Sketchbook Sunday (a day late)

Hi friends! Wow, Monday already huh? Late Monday at that! I had a head cold this weekend so the past two days have been really surreal. I love to get absorbed in a good book but I feel guilty reading during the day (especially on a weekday) so when I woke up stuffy and sneezing I was absolutely giddy because I had 3 new books on my shelf and a licence to slack off. Hubby says “You look awfully happy for a sick person…” I was! A day full of guilt free reading plus nobody asks you to make food for them when you are blowing your nose every 5 minutes. I read the book Vacationland: True Stories from Painful Beaches by John Hodgeman and it was hilarious! I am not sure what you would think of it if you were not from Maine or New England but I laughed out loud a few times and I chuckled throughout. I didn’t know who the author was but he was actually a writer and actor on The Daily Show. I thought it was super funny but I am from Maine so they could be inside jokes. This was a long roundabout way to explain why my voice sounds the way it does today in the video. I’m sick (cough cough) no where are my books….

  1. I think Hodgeman is the guy from the commercial years ago comparing Apple punters to PCs. I think he’s also written a couple of books with really long title that I can’t remember. Something knowing all there is to know? Or something. But very funny.

  2. I’m absolutely hopeless at painting. But I’m mostly ok with stamping. I JUST got a strawberry/cherry/raspberry layering stamp set (Berry Bliss) from Sunny Studio, so I’ll get my realistic fruit with stamping (she said hopefully). I ADORE your paintings and envy (in a good way) your talent. When I’m finished with my current book, I’m going to look into reading your book recommendation. I love a good chuckle!

  3. Gorgeous work! 🙂

  6. I hope you are feeling better!

What a cheery painting! I felt so much better (like summer!) just seeing it. I wonder if I could get that dusty impression of the blueberries without acrylic pens just dabbing some of the wet blue paint off again.

I spent my Sunday trying to paint my eyes like you did the other day and decided to go further and try to paint my portrait using the color mixes for skin color you showed us some time ago. I have a very light skin color and it’s hard to find matching make-up which is tiring and one day I thought: “It’s probably easier to PAINT my skin color than find the right make-up tint!”. So I did exactly that!

It was VERY fun and I didn’t notice how time flew by. Of course it was shocking to realize how my face REALLY looks like these days but the fun of being able to mix the right color made up for it a thousand times. I also dabbed the colors I used on a separate sheet of paper just for fun and let them mingle on the wet paper … it ended up looking like a pretty sunrise scene. Nice to know my skin color consists of the same colors of a pretty sunrise!

Thanks to you I had the best Sunday morning ever …. you made me very happy and I’m so glad I watched those videos!

Have a nice day and Get Well Soon ….. rest a lot with a mug of hot tea and a good book ….

  7. Very good. Hope you feel better very soon. Take care of yourself.
