Scallop card and tag freebie!

I love it when I make something that is cute and easy. These cards only take minutes to make and what makes it super easy is that I can cut the cards and tags with my Cricut using Sure cuts a lot software, take a look:

I used this weeks sketch over at 2sketches4you (Yay, I got it done on a Monday woo-hoo!) and the Bon Appetit stamp set from The Rubber Cafe. I colored the image on the front of the card with water-based brush markers (Tombow, Marvy and Whispers) then I breathed on the stamp to re-moisten the ink and stamped. This is a great way to make a multi-colored image with a rubber stamp. A word of caution: Don’t use solvent based markers (Copic, Sharpie, Bic Mark its) to color the rubber, they dry too quick and may stain or damage your stamp, also this technique does not work well with most clear stamps, the marker ink wants to bead up. I really like The Rubber Cafe stamps because they are deeply etched and they stamp perfectly every time so you don’t end up wasting a lot of cardstock trying to get a good impression.

I wasย  inspired to make this svg that you can cut with your cricut if you have SCAL software after seeing a wonderful tutorial at Splitcoast Stampers. I would use their tutorial if you do not have a cricut and simply make a tag with scallop scissors. I cut my cards outย  of K&Co double-sided paper, I love how you can see both sides of the lovely paper!

Downlad the SCallop tri-fold card SVG here.

Stamps: The Paper Co., Paper: DCWV, Around the block, Chatterbox, tool: Cricut and Scal Software

This envelope can be re-sized however you like.ย  To re-size itย  stretch it out to the size you need, see below. After you resize it turn it 45 degrees to make best use out of your scrapbook paper.

how to resize the envelope, the light blue area is the size it will be.
how to resize the envelope, the light blue area is the size it will be.

If you want a square envelope jut check the “keep proportion box and re-size as needed.ย  To get the liner to fit the envelope: Re-size the envelope and cut it, make sure it is the size you want. Measure the with of the folded envelope and subtract 1/4″ (or 1/2″ if you want more space around the liner to show), cut the liner at that width from scrap paper. Slip in in the envelop and see how it looks, if you are making a square envelope it should be perfect but if you are making a rectangle envelop you will need to shorten the liner from the bottom, just drag up the bottom arrow in scal to squash the liner a bit and cut it again. It should be perfect in a try or two ;). You can copy and paste the liner so you can get 4 to a page (let the strait end fall of the mat if you need to because the liner can be a bit shorter and still look the same. Save this file, if you are using scal2 you can save the envelop and line in one file, each on its own page, you can title it “fancyenvelope4x6” so you won’t have to measure it again. If using old scal just save both files separately ๐Ÿ˜‰

Download the SVG envelope file here.

Download the SVG envelope liner here.

Download a printable envelope and liner here (overlapped on one file).

Download .png files (for use as a clipping mask with digital scrapbook paper), here is the envelope, here is the liner (be sure to download both files.)

Yes it’s that day of the week again where you can add to your digital stamp collection with a free stamp from Lindsay’s Stamp Stuff, but wait, there’s a catch you need to find it ๐Ÿ™‚ it is on one of the design team members’ blogs. Here is the stamp you get for free this week, Primitive house:

I printed the house on White cardstock and quickly colored it with my Prismacolor pencils and blended it with a dried-up blending pen filled with goo-gone {gotta love recycling!} Then I printed my Doodle Daisy stamp really tiny and colored it, punched it out and mounted it on a heart shaped clip I designed:

Each clip is on it’s own layer but on a diffrent spot on the mat so you can cut them all from one peice of paper and it is baby bug compatible ๐Ÿ˜‰ You can cut this with the free trial of Design Studio if you have the baby (6″x12″) cricut.

For a svg version that you can cut with SCAL software click here. All of the clips are in one file, re-size as desired.

For a printable version click on the image above and right click to save the image. You can print this directly on the back of the cardstock or patterned paper then cut out the inside of the clip with a craft knife then cut around the clip with the scissors.

Printable Plant Pic Freebie! (with cutting files for DS and SCAL users too!)

Mother’s day again! This year is extra special because my sister is pregnant for the first time! All the local nurseries are open with lots of lovely plants and each year we pick some up for our mothers and the kids and hubby get me some too (with the stipulation that they put the plants in the ground, otherwise it just too cruel really, leaving a plant solely in my care, I do believe that plants commit suicide when they realize that that I am their caregiver…I’m not kidding.) How about a little freebie to help you pretty-up that plant for mom? I made these plant pics to share with you today:

Stamps: Inque Boutique, Stampin Up, Paint: M. Graham, Ink: Colorbox, SU!
Stamps: Inque Boutique, Stampin Up, Paint: M. Graham, Ink: Colorbox, SU!

I cut the pics larger out of balck and smaller out of cream then I inked the edges of the black pics with green Mica Magic ink. I painted my runner stamps with my M Graham watercolors (not to juicy, just add enough to the dried paint in the palette to get the paint to release) and to soften the stark cream I added green chalk with a pom-pom afterthe paint dried. I glued the layers together, stamped the butterfly and leaves, trimed them and added them on with foam tape and for sparkle I added stickles to the wings and a homemade dew drop to the leaf. Here is a close up:

I love to stamp with watercolor paint!

You can snag a printable version here with 6 plant pics on on sheet of 8 1/2″x11″ cardstock.

Here is a version to use with Cricut Design Studio and the George Cartridge, and yes, it is baby bug compatible ๐Ÿ™‚

Here is an SVG version to use if you have a cricut and SCAL software.

Speaking of SCAL (Sure Cuts a Lot) software it is on sale 10% off thought mothers day with the coupon code: 7149588, I had thought that it was on sale until the 13th but there was a misprint in the email I received so if you are on the fence try and decide before then! SCAL allows you to cut fonts from your computer and SVG files on your cricut with no more cartridges to buy!ย  Ifย  your mom or wife (go ahead girls, email this post to your husbands;) has a cricut and doesn’t have scal it would be an awesome mom’s day gift (unless your mom is like mine and refuses to use a computer ๐Ÿ˜‰

Also, more coolness, on Monday the Design Team at Creative Cuts and More are having a blog hop with some yummy blog candy hidden along the way, there will be wonderful designs to see and great ideas to get so please check back on Monday!

Have a wonderful Mother’s Day everyone, if you are lucky enough to have a mother please show her how much you care. Thanks for stopping by and til next time happy crafting!
