I’m Back with a Late Sketchbook Sunday & Canada Craft Haul!

Hi friends! I am back online after a weekend in New Brunswick with the family! Even though I am back online you can still use the coupon code OFFLINE45 to get 45% off any class in my online school through Labor Day! After you click enroll you can enter the coupon by clicking “add coupon” on the payment page.  I want to thank my students for their patience this weekend in getting their questions answered. I really needed the weekend off and a getaway before my kids started school today. We drove up to Saint John, Visited some parks and the New Brunswick Museum, had some delicious (and quite affordable) meals and stopped in St. Andrews on the way home to visit the aquarium.  The hotel we stayed at in St John was right next to a Micheals! I was so thrilled because I do not have one near me so only go about once or twice a year. I also wanted to visit Dollarama because I have seen some Canadian YouTubers get some cool stuff there. In today’s video I’ll show you what I picked up and what I plan on using the items for.

I am excited to scrapbook the trip because I have some maps, brochures and the lovely painted taffy bag as well as photos of the kids and even me and hubby. Canadians are so nice I was asked several times if I wanted my photo taken with my kids when I was taking a pic. I love our friendly neighbors to the north! We are thinking of visiting Prince Edward Island next summer so if anyone has any advice for staying there please let me know. I am an anxious traveler so it’s nice to have a bit of a plan before I go. I hope you enjoyed this weird little sketchbook Sunday on a Monday and if you are interested in seeing a video of the scrapbook pages I plan to do of this trip let me know. Til next time happy crafting!

What I got at the stamp show…

Hi friends! I got my bags unpacked from the Heirloom Stamp show yesterday and it was so fun to go through the treasures I picked up while I was there.  I wasn’t able to attend the show last year so it was especially fun to explore all of the booths and see what the vendors had to offer.

In this video I’ll show you what I got at the show and also tell you how I plan to use it! If there is anything you’d like to see me use first let me know in the comments below, honestly, I just want to play with all of it right now!

Planning for next year…

Hi friends! I hope you had a wonderful Christmas. I did, we stayed home all day and got a foot of fresh snow! Today we will travel “over the river and through the woods to grandmother’s house…” and by now the roads are clear and the sun is shining. I was very lazy yesterday and enjoyed every minute of it. I got some new acrylic paint pens and finished the last page in my most frequently used art journal with this sketch.

These will be a fun addition to my stash. Speaking of stash I often purchase supplies for the upcoming year in November/December when sales are good. I was very mindful this year grabbing things I was almost out of and knew I would use and new products that I wanted to try then review. I recorded this video a couple of weeks ago so I would have it to post during the holiday week and at that time the new tax reform bill had not been finalized and I was hearing a lot of fear mongering in some small business groups and some people were saying that their accountants were telling them to buy as many things as they could now while they can deduct the expenses because “who knows what will happen in the tax bill passes?” Well, we can still deduct expenses and I apologize if this upset anyone. I don’t want to spread rumors or encourage people to buy out of fear. OK, now that I have that out-of-the-way here is my year-end haul. You can look forward the tutorials using these products coming soon on my channel!

If you are interested in anything I mentioned you can find links below:

  • Set of 8 fountain pens *These are good for the price but a couple of pens needed a bit of tuning to improve ink flow. They work really well with the enclosed refillable cartridges but not so well with disposable cartridges.
  • Artist photo reference books. I found these on amazon, I have kept my eyes peeled for these for years and I finally found a bunch that were reasonable, these are out of print so if you find them they will be sold by small bookshops but all but two books arrived within a week.  *Good luck in your search!
  • Grumbacher Acrylic Paper pad(Tried it already and love it!)
  • Canson XL Mixed media rough (pages are a natural white and slightly rougher than the bright white smoother regular Canson XL mixed media pads, not a huge difference other than that but I like the original so that’s fine with me)
  • Toned Tan and toned grey Strathmore mixed media pads
  • Rendr no show through marker sketchbook
  • Blick illustrator markers *So I did get a chance to look at them and they are lovely but they are exactly like the studio 71 markers by Darice. The color names and numbers are the same and they swatch out identically. Also the 24 pack are sold out and they were a limited time product so I decided I won’t be reviewing them. I suggest you try the Blick Studio brush markers as they have a higher quality nib or if you want a budget option try the studio 71 markers
  • Colerase erasable colored pencils
  • Prismacolor Manga set (already reviewed)
  • Faber Castel Stencils
  • China markers
  • Stablo all pencils
  • Arches gift set (cheap joes)
  • Gear stencils/masks
  • Yarn, soap fragrance: A.C. Moore in store only
  • Citric acid for upcoming bath bomb tutorial
  • Bath bomb moulds
  • Jane Davenport products: Doll head pencil cup, ink, palette pad with faces and colorwheels printed on them, power pastels, beaded brush and inkredible pen

Phew, that was a lot of stuff, stay tuned for videos using this stuff! I will have the DIY bath bomb video up on my YouTube channel tonight at 5pm ET and in a day or two on my blog. It is a wonderful project to make with the kids on Christmas break and your home will smell great while you are making them! Plus, anything that encourages the kids to take a bath is a good thing. I hope you are having a great week and til next time happy crafting!

Just a quick post and a haul video!

Hi friends! I hit the end of year overstock sales pretty hard this year. I like to stock up on workshop, video and class staple supplies when prices are low. Everything I purchased was 55%-90% off.

Wanna see what I got? Watch the video!

More info for folks looking for the things I bought:

AC Moore is an east coast craft store and does not have a website where you can order but you can find stores and grab coupons on their website.

Jerry’s Artarama has the lowest prices on art supplies and had a massive overstock and clearance sale, it might still be on.

The Stampendouns stamps/stencils I showcased can be purchased for the lowest price at Hallmark Scrapbook  *Their prices are lowest but they also sell out fast Simon Says Stamp also has them, a huge selection, and they are usually in stock

*Links to Hallmark Scrapbook and Simon Says Stamp are affiliate links which means I earn a small commission on any purchase you make after clicking the link without cost you more:) Thank you for your support!

Let me know what you would like to see me use first! Happy crafting!
