The text paper in the background is from the Grunge News Collage Sheets from Nicecrane Designs. The card is 4 1/4″ square. I adjusted the Bracket envelope from my Envelope Bonanza template to fit this card and cut it with my Cricut and SCAL software, easy peasy! BYW the daffodil is colored with Prismacolors and blended with a pointy q-tip and googone 🙂
Notice the die cut photo corners and mesh behind the collage sheet? Well I hit the most awesome sale Friday at BigLots, I was shopping with DT gal Erin and we found tons of CB embossing folders and dies for $2 a pop! Most had both does and folders or a couple dies in a pack, score!
Check out my crafty loot!
Not that I needed any more dies but for $2 I just couldn’t resist 🙂
That’s all for today, I’m off to see MIL and my Mom today, happy mother’s day and till next time happy crafting!
Happy Saturday! Wow what a busy week, but fun too. I had a lot of time to scrapbook and craft this week (my studio is a mess!) and I made this cute new baby card.
The vintage photo is from a memories of a lifetime CD-ROM (Sandra Evertson-Baby) and the hat was one of the freebies I gave away during the virtual crop. the banner is from the Pretty Princess set and colored it with copics then stamped “Oh happy day” over it (crafty secrets) with brown ink. the post mark stamp is from the only CTMH set I own (and love!) Other than that I used bits and scraps lying about, that is what I love about shabby chic, anything goes…now, if only someone I know would have a baby girl!
Thanks for stopping by and til next time happy crafting!
This is the first week of summer vacation. Imagine my surprise that I had a chance to finish a card using the sketch over at 2 sketches 4 You today. I had given my kids a stack of magazines, glue sticks, scissors, some old scrapbook paper and glitter and they collaged happily long enough for me to make this:
I must say I wasn’t in love with the sketch because I was a bit to symmetrical and I am an asymmetrical kind of girl…you could call me off-balanced, I guess 🙂 but you know what? This is what a challenge should be about, to push you to create something that you ordinarily wouldn’t.
I used many stamps on this project: The Flag Bunting is one of my Lindsay’s Stamp Stuff Designs, the star stamp is a jumbo wheel from Stampin Up, The “4” is from Crafty Secrets and the ribbon stamp is from Hero Arts.
Well that is all for today, I hear a soccer game breaking out in the hallway and I feel that parental supervision may be required (hey, at least the kids are playing together LOL) thanks for stopping by and til next time happy crafting!
Not that I want to toot my own horn (OK I’m Tootin’ here!) I just really love this card and I have waited months to be able to share it with you, see it was in the May issue of Vamp Stamp News as part of their stamp masking challenge and they want to keep their stamp art as fresh as possible for their readers so I waited til now to show you (cuz the June issue is now available and I think it’s OK 😉
I had a ball making this card and can you blame me the stamp is darling, it is by Crafty Secrets. First you stamp the girl/swing on a die cut shape then again on a scrap and cut the scrap out, place the scrap over the girl, ink up a brayer with a blue Kaliadacolor ink pad and roll right on over, then stamp a larger script stamp in black on that. Remove the mask and color with pencils. It’s really quite easy!
If you have never had the pleasure of reading VSN check them out, there is a list of stores that carry it here and it is only $4 an issue! If you subscribe it is less and it is packed with hard core stamping info. You can still order the May issue from the website if you want to learn more about masking, in the June issue it is all about die cutters (and yes, I have a card in there too but you will have to get the magazine to see it 😉 It is a good investment if you are considering a die cutter purchase in the future. BTW I have no affiliation with VSN except being lucky enough to be published in there from time to time, it’s just a good magazine I think you should check out.
Have a great weekend, I hope the sun comes out after a week of rain, if not we will just have to stay inside and craft 😉 Till next time Happy Crafting!
Happy Monday folks! Nothing softens the blow of a Monday like a freebie. There was a challenge over at Oriental Stamp Art last week to make a tea themed card and this weeks challenge is to include a dragon in your card design so I decided to combine both challenges in one and share the template with you:
Stamps: About Art Accents, Paper: K&Co, Template: Lindsay Weirich (download below)Same stamps different paper!See, I did use a dragon 😉
And one more for you retro fans…
Stamps Crafty Secrets, Paper: K&Co
I added chunky glitter to the sugar cubes to make them look..well, sugary 🙂
You can cut this card with your Cricut Machine if you have SCAL software.
*Note: I just found out that there is a coupon code to save 10% off SCAL! Enter this code during checkout if you buy it:3847758 it is good through 5/26/2009!

Here is another card that would be suitable for mother’s day (or anytime you want to give a fellow mom a laugh 😉 I used this weeks sketch from 2sketches4you, a Crafty Secrets stamp and an Erma Bombeck quote for this card. The best part is it only took a couple of minutes to make!
This is printed on the inside of the card. Font: Cityscape
Whenever I want to make a funny card for a girlfriend I look for a quote by Erma Bombeck, she was a great American humorist right up there with Mark Twain IMHO, If you have never read anything of hers check out “At Wit’s End” You will laugh so hard you might pee your pants! She is that funny and never mean, that is hard to do!
Well, I’m off to do a little birthday shopping for my hubby, Happy Cinco de Mayo (Hey, an excuse to make Margaritas, what’s wrong with that?) and till tomorrow Happy Crafting!
A dear friend is moving away so a few days ago I sent her this:
Stamps: Crafty Secrets, Inkadinkado Paper: American Crafts, Cardstock: DCWV
How can you resist the cut ladybug with a suitcase? It is from Crafty Secrets. The paper is from American crafts and the blank Bingo Card is my design and you can download a sheet of 6 blank bingo cards here. I used my kaliadacolor rainbow pad to ink up the fun letter stamps from Inkadinkado (I love these stamps for this technique) then stamped “miss u” on the top of the bingo card. I use a lable maker for the “we will” and added a hit of sparkle wih my homemade dew drops. Thanks for stopping by and happy crafting!
Wow, April must be a popular month because my daughters have 4 friends celebrating birthdays in the first week! When you make birthday cards for children they should be fun, bright and quick to make (kids may not appreciate the hard work that goes into a card when there is a gift to open and cake to eat you know.) These are for a set of twins turning 5 and since I have twin girls myself I decided to play it safe and make identical cards, that way there will be no drama over who’s card is the prettiest or who got pink…it’s true, these are REAL issues, with my girls anyway…and milk DOES taste better in a glittery pink princess cup, you know what I mean?
Double Gate-Fold Cards closed and open. Paper: Die Cuts With a View (the glitter stack), Stamps: Inkadinkado, Crafty Secrets
The coolest thing is that these took only minutes to make! I cut a 12″x12″ DCWV glitter cardstock sheet in half then I used my Scor-Pal to make the double gate-fold card but if you don’t have one just fold your card at 2″, 4″, 8″ and 10″. Then I stamped some cupcakes and colored them with markers, punched them out and adhered them to the card (this by the way justifies the new clear stamp impulse buy I made the other day, I’ve used this Inkadinkado set 3x already, I think it is called Sweet Stuff.) I stamped the frame (also by Inka) ans then stamped “Happy Birthday” inside, that stamp is from the Crafty Secrets “girlfriends” set. I cut the label on the inside of the card with my Cricut (Accent Essentials cart), inked the edges and drew on the stitches and adhered it with double stick tape. Try this next time you need a quick card!
It’s fun to make cards for kids because you can use all the fun unsophisticated stuff you wouldn’t use on a grown up card and colors, the brighter the better! Don’t forget to stamp on the envelope too, especially if you are mailing it, kids get a real kick out of getting mail! I hope I’ve inspired you to make something fun for a kid or just a kid at heart! Thanks for stopping by and until nex time happy crafting!
Well by now the chocolates have been opened (Hubby got me my yearly treat, vegan Belgium Chocolates from Rose City Chocolates, really I didn’t think it was possible for something to taste so good!) I had an extra special valentines yesterday, not only did I have a nice relaxing day with my family but I was asked to join the About Art Accents Design Team! The owners saw the project I did with their stamp (yesterdays Fortunate Valentine) and invited me to join. How cool! OK, OK you don’t read my blog to listen to me blab so here is today’s project.
Stamp: Magenta, Die Cuts: Cricut, Felt: Queen & Co
I made this for my friend Kathy who had her birthday on Valentines day. I’m not sure If I would like that, kinda of like having your birthday on Christmas, getting the short end of the stick, you know. On the other hand it’s kinda cool too (and hubby would never forget!) Here is the card that I made to go with it. I got a bunch of Crafty Secrets stamps for Christmas that desperately needed to be inked up. I love the vintage style and they are funny too, a real plus!
Stamps: Crafty Secrets, Ribbon: American Crafts, Cardstock: The paper Co, Emb plate: Kiskars
To make the stationary box I used my Cricut Expresssion and the cartridge Tags, bags boxes and more./ I re sized it in Design Studio so it would fit my 5 1/2x 4 1/4 cards, a bit bigger to account for my envelopes. I ‘ve had TBBM for a year but never used it much until I got the expression. The large paper I used is Strathmore 300 Series Colored Art Paper. I’ve used this for years for pastel painting and it cuts wonderfully in the cricut. It comes in 40 sheet assorted pads and is 12″x18″, larger enough for any box I want to cut and very thick and sturdy. It had a nice texture to it as well but you will want to tape it to the mat with blue painters tape because with the texture It does not stick well. I used pressure (max) and a blade depth of 3 to cut it. I think a pack of the paper is about $10, which is not bad for that many sheets but you can get it for half at Blick Art Supplies or use your coupon at AC Moore or Michel’s, call first to make sure they have it though.
I found another wonderful template sight the other day. Check out Jersgirls Computer Crafts. She has a ton of wonderful paper crafting templates. You could use her Crayon Box to make your own stationary set. You will need some way to size it up though. You could take it to a copy shop and have them make it as big as it will go an an 11×17 sheet for instance or print it at home in a legal size sheet of paper, just keep zooming in on the template when you are in your print dialogue box. Either way you will find her website a treasure!
Thanks for stopping by andtil nex time happy crafting!
