Hi friends! To start 2021 off right here is a bright and happy painting lesson for you!

It’s a long one so feel free to break it up into smaller chunks. I took breaks during filming and during one break I took down and packed up the Christmas decorations. Switching gears helps give your mind a break and come up with creative solutions to artistic problems.
We will be working with mixed media. I start with watercolor crayons but if you want to use watercolor it will totally work! Dig through your stash, you might have a similar product to what I am using that you can use if you don’t have the same exact thing. Supplies come and go and honestly, you can always substitute. Don’t have paint pens? Try gel pens or acrylic paint and a dip pen or fine brush. It’s all good!
Supplies (Affiliate links may be used)
- Watercolor crayons (American Journey 24 set)
- Watercolor (phathlo blue Dan Smith)
- Posca pens ex fine tip
- Parkoo paint pens: (fine point)
- Chalkola acrylic paint pens (slightly thicker than Parkoo)
- Sketchbook
- Prismacolor pencils
- Pastel Pencils
- Masking tape
- Reference photo
I hope you enjoyed this bright and colorful artwork and you give it a try soon. Happy crafting!
Happy New Year from Canada! I wish you all the best in the new year, and may you and your family stay well and healthy! I do enjoy your blog, and I have gotten a lot of inspiration from it. I’m not a water colour painting fan…I prefer oils or acrylics. But as the old saying goes…to each his own…and everything is interchangeable! Do keep up the good work… Bev Porter

I love sunflowers! I grow them in the spring and summer from black oil sunflower seeds that I use for the bird feeder! Gorgeous painting and great tutorial. Thank you Lindsay!!! 💖
