Inktober Day 1: Swift

Hi friends! Every year I am inspired by the artists posting for the Inktober challenge so this year I thought I would try myself! Basically you post an ink drawing ever day during the month. I think it is a great way to squeeze in some art practice ever day.

The “ink” portion of this project took less than 5 minutes but I wanted color so I ended up adding some watercolors. Still the project was only about 10 minutes in real-time. I think we can all fit in a few minutes a day right? Today’s prompt was “swift” so I decided to paint a swift creature swiftly. 🙂 You don’t have to use prompts but they are there if you want them on the Inktober site🙂

Hi friends! You might have noticed if you follow me on YouTube and Facebook that I have been doing surprise live streams. I will continue to do my Friday at 12:30pm ET stream with Sarah as long as I am not traveling so don’t worry, those are here to stay but I also like popping in live when I have time to paint and chat.I decided to make the replay available after the live stream for everyone to see, I save questions til the end so if you want to hear them you can or you can stop watching when the tutorial is over. I hope this is helpful!

I am so pumped!

howdy friends! I am so excited for today! I just got word last night from Kelly Brooks Bay, Author of The Rainbow Pants that the books arrived for the book release party, phew! Also I can’t wait to see my daughters Girl Scout float in the Old Home Week Parade today and I got my craft fair booth all set up yesterday morning so I will be busy and having fun all day. I’ll share some pictures of everything with you tomorrow;) As I was packaging up some more cards for sale I remembered the watercolor cards I painted in Boston, I thought I would get home and do more to them but decided they were fine as is:

DCF 1.0

Near Tufts there were all of these sparrows around, very tame, swooping in to get dropped bits of bread, here is one:

DCF 1.0

and here are 2 little paintings from my head…

My watercolor cards usually sell pretty well. Some people buy them to frame, hey they are original paintings, why not? Well, I better get moving, lots to do today! Thanks for stopping by and til next time happy crafting!

Nature inspired…

Howdy craft lovers! I honestly have no idea what I am going to do with this card 🙂 It is square and thick and a bit heavy so it might not make it through the US postal system too well. I just couldn’t stop embellishing it LOL!

It was one of these “putter” cards, I just kept puttering on it, adding a twig, a bead, some clay embellies…it sat on my desk for 2 days and I swear I stuck something else to the poor card every time I walked by. I still think it is kinda pretty though.

The stamps are from Stampin Up! and I’ve had that set for over a year and havent used it ?!? I know, pretty strange for me because I usually use my stamps as soon as I get them. I’m sure I will use the more now, the first ink is the hardest, am I right?

I guess I’ll enter this card in a few challenges since I have not done that in forever: Make it Monday, Paper Playtime, Stamp and Create and Amusing Challenges.

Thanks for stopping by and til next time happy crafting!

Christmas Cardinals & a Halloween Freebie

I had so much fun playing with the Natures Christmas digistamp set From Lindsay’s stamp stuff last week that I decided to use it again this week and make cards with the cardinal stamps included in the kit:

I also used the holly corners from the kit to decorate the plain edges of my cream cardstock. I love this project because I got to use up some scraps, the pattern paper was leftover from last Thursdays card and the little metal word charms (Makingmenories) were left over from my 2004 Christmas cards (I’m telling you, I must have bought 100 of those charms on clearance at Joanns that year;) I love to use stuff up!

These cards qualify for the following challenges: 2 Sisters (animal fun), All Sorts & City Crafter (holiday),  Cowgirls Sunday Challenge & Polycraft & SSDD (anything goes), Anything Challenge (Christmas), Creative Card Crew (Flowers),  Digital Tuesday (Ribbons, buttons), Fab & Funky & Karbers Challenges(use a Digi), fuzzy Wuzzy (more than one image-the card with the holly corners), Gingersnap (Punches), Lothian Crafts, Sew MAny Challenges (Christmas), Marks Fines Paper & Sundays with Chrissy (buttons & bows), Stamp Insanity (Heavy Metal-Metal word charms and metal buttons on cards) and Christmas Blog Challenge (Christmas card for a guy).

The felt flowers were from a Martha Stewart craft kit.

Here is a peek at the Natures Christmas set, it is never to early to get started on Christmas projects!

Here are two new sets in the Lindsay’s Stamp Stuff Shop this week: Cupcake Carrier Template and Winterland clip art.

A Sketch and a Freebie!

Happy Thursday! This week Lindsay’s Stamp Stuff is sponsoring the challenge blog Tuesday Morning Sketches (our very own Melissa Craig is the hostess!) All of us gals on the LSS team used the sketch this week, I flipped the sketch and used it on the card on the right, I used paper from the Shabby Houndstooth kit and stamps from the Pretty Primitive set, both available from Lindsay’s Stamp Stuff:

Stamps/paper: Lindsay's Stamp Stuff, Markers: Bic Mark-it, Prismacolor

Here is a closer look at the card done with the sketch, be sure to stop by the TMS blog to see the original sketch and link up your card for a chance to win free stamps of your choice from Lindsay’s Stamp Stuff.

This card was quick to make! Hot gluing the ribbon & flower was a real time saver!

I had so much fun making the first card (plus leftover houndstooth paper and an stamps) do I made this one too. To give flower petals depth vary the colors slightly from petal to petal. The bird stamp is from the Pretty Primitive set and the sentiment is from All Around Phrases.

Blue, yellow and tan are a classic country color combo!

Here is a look at the new sets I used:

9 stamps only $5 at Lindsay's stamp stuff!

6 papers on sale for $2.50 (regular $3)! They are designed to use little printer ink, try them today!

And now how about a freebie? this kitty is “purrfect” for Valentines day and the oval frame makes it a snap to trim. click the picture to download 🙂

a freebie for you, happy Valentines day!

Now lets see what the DT had up their sleeve this week, one of the girls used the freebie in her card and another designer has a bonus coordinating freebie for you…better visit them all so you don’t miss a thing (and leave them some love 🙂
