So, I’ve been at it again, valentines, yep I love um! I was playing with the Kewpie heart from yesterdays freebie and came up with this:

Then I took the leftover shimmer sprayed doilies, a pin and some buttons and came up with this:

I think they are snazzy and they are so easy to make. Here’s how:
Cut two 3" hearts out of red cardstock. I used the heart on Plantin Schoolbook cart (Cricut)Stack the hearts and staple them on each side as shown.Add eyelets to the sides (or just staple it), decorate it and insert a lollipop. Easy as pie!
I took the liberty to make a sheet of just the Kewpies so you can make bunch of these cuties. I left room around them so you can trim them with deco-edge scissors if you like. You can get my Kewpie heart freebie sheet here.
I see all of those pretty gift bags in the paper crafting magazines and I always think to myself, WOW, pretty but it would break my heart to see it thrown away after the gift was opened. I also think that these women must have way too much time on their hands to decorate a gift-bag when you can go and buy a lovely one at the dollar store, I’d never bother to do that! Never say never folks! I bought some stamps the other day (big surprise) and it came in a plain little kraft bag with handles, too nice to toss in the recycling but it had printing on the front that I wasn’t in love with so I used some of the Cosmo Cricket paper that I got in my DT package from the Rubber Cafe last month, a doily that I cut up and sprayed with my homemade shimmer spray, my homemade dewdrops, die cuts and my new Rubber Cafe stamps to create this recycled gift bag:

All of the items I used were just laying around on my craft table leftover from other projects with the exception of the vintage clip art. If you would like to download a sheet of vintage clip art including the card used on my bag click here. The heart stamp used on this project fits in the space on the card perfectly. I sprayed the flourish (Accent Essentials Cartridge: Cricut) with gold and red shimmer spray, dried it with a heat tool then stamped the Love Words stamp on top.

The stitching is fake! I used a piercing bee (EK Success)and a ruler to make the holes (place the paper on a foam pad or scrap of corrugated cardboard before piercing) then I lined up the strait edge next to the holes and drew along the line with a fine tip marker. If you learn nothing else from my blog learn that!
Faux Stitiching adds detail to the projectGlitter glue accents the stamped heart.
Today we get a new commander in chief in the States. Every time we change presidents we talk about how it is a history making day and how this point in history is more important than times before but today the reporters and pundits can say and mean these words. Regardless on who you voted for you have a new president who will try and make our country better.

Here’s to a safe prosperous 4 years! If you want to grab the files to cut this card with the cricut using SCAL or Design Studio they are on this post. The vintage clip are is from vintage Image Craft and you can snag it for free here, it was used on their block project, which is also lovely, snag that and other great freebies here.
My husband and I were watching Meet The Press a few weeks ago while we were still undecided and my 6-year-old asked “Why do you vote?” As usual I thought about how to explain this to him so he will understand but before I could my husband said “So we can pick who’s in charge.” Yes it is as simple as that. Go vote so you can pick who will be in charge! Here is a card I made to honor this wonderful tradition:
I got an email from the creator of a great website any crafter who likes vintage stuff should visit. It’s called Vintage Image Craft and that is where I got the vintage image I used on the card…for free I might add! Click on crafts and you will find lots of beautiful projects all with free vintage images to download. I love the vintage Christmas Blocks project made from milk cartons, that project is where I found the above image. I think I will try to make the blocks on my cricut since I no longer have soy-milk boxes around now that I make my own!
Speaking of my Cricut, how about a couple of freebies:
I created the star card in Sure Cuts a Lot, then I remembered that I could make this with the trial version of DS and the George cart too so here are both versions.
