Hi Friends! Let’s use up out stash and make Christmas cards! It feels good to use up what we have rather than buying new. Today I am going to share a way to revamp your old pattern paper and use up washi tape and give you some ideas for duct tape too! If you don’t have washi and duct tape simply cut pattered paper into strips and adhere them with glue. It will be just as cute!
The duct tape and backing paper I am using is from Oriental Trading Company and the pen and adhesive are from Tombow. Do you want more quick and simple Christmas card ideas? Let me know in the comments and if there is interest I will make more! Thanks for stopping by and til next time happy crafting!
Wow, how did it get to be December 3rd already?!? My husband subtly hinted that we need to be getting out Christmas cards out soon. Well, this quick and easy design can be made in a flash with inexpensive supplies from Papermart and it is flat enough not to require extra postage! Watch the video to see how it is done!
I used the Tinsel Wire and Corrugated paper in Lime green. I love how when you buy from Papermart you get a large quantity for little cash, it is perfect for mass producing items such as Christmas cards or making stuff for craft fairs and it is even better for supplying classroom art projects. To save on shipping costs I suggest you plan ahead for other items you might want and if the quantity of an item is too great ask friends if they want to split it with you. That reminds me, I’m running low on the clear bags I display my handmade cards in at craft fairs! I don’t want to run out of those! I hope this project had inspired you to send handmade Christmas cards this year. Thanks for stopping by and til next time happy crafting!
Have you sent your holiday cards out yet? Well, don’t worry! Crank up the Bing Crosby, pour yourself a cup of hot chocolate and make up a few batches of these cards this weekend. And they are easy enough for the kids (and hubby) to help with. Disclaimer: I do not think husbands are incapable of complicated cards, it’s just a joke folks.
I simply cut panels and strips of pattern paper as well as a sentiment and adhered them to a card base. All supplies by Echo Park.I made my card base from kraft cardstock and adhered a panel of PP (DCWV) then stamped on stitching. the red pael is Echo Park and the stamped sentiment (Studio G) was in the dollar bin at Joanns! I punched it with a square flourished punch and embellished the card with ribbon.I stamped Christmas Trees (Fiskars) on a card base and used a dot marker to add the red balls then adhered the sentiment (Echo Park) to the bottom.I used my "go-to" banner stamps from Pink Persimmon to make this cute and easy card! All I did here was adhere a panel of blue argyle paper (DCWV) on a card base and stamp a sentiment (SU!) on the edge. The embossed snowflake is an Ellison embosslet and I embellished it with a rhinestone in the center.
Tip: Pre cut all card bases and layering pieces and have adhesive, stamps and ink pads out and ready. Set up all of the supplies on the kitchen table (or if you are like me on the coffee table and pop in a good holiday move when you work!) and put the cards together assembly line style! Here is a look at a work in process:
I sold quite a few of these easy cards in packs of 4-6 at my craft fair last weekend (go ahead and copy if you like, I won’t tell;) and at about 5 minutes a card they are quick enough to make for everyone on your mailing list! Thanks for stopping by and til next time happy crafting!
OK lovely blog readers, it is confession time, I have not been very frugal lately. Well, I have gotten some great deals, don’t get me wrong, but 50% off is still 50% on and I need to stop shopping! Now do not worry, I didn’t charge anything, I am not in debt and there is food on the table, just for me I am feeling a bit excessive and I thought I’d share it with my readers so they know I am not virtuous all the time 🙂 Case in point, I had resisted this Papertrey ink set for about…well since it was realeased…and one late night in July I could resist no more and picked it up along with 2 other set’s I had my eye on. Yep, full price (I did get free shipping tho!) so I decided I better use them by golly! I decided the best way to break this set in would be to make a batch of christmas cards. I tend to do about 8 small batches of cards rather than 70 cards the same because after about 10 on the same design I have had it LOL! BTW the set I am using is Button Botique..isn’t it fabulous?
So, these were a snap to make and I think they are very cute. I used some crocheted snowflakes I have had kicking around for years, they did not sell at my yard sale so I kept them-everything else went to charity. I sprayed them with walnut ink and poked a wee hole in the card and slid the handing string through so the ornament can be hung on the tree.
The buttons and card are from Papertrey Ink and the music background (love it!) is a Hero Arts cling stamp.
Well, I feel better now I have confessed my indiscretions. I think I will make jewelery today. Two of my kiddos are feeling sick so some quiet time around the coffee table with beads will be just the thing I think! Til next time happy crafting!
I used vintage sheet music on this card, you can find books of vintage music at thrist/junk/antique shops for a song (no pun inteded) of search "free vintage sheet music" and find some free to print!
Howdy folks, there is nothing like the feeling of being ahead of the game. I decided this year I would make all of my Christmas cards ahead in small batches instead of mass producing 75 in November. If you missed the first batch of cards you can see them here. Here is the second batch of 12 and they were so fun and affordable, each card and envelope cost about 10 cents to make with scraps left over, you can’t beat that! Please note: I did not count the cost of the stamp and ink or sewing machine thread, I’ve had them all for years and have more than gotten my money’s worth out of them;)
Cardstock: Paper Co., Pattern paper: DCWV, Stamps: Rubber Stampede
I did not buy anything new to make these cards.
I chose 12 Christmas papers leftover from old Die Cuts with a View paper stacks (I bought the 180 sheet stacks for $10, that is about 7 cents a sheet) and I trimmed them to 8.5″ square and used my score pal (tutorial is here) to make the envelopes keeping the pattern to the inside for a faux liner look.
You will end up with 3.5″x12″ and 3.5″x8.5″ scraps. Trim the 3.5″x8.5″ scraps into strips (the short way) and save the longer scraps for other cards.
Cut 8.5″x11″ kraft cardstock in half (8.5″x5.5″) and fold to make a standard card. I bought a 50 sheet pack of Kraft cardstock by the paper company on sale at Joanns for $2.50 (that is 5 cents a sheet or 2.5 cents per card!)
Stamp the Christmas postmark with brown ink on the card.
Clip the strips of paper to varying lengths and arranged them in a tree shape and sick them down with a glue stick then use a sewing machine to zig-zag stitch down the middle to make a trunk and help secure the papers.
Stamp “Merry and Bright” in the lower corner.
Print out a bunch of stamps from the 12 Days of Christmas set from Lettering delights on cardstock, cut them out with stamp edge scissors and glue them to the card at the base of the tree.
Attach a star brad to the top of the tree. (I bought a bulk pack of these at Target many years ago, I think it was 100 for $2)
You will end up with a bunch of paper strips leftover too, you can do this tree arrangement on brown paper lunch sacks for cute unique gift wrap, perfect for kids classmates or gifts of baked goods, it never hurts to be prepared!
So now it’s your turn, go ahead, look through you old stash of papers and stamps and make a batch of Christmas cards, leave a link if you do so I cam marvel at them;)
Thanks for stopping by and til next time happy crafting!
Happy Monday folks! I must say this post is a surprise to me because when I sat down to print out my designs from my brand spanking new Lindsay’s Stamp Stuff set “Card, Tags and Toppers” I expected I would be on my merry way to decorate some treat bags in my craft room, well, I live in the North, it’s December and my craft room is in my unheated basement so I was more inclined to stay at my cozy computer and digiscrap instead:
I used the Winter Printables set to make this scrapbook page, I love this pink/green/red combo. The pink paper is from this weeks freebie and you can snag it from this post. I used an embossed scallop mat from the embossed mats kit to mat my photo.
Ink Saving tip: Using white elements gives your eyes a chance to rest and since white is the color of your paper you are saving ink! Notice how I like to distress the edges of the paper and print designs in white, you get a nice blast of color but it is also easy on your ink cartridges (they don’t call me the Frugalcrafter for nothing 😉 )
This quick card is included in the Cards Tags and Toppers Kit on sale for $3!
I did play with the Card, Tags and Toppers kit by taking 30 seconds out of my evening and plopping a photo into the 4×8 holiday card…OK 35 seconds, I had to type “Merry Christmas from the Weirichs” LOL! This may be my easiest Christmas card yet! Here is a look at the kit:
I will have some more samples using the kit on Thursday along with another freebie so be sure to check back for that. But now make sure you see what the fabulous Monday Crew at Lindsay’s Stamp Stuff has been up to:
Have you ever used your water based markers to stamp? It is easy, quick and fun and look how elegant:
Stamps: About Art Accents
I used stamps from About Art Accents for both of these cards. The Deer image is from this plate and I simply colored the rubber with my Tombow markers, breathed on the rubber to moisten the ink and stamped. Thats it! a bit of gold cord and you are done!
Stamps: About Art Accents, Tip: Cut apart the words Merry Christmas so you can arrange the words the way you like 😉
If you want a simpler technique on this one I used an olive-green inkpad to ink up the holly then used a Q-Tip to wipe off the ink from the branch and berries and filled them in with markers, oh so simple! BTW all of the Christmas sheets of stamps are 20% off! That’s like 28 stamps for less than $20 and they are all good designs!
Give this technique a try! Till next time happy crafting 😉
Wow, I’m thrilled to be a part of the Caardvarks Holiday Blog Hop, if you are arriving from Lila’s blog you are in the right place! If you just stumbled upon the hop here be sure to start at the Caardvarks blog so you can see all of the fabulous cards from their design team and have a chance to win some goodies from Creative Cuts and More and get an exclusive coupon for CC&M too! This is a 3-Day Hop. Day one is cards. I hand make 70 Christmas cards every year (it’s my one big Christmas thing;) and I enjoy it immensely but I also am realistic, when you make that many they need to be cute, quick and easy, this card is all three:
Die Cuts: Creative Cuts and More, Stamps: House Mouse, Rubber Stampede, MSE!
I used the 5 1/4″ square filigree window card in smooth red cardstock and heat embossed snowflakes in white (for some odd reason this red cardstock turns dark when you heat it but goes back to normal when it cools) randomly over the card. I stamped the Mistletoe Mice on white cardstock with Versafine ink and watercolored it. I stamped Happy Holidays on a kraft scrap and adhered to the card over a length of ribbon. Total time 20 minutes but if you make this card assembly line style it is even quicker;) And you save $$ when you but 10 or more of a die cut from Creative Cuts and More, perfect for mass producing x-mas cards! Using die cuts as embellishments is great too because they are flat and need no extra postage and are as little as 10 cents a pop! And it is nice not to have to cut them yourself 😉
Next stop on the hop is Pam Smerker, I can’t wait to see what she has cooked up for us…speaking of cooking you won’t want to miss the two great new recipe kits that Creative Cuts and More will be debuting next week (November 9th and 10th) during their Mega Recipe Blog hop! They will be perfect for holiday gifts. You will even have a chance to win them;) That’s all for today, tomorrow I will have some pretty holiday packaging to share with you, till then Happy Crafting!
Yes I know that it isn’t even Halloween yet but I thought I’d share a couple Christmas cards that were just published in Just Cards Holidays!
Stamps: House Mouse, Paper: K&co
I colored these with my trusty Bic Markits and Made the shaped cards with my Cricut, Accent Essentials Cartridge and design Studio software, easy peasy!
