My free Cricut cartridges came today!!!

Minutes ago the fed-ex guy dropped off my cricut rebate cartridges that I sent for back in early January. I got My Community and Printing 101, With 3 kids in school I think they will come in quite handy! Since I got something free today I think I should give out a freebie too, pay it forward KWIM? I made this card inspired by this weeks sketch at 2 sketches 4 you and thought you might like the shaped card file so you can make one too if you have a cricut and Sure cuts a lot software:

stamps: Stampin Up!, Paper: MME, cupcake tag: Cricut

Download the fancy bracket plate SVG here. Download the SCUT file with the bracket plate sizes, welded and ready to cut here. You can use the SVG to shape paper or make journal spots, very versatile, enjoy!

I borrowed my Moms Doodlecharms Cartridge and used it to cut the cupcake tag then backed it with pattern paper but you could do the same thing if you have a circle and cupcake punch.

Thanks for stopping by and until next time happy crafting!

Rocket Card SVG Freebie!

Someone on the SCAL Yahoo group was looking for a rocket file to cut with her cricut and I wanted to make a rocket card to celebrate Battlestar Galactica season 4 coming out on DVD and that’s how this project came to be:

outforpubfrugal

I drew the rocket in Inkscape (Thanks Dan for the video tutorial) and saved it as an SVG then in Sure Cuts A lot I imported the file, re-sized it and copy and pasted it then flipped the copy and welded it together at the wing. I used the font “gear box” for the cog window, and “Flamez” for the, well,  flames. Too much information? Don’t worry, I’ve included my scut file too but you need to download the SVG file for the scut to work. I made the scut file with the Expression so you get 2 cards on the mat. Here are the files:

Download the SVG version here

Download the scut version here (you need the svg to use this!)

Here is a printable template:-)

I punched out the holes with my crop a dial and cut a red single rocket and layered it behind. The alien stamps are by Technique Tuesday and the “happy birthday” is from Stampin up. Cardstock is DCWV. I used my faux copictechnique and Bic Mark its to color the alien and robot. Just start with the lightest colors first and work on one section at a time like color the alien head light green, then add darker shadows around the edges then blend them together again with the light. I used cheap smooth Georgia Pacific Cardstock bought by the ream at Sams Club. Works great!

BTW if you make the little paper figures you may want to lamenate them with clear packing tape so they can hold up to being played with!

Thanks for stopping by, enjoy the file and happy crafting!

3-D Star template and SVG Freebie!

These are so fun to make. I cut a bunch out than assembled them while I watched Greys Anatomy last week. It’s nice to have an easy project while you are watching TV (I feel like less of a slug anyway!)

To make them cut out the template (see download links below) 5 or more times then fold as shown.

Fold each peice like this

Fold each peice like this

Glue the flaps behind the next piece of paper until you have attached them all then glue the last flap to the first piece. Circle-punch patterned paper (I used free vintage images from Vintage image craft) and hot glue them to the center of the ornament. The hot glue will make the star much more rigid and substantial feeling. Hot glue a ribbon for hanging.

Download the print and cut version here. It is sized for several sizes. You need 5 of one size to make a star.

Download the SVG Version here. You can use this file to make stars any size you want using your Cricut and Sure Cuts a lot software. After you re size the first template piece copy and paste it to make sure all are the same size. Be sure to download this as well as the scut file (Cricut users)

Download the SCUT version here. You need the SVG above downloaded to cut it in SCAL, This file will give you 7 pieces to make a 6″ star.

Use them as decoration or attach them to a gift, so elegant and easy too! Until next time happy crafting!

Lindsay
