Back from the Stamp Show!

Good evening friends! I had a great weekend in Springfield MA at the Heirloom Rubber Stamp Show. It was so cool to meet some of you there too, there is nothing like the feeling you get when someone runs up to you waving “hi Lindsay!”  What a friendly bunch we stampers are! I was so busy taking everything in that I did not take any pictures, luckily my friend Tracey did and said I could share them. I have a video of what I got at the shop uploading on YouTube as we speak, you can find it on my YouTube channel later this evening, otherwise I’ll blog it tomorrow:) Getting to the show is a bit of an undertaking since we live 5 hours away, we all rode down together, it was great company! We decided to get a little pre shopping in at Micheal’s since we do not have one near where we live and then off to Chilis for dinner:

Did you know that calories don’t count when you are on vacation? you’re welcome.

Then we went back tot he hotel where they let us stamp in the breakfast room:

And I proceeded to make the lamest ATC ever for the ATC contest at the show, needless to say I was not the winner LOL. The theme is Apronology. Kathy came up with a cool name for the ATC “Canned in the Kitchen” because it is an apron on a canning jar…I know, more like lameology right?

But we had fun! Tracey brought her new Koi watercolors and she got a steal of a deal on the cute pink Instax camera at Micheal’s with a coupon. I have never seen those before but that take cute Polaroid like pictures.

The next day we went to the show (more about that on this weeks Ask a Crafter) and shopped till we dropped! I was so tired! We decided to cap it of with dinner at Chili’s again and another stroll around Micheal’s (we had more coupons after all!) and I am telling you I was yawing so bad I could have leaned up against a rack of yarn and fallen asleep! We went back to the hotel and stamped until after midnight! I guess I found my second wind LOL! We showed off the stuff we bought and oohhhed and ahhaed and passed things around (like a bridal shower but with cool stamping stuff!) and finally we dug in! I got a pack of the new Spectrum Noir markers in a colors I did not have to try and I colored this butterfly:

DCF 1.0

I was happy with them. I used them to color the gems on the bottom of the card too.  I also manged to use new patterned paper and two new stamp sets, fun! We all tried out a few of our new goodies but mostly we socialized 🙂 I will share my Heirloom haul video tomorrow but if you get really excited to see it you can find it on my YouTube channel later tonight. Well, I am barely able to keep my eyes open so I am going to say goodnight and happy crafting!

I have tickets to giveaway & a coupon code! Life is good!

Hi friends! I am absolutely giddy, the folks at Heirloom Productions have given me some tickets to give away for the Heirloom Productions Rubber Stamp show in W. Springfield Massachusetts! I want to make sure the tickets go to folks who want them and live close enough to attend so if you want to win just leave a comment saying if I win tickets I will go! Also, because I am nosy, tell me what you want to see most at the show, a vendor, demos, your favorite crafter perhaps…just kidding! 😀 If you are not sure what to expect check out the Heirloom Productions website where they have a full list of vendors and classes that will be at the show. I will pick winners Sunday and post the winners names on my blog. You will receive your tickets via email. One of my favorite vendors that will be at the show is Lost Coast Designs, I bought my first stamps from them 3 years ago and have been a die hard fan ever since. Because I know everyone cannot get to the show I have a coupon to share with you if you buy more than 6 items, you get 20% off and free shipping! The prices at Lost Coast Designs are very reasonable so that is a really good deal! Use this code when shopping: RSCVC and don’t forget to tell them Lindsay sent you!

***how to use the coupon code: Use the Shopping Cart as usual and put “RSCVC” in the comments area to get your special pricing. If you use a credit card, she will calculate the discount before running your card; if you use PayPal, she will refund the discount back to your account.

Speaking of Lost Coast Designs, here is a fun card I made today with their Wizard of Oz stamps, watch the tutorial to see how!

The card was literally made from scraps near my paper cutter, don’t you love it when projects work out that way. I had just enough poppy paper left over from yesterdays project to use on this card. I only own 4 sets of label dies but they get quite a work out, I love cutting a label layer out of the center of a piece of card stock that is hidden because I can stretch that perfect color paper scrap and save weight on the card for mailing. It is two ways to save money! How about mixing and matching your markers? I recommend newbies to try out different brands in different colors so you can see what markers you prefer, they all work well together as long as they are the same type (alcohol or water-based) and they blend well together too. Why commit to one brand of markers when you are not sure it is the best for you? I love scrap cards, I always feel so good making something with leftovers, it’s like a free project, don’t you think? Thanks for stopping by and til next time happy crafting!

I’m Back!!!

howdy folks! I got back from the Heirloom stamp show last night and oh my goodness, what a blast! Look who I met:

Can you freaking belive it? It’s THE Judi from Judikins! She was the sweetest, nicest person and she did non-stop demos all day. I could have stayed at her booth all day but I was afraid she would think i was stalking her LOL 😀 Also I had that stupid grin plastered over my face all day..I probably looked like a crazy person…or first time stamp show attendee 🙂

I watched many demos and learned some new techniques. A bunch of us went together and stayed in a hotel so it was like one great big rubber stamping slumber party! I can’t wait til next year (and after seeing all of the goodies I would have liked to buy I should save up untill next year too!) Don’t worry, my wallet is a bit lighter after the show but I did not go overboard (which would have been so easy to do!) I marked off my favorite vendors on the paper they gave me when I cam e in and if I made a purchase I wrote it in the margin so I could keep a running tally throughout the show so I did not end up going over my budget and I am really happy with the few things I bought and you can bet I will be sharing my purchases with you this week!

I have to give props to my hubby who had the kids on his own while I was gone, he did a great job, the kids had a ball and the house was clean when I came home! And he didn’t even ask me how much I spent at the show! Am I a lucky lady or what? Thanks for stopping by and til next time happy crafting!
