Happy Friday folks! I got a chance to play with the sketches from 2sketches4you and here are the cards I came up with:
Paper: MME, DCWV, Digi-stamp" Lindsay's Stamp Stuff, Rubber Stamp: SU!, Lables: Scrapnfont, die cuts: Cricut, Ribbon Dollar Tree
I used Laura’s Sketch 30 as well as the versatile bonus sketch. I printed the cupcake digital stamp on yellow cardstock and colored them with prismacolor pencils (see yesterdays post for a tutorial) then trimmed it and adhered it with foam tape. On the other card I cut a flourish with my cricut but I didn’t like the color so I flipped the paper over and inked it with whispers vanilla ink then I added one of my crocheted flowers, a ribbon and a stamped sentiment.
This card was made with Laura's Sketch #30This card was done with Kim's bonus sketch.
Thanks for stopping by and til next time happy crafting!
I was so happy to have time to do both sketch challenges over at 2 Sketches 4 You today. There are two pretty sketches this week and I used Kazan’s sketch #27 for this one…
Stamps: About Art Accents, Paper: K&co, Ink: SU! other: twig, yarn, silk flowers, brad, shimmer spray
…or, at least it started out that way 😉 As soon as I saw the sketch I knew I wanted to use one of my new ATC fairy stamps from About Art Accents. I stamped it with SU! basic black and colored it with Tombow watercolor markers then painted over the image with Prang metallic tempera paint that I got at the dollar store. I stamped “be yourself, everyone else is taken” on a white scrap, painted it with the metallic paint and trimmed it with my oval Creative Memories cutter. I added silk flowers and took some of the leftover leaves and sprayed them with my homemade shimmer spray and hot glued them under the stamped fairy. I grabbed a stick from the back yard, wrapped it with eyelash yarn and hot glued that on to. Finally I used a marker to stamp the butterfly and I glued him to the twig. This card was so fun to make (even if I did use some artistic licence on the sketch!)
Here is an ATC I made with Angela’s bonus sketch:
Stamps: About Art Accents, Paper: SU!, K&co, Sticker K&co, Markers: bic
Thanks girls for the awesome inspiration!
Frugal tip: Want cheap glossy paper for stamping? Try lazer color gloss paper, I got a 300 sheet ream of color lazer gloss by Hammermill and it is a wonderful surface for stamping and doing the polished stone technique and it is cheap! 300 sheet for less than $10! Note, test both sides first because one side works better!
Thanks for stopping by and until next time happy crafting
I made a couple of cards tonight using the sketches over at 2Sketches4you and I love the way they came out:
Father and Mother's day cards. Stamps: Fiskars, Technique Tuesday, Anitias, Die cut Cricut
The first one using Laura’s sketch was so fun. It is a mother’s day card for mom (she doesn’t do computers so the secret is safe LOL!) And she has a thing for roosters so all the better. I used a new clear stamp set from Fiskars and charcoal chalk ink. chalk ink is great to use on clear stamps because it doesn’t bead up and it dries really fast. I tend to prefer brighter colors myself but I wanted a rustic look so I did all of my stamping on both cards with the chalk ink.
The Rooster Crows...
Inside of card:
But the Hen Delivers!
I used Ewonne’s sketch for this Fathers Day card for Dad who also does not partake of the Internet. He worked most of his like as a builder and for the past 20 years owned hardware store so it is perfect (IMHO that is!)
Hmmm, this could be a nice manly birthday card too...
Remember if you want quick drying ink that will work well with clear stamps try chalk ink, it is not as bright as pigment or dye but it gives a subtle matte look and is very nice for direct to paper inking such as antiquing paper or inking edges. Thanks for stopping by and until next time happy crafting!
…I’m serious, the kids slept in so I had time to layout a bunch of cut fruit before they woke up so they could make fruit kabobs for breakfast (And I got a cup of “quiet coffee” yay!) When I picked up the girls from school we went to the natural food store to get eggs so we could dye Easter eggs tonight (they are currently boiling) and then we went to the library. While they were at school today I got a chance to make a card using the sketch from the 2sketches4you blog:
Using sketches is really growing on me, I think when I realized that you don’t have follow the sketch exactly I started to really enjoy it. I like this sketch blog because it is fun to see how others interpret the same sketch. I used the leftover My Minds Eye paper that I used on the layout “on my mind” last week and a new digi-stamp I designed for the card. BTW I am having a call for design team members, click on the tab at the top of the page for details. Oh and get this, the stitching (except for the bit on the edge of the lace to hold it to the card) is fake! I threaded slivers of white cardstock through some of the buttons then glued them on the card and the sewing on the white paisley paper was done with my Cutterbee piercing bugs on a foam mat then I drew over the holes with a red pen. Easy and quick! To color I used Prismacolor pencils and a Prismacolor colorless marker, then I used a pom-pom to add light blue to the background.
Well, the egg timer is about to go off and I want to give the eggs a chance to cool before my oldest gets home so we can dye them! I’ve had a box of egg dye on the kitchen counter tormenting the kids for weeks, they can’t stand the antisapation! Speaking of eggs I have a fun freebie for you tomorrow…staytuned! Also, Tonight (in the states) ABC is running the Charlie Brown Easter Special at 8pm or 7pm depending where you live. Til tomorrow happy crafting!
