Easy and Fun FUNdrasing!

When I was a kid I loved collecting bookmarks sold at my schools book fairs and craft shows. Why not craft a few to sell to raise money for your school or give to teachers as classroom rewards. It is easy and all you need as a few inexpensive supplies to make a set like this:

You will need:

3″x5″ clear bags or clear packing tape

cardstock in white and red (or whatever color you choose)

Digital paper and clip art. I used a few sets from MyGrafico: Retro Jungle, Safari Animals and the School Paper Pack.

1/4″ eyelets, recycled tea tin or box, ribbon and stickers or other flat embellishments as desired.

To make these bookmarks simply layer the clip art over a sheet of the pattern paper keeping in mind the bookmark finished size of 3″x5″. You can get 6 from one sheet of 8.5″x11″ paper, they will be slightly narrower than 3″ but you will be matting them with a contrasting color, in my case red. Print the paper with the clip art on white cardstock and cut into 2.75″x4.75″ rectangles and slip into the clear baggies and seal or cover with clear packing tape to make the bookmarks durable. Add a 2-part 1/4″ eyelet to the top (you can get 2 part eyelets in a craft shop in the sewing section made my Dritz) and thread through ribbon or yarn.

To make a display for the bookmarks I simple covered an old tea tin with school themed paper and popped the bookmarks inside:

But if you prefer you could make a box for the bookmarks using the slider box template from the Teacher’s Helper SVG set.

It is easy to make small crafts for fundraisers and it sure beats baking a few dozen cupcakes!

Thanks for stopping by and til next time happy crafting!

Barnyard bookmarks!

I made these a while back using the trial version of Cricut Design Studio and my George cartridge.

Animal bookmarks designed in Cricut DS
Animal bookmarks designed in Cricut DS

If you don’t have the trial version of DS why not? It’s free and you can download it here. Each of the bookmarks consist of a body and a head. When you cut them out and glue them together leave bottom half of the head glue/tape free so you can slip it over the page you want to mark. KWIM? PS if you are currently using SCAL with your Cricut you already have DS installed.

I thought this would be a nice project to do with the kids now that school is gearing up again. If you know any teachers that would like to use these in their classroom please send them to my blog so they can download it. Here is a “print and cut” version so anyone without DS can do the project. You will need to freehand the tail on the horses or use yarn. For best results decorate your animal before gluing! Click to download each, the pig, horse and the elephant.

Enjoy and have a great Labor Day!

*I fixed the Design Studio link, It will take you to Provo Craft where you can get the newest version that is compatable with Sure Cuts a Lot.
