Hi friends! A YouTube viewer call us that yesterday and I thought it was so cute! I had Lorraine and Kathy over yesterday to shoot a couple episodes before Lorraine went south for the winter. I can’t blame her, I have been super annoyed lately and it seems to be temperature related, I have had such a hard time getting motivated to walk the dog or even go downstairs to my studio (did I mention is was 48 degrees down there this weekend…oh yes, I’ve whined about it every day…) Matter of Fact I have been toying with throwing my treadmill out and putting a nice art desk in my office so I could create in the warmth but I am not sure about being away from my supplies. First world problems right? I have no right to complain, I have supplies, I have a space of my own, so what if it is a little chilly. Maybe I am just getting old, I still have not warmed up from working down there today, I even still have my stocking hat on! I offered to let the girls film this weeks Ask a Crafter upstairs but knowing how much you all like the ambiance of the craft room we shot downstairs, and actually, I think all of our hot air warmed the place up! LOL! Sit back with the toasty warm beverage of your choice and enjoy this weeks Ask a Crafter:
I think I am ready for a nice hot cup of tea. If you have a question for an upcoming show or you want to offer some advise or add to something we talked about be sure and leave a comment. Thanks for stopping by and til next time happy crafting!
Howdy friends! Last week I mentioned on Ask a Crafter that this would be my last AAC episode until September and we were flooded with great questions. I wanted to answer them all! Kathy came up with the great idea of doing a marathon of 20 minute videos and to release them each day until they are done. I loved it and Lorraine was game to join us hours after returning from the stamp show. So on my YouTube channel I will post an AAC video daily and here on my blog I will post one each Wednesday for the next 4 weeks. So depending on the type of person you are you can binge watch them or savor them:) Oh and because I had like 143 people ask, yes, I am still doing craft and painting videos throughout the summer:) Without further ado here is Ask a Crafter 40 part 1…oh wait one more thing, if you have a question you can post it and I will answer them as I have time, but if you need an answer ASAP post it on the Frugalcrafter Facebook page and a frugal friend will respond (um, that’s you guys helping each other out, yay!) Big thanks to those who have jumped in and helped AAC folks and Facebook friends with their questions, it was a big help when I was away this weekend and you have awesome ideas so please keep it up!
That was fun! Next week I’ll have part 2 but if you can’t wait hop over to my YouTube channel, part 2 is already up and there are 2 more coming after that. Thanks for stopping by and til next time happy crafting!
Stop the world I wanna get off! LOL! Hi Friends 😀 Whew, the end of the school year certainly sneaks up on you doesn’t it? Between running to baseball games, softball practice, finishing up projects and enjoying the small scraps of springlike weather we have been blessed with year I feel like I am a spinning top (with a screw loose!) I think I would forget my head if it was not attached today. Oh well, now I get to chill out and relax for the evening, and you can too, while enjoying this weeks episode of Ask a Crafter:
Reminder: Next week is our last episode until September so if you have questions get them in or you can ask over on the Facebook group anytime during the summer and someone will be there to help, we have a wonderful community of over 2000 crafters and the more the merrier I think! I will still have lots of video tutorials of course so don’t worry:) Sorry to keep this so short tonight , thanks for watching and for all the great questions (you can leave them in the comments for next weeks show.) Thanks for stopping by and til next time happy crafting!
Howdy friends! This is a milestone video in so many ways, first of all I managed to get Kathy and Lorraine both in the studio (see, they are not the same person) and it is my 600th YouTube video! I just realized that I have been making videos for just over 4 years but the last 400 videos were done over the last year! I owe it all to the “pause record” feature on my camera allowing me to edit on the fly…oh and I owe it to you for watching and cheering me on everyday. Thanks guys:) I was lucky this week to get Kathy and Lorraine to be on the show, if you have half as much fun watching as we did filming a good time will be had by all!
And if you are in the New England area I hope you will check out the Heirloom Stamp Show in W.Springfield Mass June 7-8th. We will be there on Saturday so be sure to say “Howdy” if you see us, I’m not involved with the show, just shopping, but it is a great time and some of my favorite stamp companies will be there too! If you have a question for next weeks show you can leave it in the comments. Also, be sure to check out the comment thread on YouTube, there is always great ideas shared from other crafters. Great work guys! Well, I think I better be off, I finally was suckerd in to doing the free trial of amazon prime (they have the first 3 seasons of Grimm on there and I needed quick shipping on a backpack for the boy) and my TV is not going to watch itself…er uh I mean I joined prime for the books, yeah…the books…Thanks for stopping by and til next time happy crafting!
Howdy friends, time again for another Ask a Crafter. Luckily Kathy is feeling better and she is back on the show but Lorainne is sick with a sore throat. I just can’t seem to get us all together, oh well, maybe next week I’ll be sick and they could do the show and I could sit back and watch, now that would be a kick, I tell you! We have a diverse bunch of great questions this week. From using old thread, to the difference between India Inks and liquid watercolors and craft vs artist watercolors and we will even discuss what animal products are in some of the art supplies we use. All that and more in this weeks AAC:
I had a great comment by hovawart16 on the YouTube watch page about animal products in art supplies that I neglected to mention:
“Did you mention silk? Silk thread, cochineal color, and shellac are all harvested cruelly. I admit that I enjoy using them, but lately I’ve been thinking about all these tiny creatures, so patiently creating beauty, and then, especially the silk worm, being boiled alive because we are in such a hurry to grab it all for ourselves.”
And this other great point from joannesminis:
“As someone that has lived on a farm all my life and has raised sheep in the past I do want to clear up something. If we did not shear the sheep for the wool they would literally die of heat stroke. It is simply a hair cut, the sheep are not really hurt in the process. I have personally sheared many a sheep in my day and believe me when I say I was in worse shape at the end of the day than any of them were,.”
But what I really appreciated was the acceptance and respect my viewers have for each others opinions. You folks are the best! If you have a question for next weeks show leave a comment. If you have a comment about the show or something to add to another’s question go ahead. I think some of the best advise comes from you guys answering each other’s questions. Sharing is caring people! Thanks for stopping by and til next time happy crafting!
Howdy friends! Another week, another Ask a Crafter! Lorraine is in the craft room with me today and I have to give her credit, she did not zone out when I mentioned the words “color theory”, then again after today’s episode I am the last person to scold someone about staying on track. Without further ado, here is this weeks AAC:
I just wanted to reiterate that if you asked a question last week and it was not answered please look for a reply to your comment either on the YouTube watch page or the blog post, whereever you left it. I do answer all of the questions, just not all on the show. If you have a question for next weeks show, such as “how do you give a chicken a bath?” just leave it in the comments! Thanks so much for watching and til next time happy crafting!
Wow, when I first started this series people asked me “what are you going to do when people run out of questions?” Ha! They don’t know my fabulous viewers! You are a clever lot and have a never-ending list of questions. I love a curious mind and I am really loving the kind generous community forming around these videos and blog posts. If you only watch the videos on my blog I urge you to watch it on YouTube because you can take part in the camaraderie in the comments thread. So many crafters have offered advise and ideas that I would never have thought of and I bet you will make a friend or two as Lorraine and I have! I wish I could have you all over for coffee but this will have to suffice (until I get an industrial coffeepot and a WAY bigger house!)
That WAS fun! If you have a question for me or Loraine please leave it here in the comment section or on the YouTube video and we will answer it next week. Oh, and I am trying to compile a “crafters gift wish list” so let me know what you are hoping to find under the tree this year and I will do a video on that, you can let friends and families watch it so you will get something good this Christmas! Of course they might question your sanity for watching videos by the likes of me LOL! Thanks for visiting and til next time happy crafting!
