glitterblog

It is super frugal too using supplies from out sponsor Papermart! Watch the video to see how.

Video!

Supplies:
Shipping tags
Glitter
Double sided tape or adhesive sheet
Stencil (mine was from Stencil Girl)
Washi Tape
Organza Ribbon
Tulle

Directions:
1. Cover tag with double-sided tape.
2. Coat stencil with embossing ink or glycerin.
3. Remove liner from tape and place stencil ink side down on the adhesive.
4. Carefully add glitter filling in the stencil holes with the colors you want.
5. Press glitter in to the stencil and shake off the excess then wipe off the excess with a baby wipe.
6. Remove the stencil and cover the rest of the adhesive with clear glitter. Tap off excess and burnish glitter in.
7. Hear with a heat tool (optional) to be sure the glitter is secure.
8. Finish by adding a washi tape border and ribbon/tulle.

Just make sure (and I can’t stress this enough) that you coat your stencil with glycerin or embossing ink before you place it on the adhesive. Think of all the stencils you have and the colors of glitter out there, the possibilities are endless! I think I need to use this technique on a scrapbook page. What project would YOU use it on? Let me know in the comments below and while you are there please share this post with your crafty friends on Pinterest, Facebook and Twitter! Puttin’ on the Glitz!

Hello friends! Today I am going to share some glitzy techniques for your cards and scrapbook pages. This video will show you how to incorporate a lot of hot trends quickly and easily in your cards, scrapbooks or art journals:

You can find the supplies I used from Papermart. I had a good time using these sparkly products, I have been using their awesome (and cheap, only 99 cents!) glitter for years and found that the Mod Podge held it in place beautifully. I wanted to use small mirrors on my scrapbook page but I was worried that they would cut the page protector, I don’t have that worry now that I made them from candy foil and cardstock! The bokah look stenciling and misting was fun and easy too! If you want to learn how to make the daubers and spray mists I used today you can check out my video here. Doilies, what can I say, I’ve used them a lot lately (and I have another doily project this week!) so if you buy some gold doilies you might want to grab a box of white ones too, they are  a steal of a deal and so fun! The shipping tagsare also a steal if you don’t have them yet and now you know how to print on them! Well, I know you want to rush into your craft space and try out these techniques so I won’t keep you, thanks for stopping by and til next time happy crafting!

Instant Jewelry: What to do with un-drilled or broken chip beads

Happy Sunday folks. A usual I was up earlier than everyone else in my family today and I pondered a trip down to my studio for some early morning crafting but then I remembered the terrible state I left it in yesterday. My head has been crammed with ideas to try and all those ideas are spewed around every available surface down stairs, there are even a couple of up-ended crates with precarious piles of jewelry and beads (it has been a miracle that I haven’t knocked them over yet!)  I’d share a pic but I am too ashamed LOL! but if my mess is still there on Wednesday I will post a pic, it’s sad but I have to give my self ultimatums to clean.  😀 Speaking of workdesk Wednesday you still have time to sign up for my stamp giveaway on last Wednesday’s post, I will choose a winner this Wednesday morning so be sure to leave a comment on that post for a chance to win stamps! OK, enough rambling, let’s get the project:

DCF 1.0

I call it “instant art” because I made it in about 15 seconds! I was working on my tree of life pendants and I came across a semi-precious chip bead mix I bought a few months ago, I thought the random stones would be great for the pendants but you can imaging the surprise when I found out the beads were un-drilled, as in no holes to string them with! well, I only paid 50 cents for the bag of chips so I decided to laugh at my fate and make lemonade so to speak and I grabbed a ring blank with a lip (50 cents at bead shop) filled it with Aleen’s Jewelry & Metal Glue and dropped in a bunch of bead chips. I pressed them in well to ensure a bond and set it upright to fully dry. I think it looks cool and if I am ever in a bar fight these bead shards will be more effective than brass knuckles LOL! Great sparkle too! I have even been saving broken chip beads for this! Well, that’s it for today. An remember if a craft is not going the way you expect make lemonade or a bar-fight ring! Thanks for stopping by and til next time happy crafting!
