Ask a Crafter S3 E17

Hi friends! I’m not going to complain about the cold today but it was -3 at dog walking time and 50 in my studio today. Much to the disappointment of Hazel she did not get walked but a few steps outside and she is holding her paws in the air because it is too darn cold and I don’t think she would appreciate wearing booties if the hunting vest I had her wear this fall was any indication. I’m hoping for a heatwave (that would be 15-20) tomorrow so I can take her for her usual walk. Oh well, it really makes you appreciate summer! Only 6 more months 😀 I am hoping that I can film with Kathy and Lorraine next week, I am sure you miss them as much as I do. I don’t know what is keeping me so busy that we can’t get together (it isn’t the housework!) but something is using up my time, basketball season maybe? Poor time management? Distraction of cool CHA 2015 videos…ding ding ding! Nobody’s perfect:) And on that note, here is this weeks Ask a Crafter:

Thanks so much for stopping by! Leave your questions below and they may be on a future Ask a Crafter! (the jar is getting lower!) Have a great night and til next time happy crafting!

Flying solo for Ask a Crafter this week…

Hi friends! I am not going to whine today but I have to tell you the funniest thing. I went to pick up my kids from basketball last night and they asked me if I got picked for a jury and I said yes and they said “Mom! that is so exciting, we can see you on TV!” then I had to explain that Judge Judy was not presiding over these cases and tell them that The Peoples Court was not trial by jury, or even real. It took them a while to grasp that. They were very disappointed. It would be entertaining if the judge heard testimony and shouted “Baloney!” I love sassy TV judges…I wonder if they are really judges or just actors? Let’s get back on topic shall we? I shot my first craft storage video the other day on beads and jewelry making supplies and I plan on knocking out a few more tomorrow so if you have requests for storage videos let me know. I am going to try to show how to store all my crafty stuff but you will probably think of things I forgot. I have been a bit spacey lately so I’ll tale all the help I can get! The next couple AACs will likely be me solo (sorry bout that, I’ll try to be entertaining  or at least informative without the crafty ninjas at my side) due to unpredictable jury duty requirements. At lease doing these solo and the craft storage videos I can pretty much film them when I have a spare moment with little planning:) I hope you like them!

You can leave your questions below. Thanks so much for stopping by and til next time happy crafting!

Merry Christmas, it’s Ask a Crafter!

Hi Friends! Tonight we will have my hubby’s side of the family over for dinner and presents.  Last year we had a power outage due to an ice storm for 3 days before Christmas, it kinda put you in the mindset of “I can only do what I can do” and really took the pressure off to be perfect. I have really been calm getting ready for the holidays this year and enjoying it more. Yesterday Kathy and I took the kids out to a movie (Night at The Museum 3, it was wonderful!) and to see the decorations at the mall. It wasn’t the least bit crazy, people were cheerful (even the salespeople who have been working around the clock) it was really nice. We went to a late supper and brought home really tired kids. Last year we never made it out to the mall (probably because of the ice storm) and the kids missed it and asked about it. I don’t know how long they will enjoy this, hopefully for a long time, who knows, maybe 40 years from now they will be taking their old and senile moms for a spree at the mall. I love the quote  We’ll be friends Until we are Old and senile. Then we will be New Friends!  Yep, sums us up pretty well I think! Please join Kathy, Lorraine and I for this weeks ask a crafter!

Have a Merry Christmas everyone! Thanks for stopping by and til next time happy crafting!

An Ask a Crafter Confession and Other Cool Stuff!

Hi friends! It’s Wednesday and time for ask a crafter! I have a confession about this weeks (and the next 3 weeks episodes) they are in the can, as we used to say in the radio biz. This month has been super hectic with the ladies and I, there was an exploding car (don’t ask) and just general Christmas business but I anticipated this (well, not the car, that was a surprise!) and filmed a couple extra episodes at the beginning of the season for just this reason. That means if you asked a question early on and it was not answered it probably will be over the next 3 episodes! I know you all are busy this time of year too so feel free to wrap some presents, bake or craft as we answer your crafty questions!

Other cool stuff!!!

My friend Linda over at Lost Coast Designs bought the Carmen’s Veranda line of super quirky stamps and you can find her website here:

carmen

This will be an awesome addition to her already quirky Lost Coast Designs stamps. I can’t wait to get mine! She has been selling these at stamp shows and now we can all get them! (Linda, you better not sell out before I have time to shop!)

And Voting is now open in the USA Today Holiday Lights contest! You could win a $1.5K gift card just for voting for your favorite pic! Who are you voting for? I saw someone there from my home state! So exciting:) I wonder if they are a reader….

And my workdesk today…a preview of something I am working on for next week… Look at me planning ahead!

I had to look and make sure there were no Christmas gifts in the works on there, phew! I hope you are having a great week, hopefully no holiday stress. 8 days til Christmas, whoa! I better get on that wrapping myself! Thanks for stopping by and til next time happy crafting!

It’s Ask a Crafter Time!

Hi friends! With the hectic holiday season upon us isn’t is nice to sit back and relax with friends? I invite you to take a 20 minute break with your crafty amigos for this weeks ask a crafter:

If you don’t have time for a break feel free to listen as you wrap presents, cook or craft, we don’t mind at all:) Thanks for stopping by and til next time happy crafting!

AAC & WOYWW!

Hello friends! I feel like I was very efficient today which was really weird because it was a snow day, we got the call at 5:30am that school was cancelled due to sleet and icy roads. I think you have to be efficient in December, there is so much to do! I decided I was going to snap a photo of my craft table every day and post it on instagram (I just joined last week, my username is lindsayweirich if you want to add or follow or whatever the heck you do there.) I thought, what a great time to get back in the habit of What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday, the weekly craft snoop set up by Julia from the stamping Ground, so this week you can see the beginnings of my Christmas card designing.

I make a bunch of cards (usually around 75) and I have some assorted ones done in small batches but this will be a batch of 25. I really need to “get my skates on” if I am going to get these done and mailed on time. There is still the matter of a cute holiday photo including my three kids, two cats and dog…I have a feeling that is going to be slipped in the envelope right before it goes in the mail, that is the kind of year I am having folks, it is just going too quick! I hope you have a moment to sit back with a cozy beverage and relax, you can even hang out with the crafty ninjas while you sip and enjoy this weeks Ask a Crafter!

I will share the finished Christmas cards soon because they will be a quick to mass produce design and I am pretty convinced that nobody on my Christmas card list reads this because when I ever mention what I do all day they reply “Oh, you have a blog?”  We all need quick and easy this time of year I think! Thanks so much for stopping by and til next time happy crafting!
