see the grass on the lawn now and I have to mop the floors every night…well, er… I SHOULD mop the floors every night due to the mud. Yay, before we know it it will be Spring!

I was in the mood to play with color. I had a box of clear crystal acrylic hearts from Papermart and I decided to color them with alcohol ink. It worked great! Here is a quick video to show you how:

Now, that method is est if you want to color a bunch of things at once but you can also color one of those crystals with a permanent marker after you adhere it to a card. That is quick and easy too. You can use this technique on any non-porous supply (metal, plastic, glass etc.) so buy bulk supplies in white and clear and alter them! It’s fun! Thanks for stopping by and til next time happy crafting!
