…And this time I mean it!

Hello Friends! Whew, what an odd day, firstly it was nearly 70 degrees, I woke up at 5:30am and turned on the news and the weather man said it would be 68 today! Well I hopped out of bed, got the coffee started and jumped in the shower because there was no way I was going to miss a second of a warm spring day! I decided I wanted to paint something springy so I did a rose in watercolor, and shot a tutorial of course. But, something funny happened to my tutorial during its journey through cyberspace, it changed from a 17 minute drawing and painting tutorial to a 48 minute jerky video with no audio, it was the weirdest thing. I have to say it was probably much more relaxing to watch me paint without the yammering on though. I asked a few people to watch it to see if it was just me but alas no, the problem was widespread, unfortunately it was already live when I noticed this so I made the video private in hopes that the video would fix itself (it’s the same philosophy I have when my car acts funny, leave it be and hope it works itself out LOL!) but it was clear that the team of highly trained monkeys that keep my YouTube channel running were unable to fix this so I rechecked my video (fine on my end) and uploaded it again. So here you go, let’s paint a rose and this time I mean it! 😀

Also today I worked on illustrating some flowers from past videos. I had a couple of viewers ask for digital stamps of the flowers that I have demonstrated in my free painting tutorials and I thought it was a great idea so here is my new Spring Flowers digital stamp set:

Currently I only have this up at MyGrafico. I have been having some trouble with my Shophandmade shop (me, technical difficulties? no way.) and my team of highly trained monkeys are busy maintaining my YouTube channel currently so what are you gonna do right? I hope you enjoyed today’s tutorial despite having to wait for it. Thanks for stopping by and til next time happy crafting!

DIY coasters!

Have you ever had a great idea and then realized a flaw in your plan when it was too late to do anything about it?  I planned to have a tutorial on photocopy transfers today, I went to the library yesterday and had the Vintage Halloween Label stamps I wanted to transfer onto tile coasters photocopied only to realize that I forgot to mirror image my designs before they copied them…and of course I realize this AFTER the library closed 😛  (I would have had backwards words if I did that so with no time to come up with a new project I decided to revive the art of Decoupage and venture onward with this project:

Craft this set in no time with the Vintage Halloween Labels set from Lindsay's stamp Stuff!

Here is how to decoupage your very own coasters:

  1. Print out your designs on a LAZER printer or print them out on an ink jet printer and have them photocopied. The toner in lazer printers and photocopy machines won’t bleed when you paint over it with mod-podge.
  2. Color your images with ALCOHOL based markers such as Bic Markits, Copic, Sharpie, Promarker or Prismacolor. Avoid using a xylene based marker like Chartpack, it will lift the toner.
  3. Closely trim around your designs.
  4. Use a brush to paint a layer of decoupage medium such as Mod-podge or white glue (not the washable kind) on a ceramic tile then place your colored cut out image on top and paint another coat of decoupage medium over it.
  5. Let dry. If you like you can add additional coats of Mod-Podge for added durability.
  6. Put felt, cork or foam pads on the bottom of the tile to protect your furniture.
  7. Enjoy knowing you have the coolest coasters on the block!

This project qualifies for the following challenges: Bunny Zoe’s & Creatilicious (vintage), Cards For Men (decoupage), Craft Your Passion (anything goes) and  Lil Red Wagon (altered item)

Now how about a freebie? Here is add-on to the Vintage Halloween Labels set, Spider Cider anyone?

Sew Pretty and a Freebie!

Hello folks, it is Thursday again and time to find out what has been happening in the Lindsay’s Stamp Stuff shop.  I decided to use my Sewing Stuff stamp and this weeks sketch from 2sketches4you and the challenge to use lace over at Caardvarks to make this card:

In addition to the real lace I used a Cornelli lace wheel stamp for a touch of homespun charm:)

I am very happy how the card turned out. I cut one of Penny Duncan’s “Nesties” for the sentiment using my Cricut and SCAL software (save 10% on SCAL with coupon code: 8774959) then I used a tradional rubber stamp (SU) for the verse. I poked holes around the edges and drew on my “stitches” with a pen 😉

I have been drawing up a storm this week and I have a few new sets out, on of which cooranates with the Sewing Stuff set, it is called Sew Pretty.

Here are two more new sets in the shop, Puddle fun and Teariffic:

and now for the freebie, a pretty frame made of ribbon, click on the image to download 🙂

Patriotic Decor (and another hidden freebie)

Want a quick little something to spruce up your mantle before the 4th of July? Here is a set that is so quick to make using the Patriotic Card Kit and Patriotic Quilt Stamp from Lindsay’s Stamp Stuff:

Stamps and papers: Lindsay's Stamp Stuff, Clipboard, box: AC Moore, Tin: Dollar Tree, Ribbbon: Target

Here are some close up shots:

Here is a close up of the box, I painted it buttery yellow before embellishing

I die cut the flowers with my Ellison Daisy die from red, white and blue cardstock and curled the petals before adhereing with hot glue.

The cool thing about the clipboard is that the papers and stamped element is just clipped, not glued on so you can redo it for each holiday!

The cool thing about the clipboard is that the papers and stamped element are just clipped, not glued on so you can redo it for each holiday!

This is quick and cheap to make, the stamp is $1 and the card kit is $2 but remember they are digital so you can print them as many times as you want! The clipboard and round box were from AC Moore for $1 each and the tin container with a candle was from the dollar tree. A decor piece for $6, not bad huh?

I used my Bic Mark-It markers to color the stamped image (Adobe Orange, Summer Melon, Rambunctious Red, Prairie Berry, Oceanview Blue, Misty Blue, Deep Sea Blue and Midnight Navy). I like to color a section with a lighter shade then outline it in a slightly darker shade so it will blend plus it is quick! I also used a Prismacolor marker {Brick White) for the white stripes and outlined it in Tiki Hut Tan. All the Bic Mark its can be found in the 36 pack, I get mine at Sam’s Club for $13 (yep, I’m a frugal crafter!) BTW I have no affiliation with the Bic company 😉

Before we check out the offerings of my fabulous designers I just wanted to tell you that I will be away from my computer from Sunday the 28th to Tuesday the 30th so if you need stamps ASAP please order them by Saturday. Orders places Sunday-Tuesday will be emailed on Wednesday the 1st.

Now on to the designers! Remember one of our “Rockin” DT members has a stamp to give away today, just check out these crafty blogs to find it:
