My Fall Porch Display and Centerpiece DIY!

Hi friends! Last weekend I shared my Dollar Tree haul complete with items I bought to decorate my front porch. I also bought some hay bales, mum, cornstalks and pumpkins to complete the look.

I filmed a porch tour and DIY for Home and Garden for Mere Mortals, it was a lot of fun, here’s the video!

I really had fun decorating the porch this year, I usually reserve the major decorating for right before Halloween but I am glad that I started early so I can enjoy this all season. Here are some photos if you want a closer look at anything.

Full disclosure on the railing, the leaves are starting to dry out and turn brown. I think next time more Dollar Tree leaf garlands or plain berries. It’s OK, it will be nice and “Addams Family” looking for Halloween. It will match the dust and cobwebs inside LOL!

I hope you liked my little porch. Do you have your fall decorations up yet? What is your favorite fall decorating tip? Thanks for stopping by and til next time happy crafting!

My Mantel Decoration for Fall {It’s a Good Thing!}

Hi friends! I have to say I about fell out of my chair when Martha Stewart Crafts and Michaels Arts and Craft stores asked me to make a project with Martha Stewart Crafts Vintage Décor Paint! Of course I said yes! The paint has a lovely matte finish and covers beautifully and it comes in 22 colors and I honestly do not think you could pick a bad color combo.

Since am cheap and did not want to buy any new decorations I painted some old junk I had lying around and made some 3-D “Barn Stars” from paper. Watch the video to see how I painted everything, made the stars and put it all together.

OK, here is my moment of honesty…I do not like waxing furniture. I know it is beautiful and give it a unique vintage luster but it takes time and elbow grease and I usually just settle for a matte sealer rather than go to the trouble of waxing. It does not look exactly like the waxed vintage furniture finish but it is good enough for this gal! I’m just putting that out there for the lazy crafters among us LOL! I want to thank Martha Stewart Crafts for sponsoring this video and encourage you to check out the new Vintage Décor Paint available at a Michaels store near you. Thanks for stopping by and til next time happy crafting!

Fall or Halloween Home Decor Craft for Kids {or you!}

Hi Friends! Today I am going to show you how to make a cute pumpkin themed wall hanging using supplies from our sponsor Papermart:

pumpkin2

There are  a lot of techniques in this video but you can totally make this project with your kids. I recommend using thick ‘n tacky glue if the kids are helping out, otherwise the hot glue gun is handy. You can keep this plaque strictly fall themed or you can add a face to the pumpkin and some spiders and cobwebs and make it for Halloween like I did in this video:

Supplies:

  • Crepe paper in orange and green
  • Floral wire
  • Jute cord
  • green and black in pads
  • chalk and sponges/cotton balls
  • tacky glue or hot glue
  • Gold paint OR embossing ink and gold embossing powder
  • scissors, wire cutters, pencil, protractor, black paper scraps, cardboard or mat board scraps, cardstock or construction paper
  • You can find my spray ink tutorial here

Simply follow the instructions in the video for making the honeycomb pumpkin and decorating the wall plaque! Did you know I post many videos that never make it to my blog? Click here to be notified whenever I post new video and follow along in the fun! I hope this project inspires you to craft with your kids or grand kids and for yourself! Thanks so much for stopping by today and til next time happy crafting!
