Heck yeah I’m fancy, I put my hand lotion in a chic glass bottle! LOL! Hi friends, in this weeks installment of sketchbook Sunday I am painting this pretty blue bottle I bought a few weeks ago to house hand lotion at my kitchen sink.
I wish I bought a second one for hand soap because the dingy plastic dollar store soap bottle I keep refilling looks really out-of-place next to this beauty! Who knew a $4 glass bottle from Christmas Tree Shop would class up the joint so much haha:) I have to admit I probably got too much happiness from this little blue bottle but that was what I was inspired to paint in my sketchbook this morning and that is what our sketchbooks are for. Painting what WE want without input or judgement of anyone else. Challenge yourself, make mistakes, play and enjoy it. That’s what it’s for! Watch the video for a time-lapse demonstration of this blue bottle in cheap gouache.
I just realized that the entire set of paints I used and the bottle combined cost less than $25, talk about a cheap date! Art doesn’t have to be expensive, supplies don’t have to be precious and you’re not going to “use up” all of your good ideas. The fact is that creativity is contagious. The more you create the more good ideas you will have. So, have you started using that sketchbook yet? What are you waiting for?
- Gouache (or acrylic) *Colors used: Prussian Blue, Cerulean blue, rose-red, yellow ochre, titanium white ***These Arteza paints are super cheap (less than a $1 a tube and work great!)
- Brushes: (Mimik faux kolinsky rounds #1, #8)
- Sketchbook: (6″x9″ Fabriano Venezia) *This sketchbook is my absolute fave! It is pricey but so wonderful to work with!
- For my palette I used a ceramic plate from Dollar tree and to hold my paint I used a small 24 box organizer from Harbor Freight
