Hooray for Crochet!

I love all of the pretty dainty crocheted flowers popping up on cards and scrapbook pages everywhere.  tried to make some a while back but they were ANYTHING but dainty, then I found an easy tutorial over at Nicole Heady’s blog and it was so easy. I used embroidery floss and crochet cotton thread to make the flowers her with a #0 hook but it was really weird to get used to the thread so I made a few in sugar & cream cotton yarn first to get the hang of it then tried it with the thread, here is how they came out.

The flowers on this card are not from Nicole’s pattern but I used the same stitches, once you get the hang of it you can make up your own flowers. The little 4 petal flower was made with the crochet cotton then I sprayed it with my trusty homemade shimmer spray, I also sprayed the scroll die cuts to tone down the black. All the die cuts are from Creative cuts and More. They are looking for a few new guest designers so if you are interested check out the call here, you have until July 6th to apply!

I scanned a few of the flowers I made, then removed the background and saved them as a png file (transparent background) so digital scrappers can add the soft homespun look to their pages too 🙂 They are in one file so use the selection tool to pick the one you want!

You can download my crocheted flower elements for digital scrapbookers here.

If you want to find more patterns and awesome examples check out this thread over at splitcoast stampers.

There are also some cool flower patterns at Lion brand yarn.

Have fun making your own little crocheted flowers, if you find a cool pattern leave a link in the comments section. Beware these are very addicting but you can make use of little scraps of time my making these while you watch TV or riding in the car or waiting for the kids. It’s fun! Thanks for stopping by and til next time happy crafting!

I used the leftover pieces of cardstock that came with a color-block template that I ordered from creative cuts and more to make these bitty cards and my cheapo pockets I got from the dollar tree in the teacher supply section. I also used stamps from the Rubber Cafe. Easy, Quick, fun. Now that is my kind of craft! Thanks for stopping by, Till next time happy crafting!

Freebie for the kids (and kids at heart:)

Happy Sunday everyone, sorry I didn’t have time to post over the past 2 days, my kids got out of school for the summer on Friday and yesterday I spent a lovely afternoon with my high school classmates for our 15th class reunion. What fun! I was nice to see (despite my classes reputation for being slackers and partiers) that we all turned out OK!

Today I made a little card kit. I was drawing with my children this morning and I sketched a couple “party animals” and I thought hmmm, that would be cute on a kids card, then I thought, hmmm why not make a card that a kid could color:

Party Animal Card Kit Freebie: Lindsays Stamp Stuff
Party Animal Card Kit Freebie: Lindsays Stamp Stuff

Just print and cut the sheet in half and you have two cards already embellished, let junior color in the animals and you’re done! There is even a “handmade by” on the back so your little one can proudly write their name when they are finished. Now you will never be caught short handed when a child’s birthday rolls around!

Download the ready to color card kit here.

If you just want the stamps you can download the elephant digital stamp here and the party chicken digital stamp here. *Note, I literally drew these on a scrap of paper with a ball point pen this morning, these are nothing fancy but if you can use them enjoy 😉

While I have your ear I woulds also like to ask for your help. My Friend Terry over at Creative Cuts and More has a customer with a sick child. She has a brain tumor that is inoperable but there is hope with chemotherapy. They are selling handmade cards to help with the financial strains on the family. If you have any extra handmade cards that you could send to her shop for them to sell, all money will go the the family to help with hospital bills I would appreciate it. You can mail any handmade cards to:

Thank you so much! Also Creative cuts and more is looking for some guest designers. If you can rock a die cut you should apply and I have to say that Terry is a dream to work for! Interested? Click here for details.

That’s all for today, thanks for stopping by, enjoy the freebies and till next time happy crafting!
