A Quick Gift Idea!

First let me say our girl scout leader does not have a computer so I am safe posting this 🙂

This is a desk calendar for my girls Daisy Scout leader, I used a 6″x12″ oak frame as the base, cut pattern paper (K&Co have wonderful Girl and Boy scout licenced papers!) to fit the frame and used my cuttlebug flower petal dies and embossing folders (got the whole kit on sale at Big Lots for $2 last spring!) to make daisy petals, inked them and glued them down. You know you could also cut the petals with the Cricut and just place them in whatever EB folder you like. I glued a tear away calendar pad from skybluepink.com over the petals then I used my Cricut machine and Sure Cuts a Lot software to make the “Daisy Girl Scout” title and mat.  If you are looking for the perfect gift for a Cricut user get them SCAL2 for Christmas, it will let you cut all of your computer fonts with your Cricut machine, it’s easy too and it is still on sale for $59 {reg. $75} and that is less than the price of  one Cricut cartridge!

The font I used is called LD This and That from Lettering Delights, it cuts like a dream and I love the funky mix of letters in this one. I have a 40% off your entire purchase coupon Lettering delights too: GiveThanks and it is good through Thursday so don’t wait!

I will later (if my computer and the new software we have installed cooperates) print a photo of the daisy troop and add it to the frame but if you have no picture you can also add a pad of post it notes to the frame, that would be handy!

This project qualifies for the following challenges: Alphabet challenge , Lots To do (e=embossing),  Bunny Zoe (anything for Christmas-not a card-does a gift count?), CRAFT challenge (create a gift), Charisma cards (for the girls), Craft Your Days Away (texture), For Fun, Hodgepodge shop, Inktegrity ,totallystampalicious, (anything goes), funwithshapesandmore, Make it crafty (anything but a card),  Inspired Crafters (3-D project with die cuts), Papertake weekly, artfulinkables (die cuts)

Hey Girlfriend!

ser⋅en⋅dip⋅i⋅ty: (noun) an aptitude for making desirable discoveries by accident.

That explains this project. I was lucky enough to get published agin last month in Vamp Stamp News, I was extra lucky to be the winner of 10 back issues of VSN and I was even more lucky to pick the April 2000 issue that had load of goodies in including the template I used for this project. I also had the “Girlfriend” pad of collage papers and stamps from Crafty Secrets that I thought would be perfect to use being October and Breast Cancer awareness month.

A girlfriend gift! Paper: K&Co, Collage stuff: Crafty Secrets

"I got your back" A great reminder to do your monthly breast self exams girls! If you notice the first photo you see the ribbon loop, that is so you can hang the card up, maybe in your powder room so you wont forget to do your exam EVERY MONTH! It saves lives ladies ;)

I love the caption with the old ladies.

I love the caption "It takes a long time to grow and old friend" with the old ladies.

Here is the card closed, it is very dainty, I added a ribbon rose and a strip of scalloped paper and thats it.

This was pretty quick to make. I made a version of the template so I could cut it with my Cricut and SCAL software. The little scallop frame was from the free font Kutups. I cut the template from a sheet of double-sided K&Co pattern paper and clipped bits from the collage pad and adhered them to the layers. I stamped the pin-up lady, phrase and awareness ribbon on a cream panel and adhered. This template would make an excellent gift card or ATC holder. Mine was 3 3/4″x2 3/4″ but you could eek out a slightly bigger version (3″x4″) if you stretched the template to the full width of the paper. If you would like a copy of the template (and 3 other fabulous envelope templates) you can order the April 2000 back issue of Vamp Stamp News here. While you are at it why not subscribe?  It is $3 (or less) an issue if you do, I consider myself an advanced stamper and I always find inspiration in the pages of VSN but even if you are just starting out I’m sure you would enjoy it too.
